Unlimited Power - The Arcane Path 752 Chapter 748

Ready to strike, they found themselves pausing as a sun materialized before them. While their newfound power was certainly convenient, its capabilities had limits. And confronting a sun with punches and kicks was not among them.
"Now what?" Yuki inquired.
Their options were indeed scarce. Yuki's question, though seemingly obvious, was voiced out of necessity, a recognition that asking for a plan in such a dire moment was inherently unreasonable. Yet, everyone understood what needed to be done. They only began to retreat from the monstrous entity when their mana began to deplete at a staggering rate. While the system's creator continued to siphon their mana, the sun itself was the primary aggressor, relentlessly draining their energy. Even without direct impact, the colossal ball of fire was systematically destroying their Mana Barriers.
Leon didn't need to command a retreat. An immediate backward surge was initiated by all. However, the troops' pace was just sufficient to prevent them from being consumed by the immense fireball. Leon, Tyrselle, and Ilyana possessed the ability to teleport everyone to safety instantly, but the generation of such a vast amount of mana would only serve to augment the monster's power.
"Damn it… it's so blindingly bright, I can't even gauge the sheer size of this damned sun," Hector grumbled, turning away and shielding his eyes from the overwhelming radiance behind him.
"Don't look back, you idiot!" Amanda admonished. "Though you can regenerate your eyes, we haven't got the luxury of time to waste staring behind us. Focus on escaping this inferno."
"What's your assessment, Leon?" Ilyana queried.
"I don't like this," Leon stated grimly. "This attack could annihilate our entire force, but given the sun must maintain a spherical form for stability, we should all be able to outrun it. At least, that's what logic dictates… however, a monster like that shouldn't be constrained by logic when creating such a phenomenon. Furthermore, we require time to develop this novel technique. The monster is aware of this, yet it's still granting us the necessary time."
An unsettling feeling permeated the air; everyone sensed it. Despite this palpable unease, they were powerless to halt the sun's expansion towards a potential supernova. Even if the system's creator occupied the epicenter of this cataclysm, the creature radiated a supreme confidence in its own survival, irrespective of the outcome. Such hubris could prove fatal, but to Leon's eyes, it appeared more like unwavering confidence in the system's creator.
After what felt like an eternity, Leon and his companions finally reached a vantage point from which they could observe the remnants of all monsters and sapient beings across the universe. Regrettably, they were compelled to abandon these survivors, leaving them to be consumed by the colossal sun. This caused a noticeable dip in troop morale, yet every soldier possessed the wisdom to understand that tending to the abandoned was a luxury they could not afford. Nevertheless, the relentless flight began to take its toll, and exhaustion set in. Having expended only the bare minimum of mana for survival, their minds were on the brink of collapse. In the distance, the nascent stars flickered into view, visible even to the naked eye. The sheer distance they had traversed underscored the chasm in power separating them from the system's creator. After all, the sun conjured by the monster dwarfed even an ordinary solar system.
"This is bad," Ren muttered, his voice tight with anxiety. "It could happen at any moment, and if something that immense detonates… Leon, aren't you prepared yet?"
"I'm ready, but our replicas are not," Leon replied with a shrug. "They are not developing an ordinary technique, so there's no point in getting agitated. Just wait patiently."
A collective wonder arose as to why Leon remained so composed amidst such peril. The answer, however, was straightforward. Should the worst transpire, he could generate and expend sufficient mana to transport them to the farthest reaches of the universe. This act would undoubtedly empower the colossal monster, but it was a necessary sacrifice to buy time. Yet, considering the formidable power wielded by the system's creator, Leon harbored doubts about its efficacy. Revealing Leon's true thoughts should have been a simple matter for their adversary; however, the creature appeared entirely unperturbed by Leon's potential actions. Unless… the monster was orchestrating an attack capable of obliterating the entire universe and all within it. The likelihood of such an event was slim, but if any entity could achieve it, it was undoubtedly the system's creator.
"A supernova capable of annihilating the entire universe…" Leon murmured, a shiver tracing its way down his spine despite the dire circumstances. "Merely contemplating it sends chills through me."
Despite a considerable amount of time passing, the duplicates unfortunately failed to develop the technique Leon desired. Concurrently, the architect of the assimilation system did not cause the sun to undergo a supernova. Leon's astronomical knowledge was limited, yet it seemed implausible for a common star to swell to such proportions without detonating. Nevertheless, this demonstrated the extraordinary prowess of the monstrous entity in regulating its own strength. After several hours of operation, the sun had expanded to the size of a minor galaxy, yet no indications of a supernova were apparent.
"That entity harbors no intention of annihilating us with that sun," Tyrselle remarked. "Nor does it wish to dispatch us through a supernova event."
"I suppose that is logical," Leon responded, a frown creasing his brow. "Although, it is not precisely a star. There are inherent limitations to what a physical entity can achieve by manipulating mana within our existing reality. From what I observe, we are not witnessing a sun undergoing expansion."
A scant few individuals grasped the profundity of Leon's statement. It became exceedingly evident that the monstrosity was now engaging them in earnest combat, and the spectacle before them served merely as a deliberate misdirection from its true assault.
