What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company? Chapter 863: Who Should We Work For?

So, I've just discovered I'm apparently also a Biotamer... And a Psionic simultaneously?
Turning to Miss Yuki, I asked with sincere curiosity, "Miss Yuki... Just out of curiosity... Could a Biotamer also be a Psionic?"
She seemed to ponder this, a frown creasing her brow. "I've never encountered such a situation... At least... I don't believe it's feasible. None of the Biotamers I'm acquainted with possess Psionic abilities, and if a Psionic were also a Biotamer... they likely wouldn't reveal it."
"And why is that?"
"Because it's generally perceived that Biotamers are inferior to Psionics. Therefore, a Psionic might be seen as lesser if they were to reveal themselves as a Biotamer."
"That seems counterintuitive... Wouldn't possessing two distinct powers make them stronger?"
Shrugging, she replied, "I don't set the standards. All I know is that I've never heard of such a possibility."
Amber and Lea were already directing pointed glances my way.
Look, I'm as in the dark as you are, alright? The best I can offer is that I'm from another universe entirely! You two should be the ones explaining this to me!
Yuki leaned in closer, her voice softening. "So... Are you absolutely certain you aren't part of any particular family? Perhaps a long-lost descendant?"
I shook my head firmly. "I sincerely doubt that... If I were, I believe they would have already found and retrieved me by now."
And frankly, I was quite certain of it because I wasn't even from this universe to begin with.
She hummed thoughtfully. "Hmm... I see... In that case, would you consider marrying into my family? I have several brothers who are still unmarried, and I can assure you, you would never have to work again. While we may not rival the influence of major Noble families, we possess our own considerable connections and are sufficiently prosperous to guarantee you a life of utmost comfort."
Meeting her gaze directly, I stated, "I am a futa."
Without missing a beat, the female CEO pointed to herself. "In that case, what about me? I am also currently without a partner, and I would gladly accept you should you be willing."
I blinked in surprise. "But you barely even know me?"
"The dogs seem to like you. I believe that is sufficient reason for me to decide you are worth spending the rest of my life with."
Well... It's difficult to argue with that logic... Even Lea and Amber were nodding in agreement.
I shook my head, gesturing towards my companions. "Apologies, but I already have my own harem and have no intention of settling down with someone I've just met over them. Furthermore, I cherish my current way of life and have no plans to alter it anytime soon."
She clasped her hands together. "If that is the case, what if I were to offer you a substantial sum of money simply to father a child with me? I am prepared to offer any price; you need only name it."
Oh dear... These noble archetypes really do sound alike, don't they? She's acting exactly like Eleanor right now...
Letting out a sigh, I replied, "I'm afraid I must decline that proposal."
"Even if I told you that you could name any price?"
"Even then, I would still reject your offer. The issue is not money."
"I see... That is regrettable... Should you ever reconsider, please do inform me. This offer remains perpetually available to you."
"Err... I shall keep that in mind, I suppose... Moving on... What exactly is the deal with Biotamers? From our conversation thus far, it seems they are generally regarded as a rank below Psionics, correct?"
She gestured towards the dogs once more. "As you may have gathered, the ability to command animals does indeed make us a significant threat. Therefore, it is far more advantageous for us to be allied with you rather than opposed, wouldn't you agree?"
"But, if memory serves, aren't dogs capable of dealing with Psionics? I recall someone mentioning that even Psionics fear dogs."
"Certainly, if the dogs are specifically trained to counter Psionics. During the conflict with the Psionics, dogs were indeed employed against them and were arguably the most effective weapon. However, if a Psionic is already aware of the dog's presence, and the fact that a person is controlling it... they can neutralize both threats with relative ease."
"I understand... Wait... Does this imply that one must be a Biotamer to obtain a Bio-Weapon License?"
She shook her head. "Not necessarily, but I would venture that all Biotamers possess Bio-Weapon Licenses, though not all Bio-Weapon License holders are Biotamers. There are alternative methods for individuals to control creatures without relying solely on this particular power."
Ah, I see now... I remember someone controlling a dog with some sort of collar. The dog didn't even obey him properly when he wasn't using the collar, so that guy was definitely not a Biotamer.
"Additionally," Yuki continued, her gaze on me somewhat peculiar as she eyed me through half-closed lids. "You should be aware that if you were to declare yourself a Biotamer, securing that license would become significantly simpler for you."
Well... I suppose that's logical. However, I have a hunch that path would be closed off to me, as it would inevitably spark numerous questions for which I have no answers. Therefore, I believe it's best if no one else discovers my capability to perform tasks akin to a Biotamer's.
Sensing the conversation veering into an unusual territory, I attempted to steer it back to its original course.
"Didn't you mention a task you wished for us to undertake? What is it?" I prompted her.
She recomposed herself, stating, "Ah, I nearly overlooked it. My apologies for the distraction, and thank you for the reminder. You've already witnessed my zoo, so the arrangement should be quite straightforward. I intend to open it for a limited number of select guests, and I would greatly appreciate your assistance in maintaining control over some of the creatures housed here. Initially, my plan was solely to enlist your help with the 'Walking Disaster' you brought for me. But now that I understand you can manage various species, I wish for you to oversee additional sections of the establishment."
I furrowed my brow. "Is this intended to be a full-time commitment? Because I have no intention of remaining here permanently, you understand?"
She promptly shook her head. "Not at all, there's no need for you to be concerned. It will only be required for a few days while the event is operational."
"Uh huh... And what happens after I depart? Won't that pose a considerable risk to your event then?"
"My reason for hiring you is purely precautionary, stemming from suspicions that one of my business rivals might be plotting sabotage. You see... I did mention we are a security company, correct? I'm currently vying for the exclusive security contract for this Pleasure Station, but another competitor is pursuing the same objective. He isn't known for his integrity, leading me to suspect he might resort to underhanded tactics to discredit me. Given that this event I'm hosting will include the owner of the Pleasure Station, he might attempt actions that could place me in a difficult situation."
I inhaled sharply. "I'm going to hazard a guess that this business rival you speak of has a name that starts with 'Kaito' and ends with 'Matsumoto,' am I correct?"
Her eyes narrowed slightly. "I assume you've had dealings with him then?"
I nodded. "Indeed, it appears he had some sort of tracking device installed on that turtle and subsequently alerted the police to apprehend me for attempting to smuggle it onto the station. Actually... Wouldn't it be problematic if they were to discover your collection, considering I presume some of them are acquired illegally?"
She regarded me for a moment before replying, "While I am curious as to how you managed to bypass the inspectors, I will address your question directly. Regarding the legality, it is permissible for me to own such creatures... My methods of procurement, however, were somewhat questionable, and that is all you need to know on the matter."
Ah, that makes sense... Understood then.
"All you need to know is that I possess a trade secret for getting them past the inspectors. But moving on... I was escorted to Kaito, and he attempted to persuade me that you were orchestrating a plan to release the turtle on the station, thereby causing chaos and framing him for the incident."
She clicked her tongue in mild annoyance. "Tsk... I should have anticipated that an imbecile like him would concoct such a ludicrous scheme... So, my suspicion that he would act foolishly was indeed correct... I take it, from you relaying this information to me, that you will not be aiding him?"
Well... I might as well capitalize on this opportunity.
I leaned back in my chair, a suggestive tone in my voice. "If the compensation is adequate... He offered me two hundred million Credits, just for your information..."
"I will offer double that amount."
Yes! This is perfect.
