Leon awakens on a beach, severely injured with dislocated shoulders and broken bones after a monster brought down his plane. He discovers he has a status screen and gains skills like Pain Resistance. By allocating points to Health and Recovery, he can endure the pain and slowly heal, though his limbs remain broken.

With no other recourse, Leon compelled himself to reposition the bones of his arms, utilizing his body's weight. Immediately, he regained control over his right arm, but the agony that coursed through him caused a cold sweat to break out. Moreover, he observed that his health had diminished. Leon felt as though he was inflicting harm upon himself, yet he had to repeat the action, as the lower half of his right arm was fractured. Leon gritted his teeth and did it again; the intense pain sent shivers through him once more, but this time, no notifications appeared. The situation was becoming dire; he sustained damage, and his vision started to blur anew. He still needed to fix his legs, and even just one would suffice, provided he could propel his body away from the shoreline. Leon attempted to move his legs slightly to get a clear understanding of their condition. As he did so, a searing pain originating from his knees shot through his entire being, causing him to tremble. "Great... both my knees are completely busted." It appeared that this was the sole area of damage, so Leon mustered the strength for one final push. It would be excruciatingly painful, but he had no choice. He allocated his four available points to recovery and then twisted his entire body. Before succumbing to unconsciousness, Leon experienced another surge of agony, detected the odor of blood, and heard the sound of flesh being impaled by bone. You obtained 01 status points. Upon awakening, Leon found that the pain in his upper body had subsided. It seemed his collarbones and arms were not as severely injured as he thought, and he had managed to recover from the damage. However, Leon froze, a cold sweat breaking out as he surveyed the state of his knees. His legs were intact, but his knees... both were destroyed, and he could visibly see the fractured bones. Leon was no medical expert, but it appeared that even surgical intervention might not fully restore them. "...No, I'll be okay... I will find a way to fix this." Leon took several deep breaths to steady his nerves, uttering those words to convince himself that a solution existed. He refused to lose his legs; he absolutely wouldn't. Leon began to assess his body, his mind racing. Although his clothes were in tatters and stained with blood, his overall condition was fine. It didn't even seem like he had survived an airplane crash; everything besides his knees was unharmed, yet he was immobile from the waist down due to the critical state of his knees. "That's strange... I assumed recovery would mend my body regardless of the injury." Leon counted from one to six hundred, but he did not experience the familiar sensation of energy permeating his body. He consulted his status screen and realized his health was full. There was only one logical explanation: his body would not fully heal if there was a risk of further self-inflicted damage. "I can do this... I don't know what the hell is happening, but insane and magical things are occurring. I'm certain I can find a way to heal my knees." Leon surveyed his surroundings, confirming his location on the beach of a tropical island. It appeared quite vast, yet he didn't recall noticing it during his descent. That said, it couldn't be far from the point where the airplane had crashed. Despite this, there was no sign of other passengers or wreckage from the plane. "If only I could find some medicine to dull the pain... I could use it to numb my senses and force my bones back into place." Leon would likely lose control of his body before he could even attempt such a drastic plan, but it was the only logical course of action he could conceive. Considering the irrational actions he was capable of, he could resort to magic; he had apparently acquired such skills, suggesting the possibility of learning a healing spell. "I'm being ridiculous... Why am I even considering something so absurd... but if I survived an airplane crash, then I should be able to learn magic." It defied logic, but at that particular moment, Leon couldn't discern what was reasonable and what wasn't. Nevertheless, he decided to explore the island rather than engage in dubious activities like attempting to cast a spell. Congratulations! You have learned the skill: Strong Arms. You obtained 01 status points. Leon had finally acquired his first active skill; it was an odd experience learning skills this way, as the only true effort he exerted was in attempting to crawl. Fortunately, he didn't need to perform outlandish actions like vocalizing the skill's name to activate it. With mere thought, his arms became powerful enough to allow him to move without significant exertion. However, every ten seconds, his stamina would deplete, leaving him feeling fatigued."It's not a concern... I simply need to allow the recovery process to work its wonders." Although exerting his lower body in such a manner was far from comfortable, Leon found things became considerably simpler once he had vacated the beach and commenced crawling upon the grass. A rather substantial forest lay directly ahead, greatly increasing the likelihood of discovering sustenance and useful medicinal herbs. The sole predicament was Leon's distinct lack of knowledge concerning the identification of such plants and herbs.
