Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1470 - 505: Secrets of the Ruins (Part 2)

Previously on Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys...
Rein faced a Black Mist Monster whose strength, speed, and durability surpassed any foe he had encountered, demonstrating both close-range and ranged attacks. Discovering fire element attacks were more effective, Rein activated his Sixth Form, partially transforming into an old dragon for a significant power boost. He landed a powerful blow and fiery breath, visibly damaging the monster, but the creature adapted and continued to fight fiercely.

"Boom!"

With the suddenness of a lightning bolt, Rein surged upward, driving a kick into his foe and launching them into the air. Without a moment's pause, the Red Dragon’s Head struck, unleashing a searing Fiery Breath.

"Hiss~"

The adversary writhed in agony while suspended in mid-air, its scythes swinging wildly as it roared. However, it seemed completely helpless against the invisible, scorching torrent of flames.

"Clang!"

Just as the blaze began to fade, a massive dragon claw lunged out from the embers, delivering another heavy, hacking blow!

"Crack!"

In a desperate scramble, the Black Mist Claw Monster raised a scythe to parry the strike. However, having been softened by the intense heat of the Fiery Breath, the darkened blades could no longer endure the sheer force of Rein’s dragon claw and were snapped instantly.

The impact sent the opponent crashing down onto the metal floor of the corridor.

"Void Breath!"

Completing a triple combination, Rein followed up with a Void Breath before charging forward. He targeted the Black Mist Claw Monster as it struggled on the ground, raining down a relentless dual-claw assault from both left and right!

The remainder of the struggle held no suspense!

After Rein discharged several more breaths, the Black Mist Claw Monster finally ceased its roaring. Its limbs curled inward, leaving its form looking like a withered, desiccated infant.

"Snap!"

With one final stomp from Rein, the shriveled remains of his opponent shattered into fragments, looking like broken bits of coal!

"Is it finally dead?"

"Whew~~"

Rein exhaled deeply. He had expended three attribute points during the encounter, essentially refreshing his stamina three separate times.

While the old dragon form was undeniably powerful and provided a significant boost to his combat capabilities, the cost in stamina was also much higher.

At that moment, Rein’s jagged wounds began to knit together rapidly. His clash with the Black Mist Claw Monster had not been without its price.

Before the creature was destroyed, Wisps of black smoke had latched onto Rein’s injuries like a bone-deep virus, stalling his natural regeneration. However, with the enemy vanquished, the dark smoke started to evaporate quickly.

"No Divine Power Crystal dropped from this?"

Rein didn't immediately turn to loot the human wizard's remains. Instead, he waited for his body to finish healing, his brow furrowed in concentration.

He had initially wondered if the black mist was an avatar of an Evil God. If that were the case, his previous experiences suggested the system should have triggered an absorption prompt upon its defeat.

Curiously, despite killing this entity—which Rein had dubbed the Black Mist Claw Monster—the system remained silent, offering no absorption notification.

Nevertheless, the rewards in Golden Skill Points were quite substantial; Rein had earned 196 Golden Skill Points from that single fight.

"It appears the enemy wasn't a divine avatar, but rather some kind of evil entity? Or perhaps a strange phenomenon birthed from Divine Power?"

"That would explain why the system couldn't absorb it," Rein mused quietly.

Yet, these were nothing more than guesses.

Furthermore, having tasted the opponent's power, Rein discarded any plans of exploring the subsequent level.

In his estimation, the strength of that monster had exceeded the combined might of Sword Saint Terrio and the Water Element Dawn Wizard, Hernandez.

It was easy to foresee that as the black mist thickened further down, and monsters became more common, the risks would become astronomical.

Rein shook his head, choosing not to linger on the thought.

He walked quickly toward the corpse of the human wizard, halting a few meters away. Cautiously, he used a Metal Morphing Spell to create a thrusting sword, using it to prod the body several times.

Once he was certain there was no lingering threat, Rein leaned down and began a quick search of the remains.

He soon discovered a pendant hanging from the man's chest.

The item consisted of a delicate gold chain and a rhombic crystal. Rein detected no energy coming from it, indicating it wasn't a potent witch artifact.

After a moment of consideration, he tucked it away and resumed his search.

This time, he felt a solid, square object tucked into the inner pocket of the wizard's robes. Pulling it out, he found a black diary that looked strangely familiar.

"Huh? This material is nearly the same as the black leather diary I saw in the Valziger School’s safe." Rein’s eyebrows rose, a flash of satisfaction crossing his face.

"Could this be the Sect Leader himself?"

Even though the area was dangerous, Rein decided to take a quick look inside.

He flipped rapidly to the final pages of the journal:

"...Damn, I don't know if anyone will ever find this diary, but regardless, I must record this..."

"To whoever follows, I am likely dead by the time you read these words."

"...But if given the chance to choose again, I would still come! Because beyond the mechanical achievements of the Ancient Goblins, there is a secret known to only a tiny few!"

"A secret of immense value to myself and every Metal Series Wizard!"

"The truth is, the Ancient Goblin Empire was the original source of the Steel Heart Meditation Method!"

"To put it simply, if you want the complete version of this Advanced Meditation Method, you have to find it here. If you belong to a different school or aren't even a wizard, I beg you to spread this information or sell it."

"Believe me, Metal Series Wizards would pay any price to satisfy you in exchange for this secret!"
