Unlimited Power - The Arcane Path 4 Chapter 03

A brief survey of the island confirmed for Leon that starvation would not be his demise. While no animals were sighted, coconuts and bananas were plentiful. However, any hint of medicinal herbs or sources of clean water remained elusive. Leon's exploration covered only a fraction of the island, making the likelihood of finding potable water quite low.
"Damn it… give me a break, at least allow me some breathing room."
Leon understood that coconut water could stave off thirst, but he doubted its long-term efficacy as a sole source of hydration.

At the very least, Leon's skills were advancing, and his unallocated status points were accumulating. These would be crucial for his survival until rescue. However, as Leon contemplated this:
"Will I ever be found? Will anyone search for me? No… don't dwell on it. One problem at a time."
Giving up on the search for medicinal herbs, Leon recognized his inability to distinguish them from ordinary flora. Pursuing this path risked self-poisoning, necessitating a different approach.
"Let's see… I need to mend my knees without surgery or conventional medical intervention, given my near-total lack of expertise in bone setting. In this situation, only one course of action remains… brute force and sheer endurance of pain."
Leon was certain that his status and skills would be instrumental in his future, yet they could not single-handedly resolve every predicament. Nevertheless, this was his only viable option for healing his knees.
"Since when did I become such a brute?"
Leon mused this as he removed his shirt, tearing it into strips. He returned to the ocean to cleanse them, these makeshift bandages being the only available resource.

While Leon awaited the drying of his improvised bandages, he observed the island's significant warmth, so much so that it led to the acquisition of a new skill. It seemed many actions could translate into skills, prompting Leon to test this hypothesis. He picked up a shell and tossed it back into the sea.

This was another active skill, making it clear to Leon that active skills required direct action, whereas passive skills operated independently of his conscious will.
"Let's see… what else can I do to acquire more skills? I'll need some free status points if I intend to withstand the pain."
Scanning his surroundings, Leon selected another shell and hurled it towards a distant tree. His initial attempt missed without effect, but a second throw struck its mark, triggering another notification.

Leon surveyed the area once more but found nothing else he could utilize. He let out an exasperated sigh, feeling he had overestimated his own ingenuity.
"I suppose studying abroad didn't sharpen my wit… just broadened my knowledge."
To endure the ordeal ahead, Leon allocated all eight of his available status points to Endurance. While allocating points to Mentality might offer some benefit, he prioritized minimizing the pain. His primary objective was to reset his knees, which required repositioning the bones for the healing process to commence effectively.
Taking several deep breaths to steady his nerves, Leon prepared to directly manipulate a severely injured part of his body, anticipating an even more intense level of pain. He meticulously wrapped his right knee with the makeshift bandages. Then, in a single, decisive motion, he forcefully realigned the fractured bones into their correct positions using the bandages.
The agony caused Leon's entire body to convulse. The pain threatened to overwhelm his nervous system, and the accompanying shivers sent a chill through his core. Blood splattered across him, and the gruesome sound of torn flesh was revolting. Despite this, he bore the excruciating pain for several agonizing seconds, finally securing the bandages and stabilizing his knee. Upon completion, he collapsed backward onto the hot sand.
Despite the tropical climate, Leon shivered as if stranded at the South Pole, a cold sweat plastering his body. Yet, he managed to retain consciousness until the very end.

"I suppose this skill truly lessened the pain I should have felt from such a reckless act… Ugh."With each surge of his pulse, a throb echoed from Leon's right knee. Oddly, the agony wasn't as severe as it should have been, a convenient turn of events he wouldn't question. Leon inspected his damaged limb; minor bleeding notwithstanding, all seemed to be in its correct position. Within ten minutes, a resurgence of vitality coursed through him, and thankfully, Leon reassumed command of his right leg. Not entirely mended, but his efforts appeared successful. Though his initial attempt culminated in success, a moment of hesitation washed over Leon. The torment was simply too extreme, and even with the bolstering effect of his pain resistance skill, he found himself attempting to postpone the unavoidable. Ultimately, with a grimace, he steeled himself against the pain once more, succumbing to unconsciousness.
