Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1489 - 511: Ambush and Fury_3

Two intense ripples of energy collided violently at the dragon's claw. As a trail of dark mist evaporated within his palm, Rein successfully parried the lethal blow.
However, despite the successful block, Rein’s gaze grew heavy.
Judging by the sheer power behind that strike, the strength of this incarnation of the Nether Sea Goddess Hela was far greater than their previous encounter.
This realization forced Rein to re-examine the current state of the Nether Sea Goddess Hela with extreme caution.
“Blasphemer, I intended to finish you off after crushing this arrogant Dragon spawn. I didn’t expect you to have the courage to descend from that airship.”
The Nether Sea Goddess Hela cast a glance at the massive dragon that served as Rein’s avatar. The smile on her elegant face slowly vanished, as if she were being reminded of a bitter memory.
“I see that even deities resort to ambushes. I always assumed such lowly tactics were reserved for wretched wanderers,” Rein sneered, his mind racing as he evaluated the battlefield.
Simultaneously, he stole a quick look at Menia, who had shifted into her dragon form, and the Red Dragon Tasa.
This marked the first time he had witnessed Menia’s transformation—the true form of a direct descendant of the Dragan Empire’s Imperial Royal Family.
The Red Dragon that Menia had become was more graceful and slender than Tasa, and her horns possessed a distinct, more pronounced curve.
Furthermore, a stunning pendant hung beneath her neck. If Rein’s senses were accurate, it was a high-level witch artifact that had expanded in scale alongside Menia’s transformation.
It was no wonder that past enemies had so frequently mistaken him for a member of the Dragan Imperial bloodline.
Meanwhile, Tasa’s situation was dire. The dragon appeared drained, and a massive gash stretching from its belly to its back was festering with corrosive black water.
It was clear that the surprise assault from the Nether Sea Goddess Hela had robbed the Red Dragon Tasa of more than half its fighting capacity in one fell swoop.
“Prince Menia, take Tasa and retreat to the Federation immediately! Leave this place to me!” Rein commanded in a low, urgent tone.
He was well aware that with Menia burdened by the injured Tasa, crossing the vast Summer Sea back to the distant Dragan Empire while being hunted by the Sea God Sect was an impossible task.
The airship fleet had only been airborne for about four hours, meaning they were roughly six or seven hundred kilometers from Zetaya—a relatively short distance.
Their only hope of escaping this pursuit and finding a moment to recover was a swift return to the Federation.
To Rein's surprise, the Nether Sea Goddess Hela did not erupt in fury at his words. Instead, she looked at Rein and Menia with a mocking sidelong glance and let out a cold laugh.
“Mortal, what are you doing? Trying to provoke me? Are you attempting to create an opening for that Dragon brat behind you to flee?”
Rein’s heart sank. It seemed the Nether Sea Goddess Hela had learned from her past errors and had become far more difficult to manipulate.
“Provoke you? You think too highly of yourself. I am simply trying to prevent collateral damage to my allies. You and your school of worthless fish and shrimp aren't enough to make me run,” Rein replied with a calm expression.
Nevertheless, seeing that his verbal jabs were failing to incite the Nether Sea Goddess Hela, Rein decided to escalate his tactics.
“By the way, Nether Sea Goddess Hela, as a deity, do you have the courage to face me in a duel?” Rein said, tilting his chin upward and looking at Hela with disdain.
“What?!” At those words, Hela’s smirk froze instantly.
The surrounding members of the Sea God Sect, including Pope Egil, stared at Rein in absolute disbelief, as if thinking, ‘Boy, do you realize you are speaking to a god? A god!’
Even the ‘Leviathan Giant Whale’ Jorgandman blinked its massive, car-sized eyes while staring at Rein.
“Mortal, you are seeking death!”
Hela’s composed mask shattered completely. She trembled with a burning rage, the corners of her eyes twitching with uncontrollable anger.
Seeing this reaction, Rein felt a secret surge of relief.
Good. It appeared that the threshold for her anger had simply been raised, not removed.
This was now much more manageable...
