What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company? Chapter 820: Testing Dome

We relocated to a different sector of the station to conduct the testing, specifically choosing a remote area far removed from the primary facilities.
They referred to this area as the Testing Dome, asserting that it would be the safest environment for continuing their peculiar experiment.
While traversing the long corridor leading there, I noticed it was engineered to allow that section to be jettisoned entirely if the situation demanded it.
I surmised that if things spiraled out of control within the Testing Dome, they could simply detach it from the station, letting it drift into the void without compromising the remainder of the facility.
Upon entry, I recognized it as a massive, expanded version of the room Theresa had utilized for our initial job interview—the same chamber equipped with the physical simulator for piloting Exo-Knights.
Although the previous simulator was quite spacious, this iteration was at least ten times larger.
It possessed the capacity to simulate multiple full-sized Exo-Knights simultaneously, which I assumed was its primary function.
Given the dome's structural integrity, it was the ideal venue for me to test my capabilities without the risk of causing peripheral damage.
The group gathered at the observation deck while I positioned myself in the center of the dome.
Rosalia required a few moments to calibrate the equipment, leaving me to wait in place as the system prepared itself.
Over the intercom, Rosalia’s voice echoed, "Alright, Miss Tera! Go all out! Just let us know if you require any specific adjustments!"
I arched an eyebrow, questioning, "Are you requesting a performance similar to what I did at the previous site? Are you certain this will be safe?"
Rosalia let out a chuckle, "Ahahaha! Do not worry! This facility is engineered to withstand testing for the most volatile weapons we manufacture! We have triggered numerous explosions here, and the structure remains perfectly sound!"
I found myself unsure whether being equated to an explosive device was something to be flattered by or deeply concerned about.
However, given the state of their laboratory earlier, I suppose I cannot blame them for their caution.
"I am unsure... Could I not simply restrict the amount of Psionic energy I release? That would be safer, surely?"
Friederike disagreed, stating, "No. We require a display of your full capacity. This will provide the data necessary to design an Exo-Knight capable of handling your potential. We refuse to construct something that only functions if you cripple your own capabilities."
I suppose that is the pride of a creator speaking.
Regardless, trusting her judgment, I drew a breath and proceeded to deactivate my self-imposed limiter once again.
I made sure to alert Renata beforehand so she would be prepared. Otherwise, she might melt again, and explaining my eldritch-entity-clothing that calls me 'Daddy' is not an experience I wish to repeat.
... Truly, a bizarre existence I lead.
The familiar, metaphorical weight lifted from my soul, and that characteristic sensation enveloped me.
Like before, a sensation akin to being wrapped in a warm blanket manifested, followed by sparks erupting from the floor near my feet.
The ground beneath me began to recede; however, because it was composed of individual modular cubes, it did not feel like destruction. It was as if the cubes were repelled by my presence, naturally forming a crater around me.
Fortunately, I was already levitating, or it might have been quite humiliating to plummet into the hole.
I worried that things might spiral, but beyond the occasional electrical arc snaping near me, nothing catastrophic occurred.
I remain curious as to what exactly triggers these phenomena.
I wanted to observe the girls' reactions, but since the viewing deck was partitioned by one-way glass, they remained hidden from my view.
"What are the readings?" I asked, scanning the dome and wondering if I had shredded the sensors as I had previously.
When silence followed for several seconds, panic set in—I feared I had fried the intercom system.
Just as I prepared to dampen my Psionic energy, Rosalia’s voice crackled over the speakers.
"This... this is incredible!! Oh my gods!! Miss Tera!! Are you aware that the amount of Psionic energy you are exuding is basically mmnnggghhh!!!"
Her voice cut abruptly, as if her mouth had been forcefully covered.
Sounds of a scuffle emerged, and I was about to fly toward the deck when Friederike took over the channel.
"Apologies for the interruption, Miss Tera. The readings are phenomenal, and the sensors remain fully operational. Please, proceed with your display. Would you like us to deploy targets?"
I nodded toward the empty air, "Yes, please. Otherwise, I lack a frame of reference."
After a brief pause, several cubes rose from the floor, assembling into human-sized approximations of Exo-Knights.
They were unarmed, likely due to a fear of accidentally harming me—even though I was a Psionic.
Despite the revelations, it was clear they still viewed me as a precious specimen... or a test subject.
Regardless, this was my first time exerting my full Psionic potential, and I was just as curious about the outcome as they were.
The targets drifted toward me, and I reached out, intending to repel them.
I barely exerted any mental force before the entire group of targets was flung back, slamming into the wall with enough intensity to rattle the dome.
Good... I had been terrified of using too much force and punching them through the structure, so I had deliberately suppressed my output.
If I had to compare the effort, it was like a casual flick of the finger rather than a full-body shove.
The wall absorbed the impact, crumbling the targets back into cubes before re-absorbing them. The floor shifted, undulating to release yet another human-sized Exo-Knight.
I extended my hand to concentrate on the new enemy, attempting to exert precise telekinetic control over its physical form.
The Exo-Knight froze instantly, fully yielding to my will.
I made it spin like a top, sent it orbiting around me, and then tore it in half before launching the pieces away.
Both halves struck the perimeter and were reclaimed by the wall—all with trivial effort.
Another target emerged, this one twice the size of the predecessor and equipped with a club-like protrusion.
As it surged toward me, I locked it midair, immobilizing it entirely.
Determined to test my limits, I focused my mental strength, attempting to crush it.
Right at the moment I reached the threshold for destruction, Rosalia’s voice cut through the intercom again.
"Miss Tera!! Stop, please stop!! That is enough! You are going to damage the facility if you continue! We can stop here!"
Eh? Oh... right. I suppose I became a bit over-enthusiastic. I guess if I pushed hard enough, these cubes are not immune to being pulverized.
I restricted my Psionic energy and drifted toward the exit instead of walking.
Upon reaching the observation deck, I found the two researchers franticly inputting data, faces flushed with excitement.
"This... this is insane!! All this data... My god... The possibilities!"
I cleared my throat, "I trust you remember your promise to maintain absolute confidentiality regarding this data."
"Absolutely! Do not fret, Miss Tera! Once our work is concluded, we will purge the databases entirely!"
"Good... considering there are two more Psionics for whom you will need to design Exo-Knights."
Both researchers froze, their eyes widening as I gestured toward Amber and Mara.
In response, both girls lifted themselves into the air with their own Psionic presence.
Rosalia and Friederike stared in stunned silence for a long, heavy minute... before both of them tipped over and fainted.
Hmm... perhaps I should have introduced them one at a time?
