Guang argued that he should participate in the ambush on Lawrence's base, despite concerns for his safety due to his impending fatherhood. The team eventually relented, and they initiated the attack. Guang noticed something was amiss when he found the ground floor heavily guarded, suspecting Lawrence was present. A sudden gunshot disrupted their plan, causing chaos as the team fought to secure the area.

Taking cover, everyone assumed a defensive position as instructed. A portion of the group engaged in suppressing fire with the door guards, while the others scanned their surroundings, diligently searching for hidden enemies.

"They're on the first floor," Ashton relayed through their comms device.

"I'll take a squad and deal with them. You all remain here," Huang stated, leading his team towards the staircase.

As the guards clustered near the entrance began to advance, Zian murmured, "Something's not right."

"Lawrence, he's escaping!" Ashton exclaimed in panic, spotting him limping towards the woods through a window.

Moving to cover, Zian approached Zixin. "You need to go after him. Take some guards with you."

Without delay, Zixin departed with the guards.

...

Outside.

Clutching a firearm, Lawrence limped away as quickly as his condition allowed. By the time he grasped that his stronghold was under siege, it was far too late for any effective counteraction. His contingent was severely depleted, incapable of repelling the assault. Thus, the most prudent course of action was to flee and preserve his life, a decision he swiftly executed.

"Stop right there, Lawrence!" Zixin's voice boomed. "Stop, or I'll shoot."

Despite the stern warning, Lawrence continued his retreat. He recognized the voice – how could he not know his own nephew's?

"I'm giving you one last chance. Stop." When the third warning was ignored, Zixin fired, hitting Lawrence's left leg.

Collapsing to the ground with a groan of agony, Lawrence released his weapon. He clasped his wounded leg with both hands, his teeth clenched tightly.

Glaring at Zixin with bloodshot eyes, he bellowed, "You're just like your father, but far more cunning. Just like him, you want to get rid of me, but I won't let that happen. I'll never give anyone the satisfaction of eliminating me. NEVER."

Before Zixin could utter a word, Lawrence retrieved his gun and fired, striking Zixin directly. The bullet tore through his skull, instantly ending his life.

"Singtan, won't you sit down for a moment?" Ming inquired, a frown on her face.

"Seriously, Dad, you need to relax. Sister Yumi said she'd be here very soon," Qiang added.

"She said that half an hour ago. Why aren't they here yet?" Li Singtan knitted his brows. "They live in the same neighborhood; how long can it possibly take to get here?"

Shaking her head in resignation, Ming sighed. "I can't—" Rising from her seat, she remarked, "You're becoming more and more unbelievable as you get older, Li Singtan. I don't know what to do with you." Without waiting for a response, she walked away.

"Babe, did you just call me old?" He hurried after her, complaining, "How could you say that?"

"Where are you two going? Sister Yumi will be here any minute now." Watching Singtan and Ming depart, Qiang chuckled, "I don't know what to do with my parents."

"Well, you should be glad they're still the same and nothing has changed between them, even after being married for so many years." Guang wrapped an arm around her shoulders, smiling. "I want our relationship to remain this way, even after thirty or fifty years."

Leaning against his shoulder, Qiang smiled. "Yes, but I'm not sure what will happen after—" she paused, caressing her stomach with a chuckle, "After these two join us."

"The other day, Dad was telling me how much things change once the baby arrives. And we're talking about two babies here, not just one," he sighed.

"Sleepless nights, feeding schedules, constant diaper changes, and—"

Cutting her off, Ben added, "Running to the doctor all the time."

Looking at Ben, Qiang remarked, "You're here; I didn't even notice."

"I just stepped out of the room after coaxing him to sleep." Slumping onto the couch, Ben sighed. "It's so difficult to handle him without Clara."

"So, you're on daddy duty today."

"Where did Sister Clara go?" Guang inquired.

"She's out with Sister Mian; they had to pick up a few things for Jeremy," Qiang replied.

Jeremy was Ben and Clara's son, born a couple of months prior.

"So, you're exhausted from looking after him all by yourself?" Guang chuckled.

Frowning, Ben retorted, "Hey, don't laugh! Don't forget you're having two yourself."

Nodding, Guang agreed, "Yeah, I know that."

Looking at Qiang, Ben asked, "When is your due date?"

"Two weeks from now."

"That's not far off. You should start making all your preparations," Ben advised.

Just then, Yumi and Zixin arrived.

"There you are. Your father has been anxiously awaiting your return," Qiang sighed.

"I will go and call them," Guang stated.

After Guang departed, Yumi inquired, "Where are the others? Zian, Yushen, Mian, Brother Sam, and Sister Clara?"

"Clara and Mian are currently out, but they should be back shortly," Ben replied.

"And where is our champion, Jeremy?" Zixin asked.

"He's napping inside, and I don't wish to disturb him until Clara arrives. He tends to cry when he can't see her, making things quite difficult," Ben let out a sigh.

A few minutes later, Ming and Singtan made their entrance.

"I don't want to hear any excuses," Ming remarked.
