Kaito's attempt to manipulate the protagonist by claiming Yuki would betray them failed when the protagonist's dog brutally mauled him and his bodyguards. The protagonist then ordered the dog to finish Kaito off, leaving no witnesses.

The Mastiff bounded over to me, Kaito’s spine still dangling from its mouth.

With its tail wagging furiously, it gazed up at me expectantly, clearly soliciting some head pats.

"Good girl~" I cooed, ruffling its fur and eliciting a soft whine of contentment.

I took a moment to survey the scene, impressed by the sheer brutality of the dog’s work; the humans here had been utterly ravaged.

If I hadn’t already been convinced of the perilous nature of canines in this world, this display certainly would have solidified that belief.

However, such stark realizations were fleeting when the very creature that had wrought such destruction was now happily accepting my affectionate attention.

Simply adorable.

"Tera?" Amber’s voice chimed from my Codex.

"I’m here. Did you manage to obtain what you needed?"

"Well... it seems that fellow had activated an alarm. The guards outside are now heading this way, most likely to your location."

As if summoned, a ‘ding’ echoed from the elevator serving this floor, and its doors began to part.

The Mastiff instantly relinquished its grisly trophy, whirling around to face the opening elevator, positioning itself defensively before me.

There was no need for deliberation; I swiftly gestured towards the elevator doors, exclaiming, "Go girl! Go girl!"

A cheerful bark answered my command as it launched itself towards the elevator in a blur of motion.

One of the armored guards had barely stepped clear of the lift when a colossal canine materialized before him, assaulting him and driving him to the ground.

The dog unleashed a fierce howl before raking its paw downwards, its claws rending through the guard’s throat and armor as if they were mere paper.

"What the hell?!!"

"What IS that thing?!!"

"It got Kenny!!"

"Shoot it, damn it!!"

Without a second’s pause, the dog retreated into the confines of the elevator just as a bullet whizzed past where it had been moments before.

The Mastiff proceeded to dispatch two more guards, their throats torn asunder, before vaulting off the elevator wall, using it as a springboard to attack the remaining guards at the rear.

It clamped its jaws onto another guard’s head, crushing it with a sickening pop, splattering blood across the elevator's interior.

The few survivors attempted to flee the elevator, but the last guard wasn’t quick enough. The dog latched onto his leg, sending him tumbling to the floor.

He desperately reached out a hand towards his comrades, but before any could react, he was dragged back into the elevator, his screams abruptly silenced.

From my vantage point, I watched with detached amusement as the guards, utterly fixated on the elevator, completely overlooked my presence.

They raised their weapons, poised to fire the moment the dog reappeared.

Deciding to lend a hand, I called out to the guards, "Hey!! Above you!!"

A few turned to identify the source of the voice, but the majority instinctively looked upward.

Seizing the opportune moment, the Mastiff burst from the elevator in a single, bounding leap, crashing into the cluster of guards and shattering their formation.

It tore through the chests of three guards with a single, sweeping motion before snapping the throat of a fourth.

With only two remaining, the dog propelled itself upwards, its hind legs smashing into one guard’s chest, sending him hurtling backward to impact the wall with a resounding crack.

I noted the deep indentations left on the armor and had no doubt the man’s lungs had been similarly crushed.

The other guard fared no better. Using the momentum from its kick, the Mastiff launched itself at him, its jaws closing around the rifle he held, snapping it in two.

To his credit, the guard swiftly retreated, drawing a knife and adopting a defensive stance, his composure remarkably intact.

Alas, his preparedness was akin to bringing a toothpick to a dinosaur fight. The dog casually swiped a paw, and the knife blade fractured upon contact with its claw.

The guard stared, stunned, at his broken weapon for a crucial second before the Mastiff ended his resistance with a decisive bite to the throat.

He crumpled to his knees, hands clawing at his neck, gurgling his final breath before collapsing face-first, a pool of blood rapidly forming around him.

Once again, the Mastiff approached me, its tail wagging with joyous abandon, prompting another appreciative pat to its head.

Still unbelievably cute~

Well, we can’t linger here with more guards inbound… Hmm, an idea just struck me.

I went over and directed the dog to wedge a corpse between the lift doors, rendering it unusable.

Then, I initiated a call to Yuki, and the CEO appeared on my screen moments later.

"Is there an issue?" she inquired, cutting straight to the chase.

I proceeded to show her Kaito's deceased form, his neck brutally torn open with a section of his spine missing.

She nodded, "As expected. I presume the entire building's security detail is converging on you as we speak?"

"That is correct," I confirmed with a nod. "I am currently in his office and have managed to disable the sole elevator providing access, at least for now."

She contemplated for a moment before speaking again, "Are you trapped up there as well, or do you possess a means of escape?"

"I can depart if I choose to."

"In that case, I have devised a plan. The dog is still with you, correct?"

I tilted the camera downwards, revealing my hand patting the dog, which sat beside me, its tail wagging happily.

She acknowledged with a nod, "Leave the dog there and rendezvous with me outside the building. I will dispatch the location shortly."

"What exactly do you have in mind?"

"I will inform them of their canine predicament and offer my assistance in resolving it, rather than leaving them utterly helpless. Then, I will bring you in, we will retrieve the dog, and subsequently expose that scoundrel for jeopardizing the entire station."

"And how precisely will you convince them that you were aware of their dog issue without revealing that you are the orchestrator?"

"That's simple. I can simply state that my own dogs detected the problem and led me here."

I arched an eyebrow, "Would they genuinely believe such an obvious fabrication? Surely they aren't that gullible, are they?"

"They remain unaware of my dogs' true capabilities and limitations. They will not think to question it."

Well... I suppose considering the reputation of dogs in this universe, they would readily accept any outlandish claim made about them.

When you consider that these creatures can rend power armor with their jaws and crush tanks as if they were made of soft cheese, the ability to sense another dog nearby likely ranks as the least astonishing of their feats.

"Fair enough. I will meet you outside then."

I concluded the call and bestowed a few more affectionate pats upon the dog before raising a finger. "Stay right here, okay? I shall return momentarily."

The dog responded with a happy bark, and I walked away from it.

Glancing back to ensure its compliance, I saw that it remained precisely where I left it.

Upon noticing me looking back, its tail began wagging anew.

Ugh... I had to exert immense self-control to resist the urge to dash back and resume petting the adorable creature...

She is simply too cute and fluffy!

Don't worry! I'll be back, girl! Just wait patiently right there, alright?

I approached the wall and instructed Renata to perform her trick once more, melting my way through the solid barrier.

Once again, I checked behind me, and the dog wagged its tail once more upon seeing me look, its mouth opening slightly as it panted adorably.

Ughh!! Why must she be so irresistibly cute?!

That settles it! I am absolutely taking this dog with me once all of this is concluded!
