Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys Chapter 1469 - 505: The Secret of the Ruins
Previously on Wizard starting from shoeing donkeys...
"Clang!!!"
The two combatants immediately recoiled, putting ten meters of distance between them after another violent clash.
To neutralize the momentum of the impact, the Black Mist Monster dug its lower claws into the metallic floor, leaving deep, jagged gouges that showered sparks.
Rein also stepped back twice, quickly stabilizing his footing and readjusting his combat stance.
He scrutinized his foe with his three pairs of dragon eyes, searching for a flaw in its defense.
Unfortunately, he found none.
Based on their previous trades, this Black Mist Claw Monster appeared superior in speed, raw power, and physical resilience to any Dragon Descendant or Fierce Species Rein had ever fought.
Furthermore, the creature possessed a mental-interfering roar and a dark mist attack that functioned much like a Dragon Breath.
This indicated the enemy was a versatile fighter, capable of both long-range bombardment and lethal melee, leaving it with virtually no obvious weaknesses.
As for its vulnerability to various schools of witchcraft?
Rein lacked the time to conduct a thorough evaluation.
However, fire energy seemed to exert a slight suppressive effect on the beast.
Rein had tested two different breaths, and the Fiery Breath had proven more effective at damaging the creature than the Void Breath.
This suggested that high-level fire element witchcraft might be the key to securing a kill.
"Is it weak against the fire element?"
The problem was Rein's lack of proficiency in that area; he hadn't mastered any advanced fire element witchcraft. In a high-stakes battle like this, casting First or Second Level fire spells would be utterly futile.
"If that's the case, it is the perfect moment to test the new form."
Rein felt no trepidation; instead, a spark of excitement flickered in his dragon eyes. Since his bloodline concentration had improved and he gained the Sixth Form, he hadn't yet had the chance to deploy it.
Because the corridor was too cramped, he couldn't undergo a full transformation into the old dragon.
He could, however, utilize a partial old dragon transformation.
"Sixth Form!"
Following Rein’s thunderous cry, his dragon scales darkened significantly, reaching a pitch-black hue that rivaled the color of the Black Mist Monster.
His dragon claws expanded and sharpened, lengthening by several dozen centimeters and glinting with a murderous, cold light.
Across his partially transformed body, veins throbbed like writhing earthworms, his muscles bulging and thickening with newfound power.
"So this is what a thirty percent boost in agility and strength feels like?"
Rein could feel a volcanic, explosive energy circulating through his draconic frame.
"Bang!"
He stomped down, and the magically reinforced metal floor shattered like soft clay, creating a meter-wide crater that emitted thin wisps of heat from the friction.
Propelled by that massive rebound force, Rein lunged at his foe like a projectile.
The narrow tunnel roared as the air howled behind his transformed figure.
The Black Mist Monster was clearly caught off guard by Rein's explosive increase in speed; before it could dodge, a massive claw descended with lightning velocity.
"Zzz!"
A cascade of sparks erupted!
Under the might of the old dragon form's claw, the two scythe-like limbs on the monster's right side were shredded, and its entire body was sent flying violently.
Rein did not let up his assault.
"Roar!!!"
Rein’s Red Dragon Head locked onto the airborne monster and unleashed a Fiery Breath!
The flame started as a bowl-sized orb before expanding into a meter-wide cone of destruction that swallowed the enemy whole.
"Hiss hiss!"
Trapped in the air, the Black Mist Claw Monster shrieked in pain as the flames scorched it.
The force of the Fiery Breath pinned it against the ceiling of the passageway, and only after the fire dissipated did the creature crash heavily to the floor.
Rein noted that the creature's black exterior had shifted from a scale-like texture to a softened, liquid-like state, releasing plumes of acrid black smoke.
Furthermore, the fire damage seemed to have physically shrunk the opponent's size.
"That worked well!"
"I need to finish this while I have the advantage!"
Rein refused to give his opponent a moment to recover.
With a sharp whistle of wind, he charged once more.
However, the Black Mist Claw Monster sprang up in response; clearly, while Rein's attack was damaging, it wasn't a death blow.
"Clang! Clang! Zzz!"
Two black shadows—one large, one small—blurred through the corridor. Sparks showered the area as dragon claws collided with scythes, and limbs grated against the metal walls and floor.
The air was filled with the constant, harsh din of clashing metal and the glow of friction.
Rein was certain that if the Dawn Wizard Hernandez or the Sword Saint Terrio were here, they wouldn't last a moment against this beast.
The monster's shape had shifted again; its waist had narrowed while its shoulders widened to support its scythes, resulting in a noticeable gain in speed and power.
Though the improvement was only about ten percent, it was clear the creature was restructuring its biology to counter Rein's heightened offensive.
However, Rein's power surge seemed to have hit a threshold the monster couldn't easily overcome. Despite its adaptations, the creature remained firmly on the defensive.
Rein observed that under his relentless and heavy strikes, the monster's two obsidian scythes were beginning to vibrate and show faint signs of fracturing.
