What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company? Chapter 987: This Thing Is Unfair!

I took out my assault cannon and engaged my thrusters, flying straight towards the giant, moving cloud that was filled with flying tentacle drones.

Following right behind me was Amber and Yumiko while the others hung back to provide fire support.

Yumiko would only be assisting us in breaking through the tentacle cloud but the actual fight with the Leviathan would be dependent on Amber and myself.

I watched as green coloured flashes of light appeared in the cloud of tentacle drones and immediately shifted myself to engage evasive manoeuvres.

Green laser beams sliced through the space I had been and I continued to fly in an erratic pattern to avoid them while still getting close to the cloud.

As soon as I got within range of the cloud, I lifted my assault cannon and started firing at the tentacle drones. I didn’t even need to aim since there were so many of them that I couldn’t possibly miss as long as I fired in that direction.

Several of my kinetic rounds exploded against a few of the drones, blasting them into pieces and sending their remains floating off into the darkness of space.

Good, they can be killed. That was the main problem I was worried about.

If those things couldn’t die or something, I would have ordered a full retreat.

I sped towards the cloud, doing a roll to avoid more lasers aimed at me before returning fire.

A black figure then sped past me and it took me a moment to realise that was Yumiko’s Exo-Knight, her machine a blurred form that shot towards the tentacle drones.

The drones weren’t even able to target Yumiko as she sped towards them, the lasers they were shooting were all fired at where she was a second ago.

By the time said lasers were even fired, Yumiko was already a good distance away from where those drones had been aiming at.

Not to be outdone, I boosted after her as well, though it seems like most of the attention had shifted to her as it was obvious the tentacle drones found her to be a bigger threat.

With her taking their attention, I could focus on firing at the tentacle drones too.

That was also when the girls supporting us started opening fire as well, shooting off a salvo that struck against a good chunk of those drones and thinning their numbers.

I put the assault cannon away and pulled out the energy halberd as I got close to the cloud.

I could just hang around here and focus on destroying the drones but they were not the main target here. Even if we killed the drones, it wouldn’t matter if we couldn’t deal with the Leviathan.

Yumiko had already reached the cloud and I could see red streaks of light slicing through the drones as she became a hurricane of death.

Any of the drones that were in her way were completely sliced apart, leaving only broken pieces of rock and tentacles behind.

I flew through the gap that she had made for me, using my halberd to slice through the few that tried to block my way.

I’m not sure if these drones operated on an individual level or they were a hive mind where they are being controlled by the Leviathan itself to defend it, but it didn’t matter as I broke through the cloud to continue my flight towards the giant creature.

Amber was right behind me, using her autocannons to shoot down the last few drones that tried to bar her way as well.

A big chunk of them turned around to face us, their tentacle tips glowing green as it prepared to shoot at us to stop us from going any further.

Before they could fire, a black blur flew behind them before red streaks of light sliced through the tentacle drones, cutting them down before they could even fire their lasers.

Yumiko then appeared behind us, her swords held at her sides.

"Go, Mistress. I will hold them back," She assured me through the comms.

You are so cool, Yumiko. I’m gonna pat you lots later!

I activated my boosters again, flying straight towards the giant rock tentacle Leviathan.

I spread my wings, letting the ’feathers’ detach themselves to point their muzzle at the Leviathan.

With a single thought from me, the space between the Leviathan and me was filled with the light from my laser drones.

My hail of lasers struck against the Leviathan’s side, shredding through the tentacles that had been outside of the rock and burning holes through them.

I wasn’t really sure if that actually hurt the creature but from how the rest of the tentacles seemed to be recoiling into the rock, I would assume that it was indeed working.

And it was definitely pissed.

As though to confirm my thoughts, one of the larger sized tentacles reared up above the rock with its tip pointed at me, a green glow gathering at the tip.

I immediately gathered all of the laser drones together and dove away, right on time to avoid a giant laser beam blasting through the space that I had been occupying just a moment ago.

Amber flew past me, shooting her autocannons at the exposed tentacles to force them back inside the rock.

I tried shooting at the rock to see what would happen but... Yeah, it was just shooting a rock.

How are we supposed to kill this thing anyway?

I’m assuming that the Leviathan itself was just a tentacle mass that managed to find this giant asteroid and grew into this giant Leviathan entity or something.

Which means the actual creature was deep inside the rock itself and while shooting these tentacles might force it to retract itself, it won’t really help us kill it if the Leviathan was going to just hide inside the asteroid.

So if we really wanted to kill it, we’d probably need to find the core of the Leviathan or something that was somewhere inside the asteroid.

Before I decided to try and dive into the rock itself to find the core, there was one more thing I wanted to try.

I focused on gathering all the laser drones together and watched as it assembled together in front of me to form a large cannon, the laser drones slotting seamlessly to form the giant gun.

I grabbed it and pointed the barrel at the centre of the rock, pulling the trigger to charge up the cannon before it fired out a giant beam of energy.

The beam of energy struck on the surface of the asteroid and I watched in satisfaction as the entire rock shook visibly before it was pushed away very slightly, its path now a little different than it was before.

But aside from that and a rather large crater on the surface of the rock, I don’t think I did much damage to it.

Ok, that means even if we couldn’t kill it... I just found a way to at least alter its course.

It might take a while since this cannon would need some time to cool down before it can be fired again but... Maybe I could even use this to carve a hole directly to the Leviathan’s core?

Right then, Amber’s voice came from over the comms, "Everyone!! The Leviathan has a core in the middle of its body under all that rock! If we want to kill it, that’s what we have to aim for!"

Funny how I came to that conclusion just a few moments before she did, though I assume she was using her Psionic ability to sense the Leviathan itself and found the core through that.

Just as I was about to tell her my idea of diving into one of the holes and using my halberd to slice through the tentacles blocking me to reach the core, she continued.

"That’s not all! The rock is also part of its body!! It’s not even actually rock! It’s an exoskeleton armour that it has formed around itself!!"

What?

As I was trying to understand what she just said, I realised that the small crater formed by my laser cannon was already in the midst of ’healing’ itself as it reformed back to its pristine condition without a scratch remaining.

Wait what? It can even regenerate its armour like that?!

And as if that wasn’t enough, I also found the tentacles I had shredded with my laser earlier had suddenly returned, the stumps that remained having grown new tentacles to take their place.

What the heck is with its regeneration ability?! Isn’t that a little too OP?! That’s unfair?!

You have a rock-like exoskeleton that can act as your armour and giant tentacles that can shoot lasers which you can both regenerate and repair easily!!

How the heck is anyone supposed to even reach your core to kill you?! This is such bullshit!

Someone needs to patch this!!

Do we even have something that can pierce through multiple layers of stone and also these fleshy tentacles that might stand in the way of getting to the core?!
