What Do You Mean I'm The Captain Of A Yandere Mercenary Company? Chapter 821: Scanning Psionics

It took some time before they finally regained consciousness.
Rosalia sputtered out, "Goodness... What happened? I had the strangest dream that there were two additional Psionics serving on Tera’s ship..."
I looked down at the rabbit-type futa resting atop my left thigh.
Friederike was also stirring while sprawled across my right thigh, the goat-girl letting out a groan of her own, "Truly? That’s bizarre, because... I think I experienced that exact same nightmare..."
I cleared my throat pointedly. "Ahem... I hate to ruin the moment, but that was hardly a dream."
The pair blinked repeatedly before launching themselves into a sitting position at the same time to stare at me.
"What?! That wasn’t a dream?! Miss Tera, are you telling me you actually possess two other Psionics in your crew?!"
"Is it true, Miss Tera?! Surely you are jesting? We are supposed to witness one Psionic in action, but you have three appearing in a single day?!"
I remained silent, simply gesturing toward my girls instead.
They turned to see Amber and Mara offering simple, polite nods—thankfully opting not to display their powers, thereby avoiding another fainting spell.
The duo immediately scrambled to their feet. I expected them to demand a demonstration of their capabilities inside the Testing Dome, but instead, they fixed their wide-eyed gazes upon me.
"Miss Tera? Just who are you exactly?" Friederike inquired.
I blinked at her, confused. "What do you mean?"
"I mean... Your crew is comprised of three Psionics... I have heard of rogue Psionics outside the influence of Noble Families, operating on their own... But such occurrences are incredibly rare. To find a ship with even two Psionics is unheard of, unless they share a bloodline. But to have three non-noble Psionics in one place? You would have better odds winning the Galactic Lottery than stumbling upon such a thing..."
Well... I cannot argue with that logic. I was quite stunned myself when they first revealed their identities.
In truth, both of them had concealed their Psionic nature so effectively that I suspect I would have never uncovered the secret had they not confessed it personally.
I likely would have accepted that Amber’s fire mastery was merely the result of gene-modding rather than an innate Psionic gift.
Furthermore... when they mention 'rogue Psionics,' I assume they refer to the illegitimate offspring of Noble Houses who awaken their powers away from their family influence.
They differ from me in that their heritage can still be tracked to known lineages, whereas I am ostensibly the origin of my own.
I gave a casual shrug. "I suppose I’m just remarkably lucky?"
Rosalia interjected, "I would call that a drastic understatement..."
"Do you still want them to test their abilities within the Testing Dome?"
Shaking off their lingering shock, Rosalia turned to them with renewed excitement and nodded.
"Oh, yes please!! If either of you would step inside to display your powers, it would be invaluable for calibrating the design of your Exo-Knight!"
Amber and Mara exchanged a brief glance, as if deciding who would take the lead.
Eventually, Mara stepped forward and entered the dome.
Rosalia and Friederike initiated the testing sequence, causing various targets to manifest, which Mara proceeded to casually fling about using her telekinesis.
She performed nothing particularly extravagant; for her, it was simply business as usual.
The two researchers appeared somewhat let down to see Mara displaying nothing more than standard telekinetic control.
After she returned, Amber took her turn, floating gracefully into the center of the dome.
She stood still for a heartbeat before erupting into a whirlwind of flames, manipulating the fire around her to boost her flight throughout the chamber.
Both the goat-girl and the bunny-futa shrieked with delight as they watched her unleash fireballs to obliterate her targets.
I was initially concerned for the safety of the equipment, but the cubes appeared remarkably fire-resistant, showing no signs of being charred.
Or perhaps Amber was intentionally restraining her output to minimize the destruction...
Regardless, it remained an impressive spectacle, prompting Rosalia and Friederike to marvel at their terminals while uttering sounds of genuine amazement.
They provided specific instructions, such as having her focus her heat on several cubes or maintaining a massive inferno for a duration before finally recalling her.
She surged out of the Testing Dome and landed on the platform, flashing me a look of proud anticipation.
Expecting some form of acknowledgement, I reached out to pat her head. "Well done."
She squealed with delight and pulled me in for an unashamed kiss. The two researchers hardly noticed, their focus entirely absorbed by the incoming stream of data on their screens.
She finally released me, just as Rosalia and Friederike looked up, their faces etched with confusion.
"Miss... Amber, is it?" Rosalia called out.
Amber struck a pose. "That’s me! Tera’s cute and adorable lover!"
...Okay, that was honestly quite cute. I felt the urge to kiss her again.
Rosalia checked her display once more. "I gather you are an Elemental Psionic, correct?"
"That is accurate. Is there something wrong with that?"
"Hmm... Not necessarily... It is just... fascinating. I mean, there are several established theories regarding Psionic mechanics... but I suppose Miss Tera is an outlier, given she is a first-generation Psionic, so the typical records might not apply... However..."
The bunny-futa trailed off, lost in deep contemplation.
Friederike took the lead, shifting her gaze to me. "Why does Miss Tera possess a far higher concentration and volume of Psionic energy than you do, despite not being an Elemental Psionic?"
Amber gave a shrug. "Like you said, she is a first-generation, naturally awakened Psionic. That might be the cause, don't you think?"
I considered this as a logical explanation for my own high energy readings until a crucial detail crossed my mind...
Amber had not awakened her powers naturally; she had relied on stimulants to achieve them.
Naturally, she was not about to disclose that secret, so she utilized the 'natural awakening' story to bridge the gap.
To my relief, the pair seemed to accept this reasoning and returned to their data.
"This is... an immense amount of data," Rosalia muttered, scrolling through a screen filled with complex charts.
Friederike nodded grimly. "If this information were to be leaked... it would cause a massive scandal."
Mara spoke up, her tone sharp. "Which is perfectly why this will remain private, yes? Once the transaction is complete, every shred of this data will be permanently scrubbed, correct?"
The researchers flinched slightly at Mara’s thinly veiled threat before nodding vigorously.
"Absolutely! We will ensure no trace of this remains once we are finished! You may rely on us!"
Mara gave me a pointed look, signaling that she trusted them just as much as she trusted her own kin—which is to say, not in the slightest.
I leaned toward my collar. "Renata?"
"Ehehe~ Don't fret, Daddy! I shall embed a copy of myself within their systems to guarantee nothing leaks and that all evidence is purged! Should they attempt any funny business, I will inform you immediately!"
How very reliable.
I still had one burning question, however.
"So, what were the results of my scan? I am honestly quite curious."
Rosalia flicked her wrists to summon a new display, taking a moment to study the results.
"Well... as I mentioned, your Psionic readings are literally off the charts..."
The screen updated to reveal a line graph where the data trended far above the intended boundaries. Beside it, a bar graph showed a column stretching past its allotted space, with the numbers below it reduced to a chaotic mess of symbols because the system could not fit the data into the frame.
I tilted my head. "Right... But what does this actually imply?"
Rosalia hesitated, glancing toward my girls, which made me wonder why she needed their input.
Mara provided the answer instead. "It means you are unique, Captain. It means you are... significantly different... from everyone else."
What? What do you mean—Oh. I see.
I am from a different universe... Got it. I should probably keep my mouth shut from here on out.
