Pulos reveals that Lawrence took him in when he was young and that he helped Lawrence only out of gratitude. He explains that Lawrence's plans escalated, and he intervened when he learned Lawrence was targeting Andrew. To warn Andrew, Pulos attempted to deliver a coded message but was attacked by Lawrence. Andrew assures Pulos he doesn't hate him and acknowledges their debt is settled, but Pulos warns Andrew remains in danger. Meanwhile, Guang argues with others about being confined.

"Listen—"

Interrupting Ashton, he demanded, "No, I want to know why I am being treated this way and why did you all make such a big decision without my consent? I need a proper explanation."

Having obtained the address of the place Lawrence had been concealing himself for months and meticulously executing his plans, Zixin resolved to ambush the location, intending to eliminate the entire base once and for all and avoid letting Lawrence escape as he had previously.

In support of Zixin's decision, everyone agreed to assist in the ambush by accompanying him on this crucial task, with the sole exception of Guang, who was excused from participating in such dangerous endeavors.

Upon being told to stand down, Guang felt cornered and began to protest, insisting that everyone provide a valid reason for his exclusion. For years, they had operated as a cohesive unit, with Guang playing a pivotal role. Now, being sidelined hurt his feelings deeply.

"You are going to become a father soon, Qiang needs you—"

Cutting Yinhai short, Guang scoffed mockingly, "So that's the reason? Are you all genuinely planning to push me out for this?"

Taking a deep, calming breath, he explained, "I cherish my wife, my children, and my family, but that doesn't mean I'll abandon a mission I've been committed to and trained for years. Besides, am I the only one with a family here?"

Glancing at Zian, Zixin, and Andrew, Guang remarked, "Don't you all have families?"

"And you," he added, pointing at Ashton and Yinhai, "both of you have girlfriends, and—" gesturing towards Huang, he frowned, "You're dating my sister."

"You see, everyone has a family and people they hold dear, yet we all choose to take risks because we are a team. We are acutely aware that our strength lies in our unity. I don't know what the outcome of the ambush will be, but I refuse to remain behind, worrying about my fate and what might befall my family if something were to happen to me," Guang declared.

Groaning in frustration, Ashton cursed, "Damn it, Guang, you shouldn't have said that."

After a moment of contemplation, Andrew commented, "I believe Guang has a point; we should prevent him from participating."

"Indeed, he is an integral part of the team, and we need him," Huang chimed in.

Pinching the bridge of his nose, Zian sighed, "Fine."

"Excellent! I'll commence with the planning and team assembly," Guang announced.

.....

Four days later.

Qiang's room.

"Aren't you coming back tonight?"

"I will return, but it might be quite late, so you must be a good girl and go to sleep on time, alright?" When she remained silent, Guang sighed. Sitting beside her, he added, "I promise this is the last night I won't be by your side; it will never happen again in the future."

Wrapping her arms around his waist, she rested her chin on his shoulder. "Can't you just not go? Can't you stay with me?"

Furrowing his brows, he gently caressed her back. "Babe, what happened? Are you alright?"

Slowly pulling away, she hesitantly confessed, "Today, I—I overheard Dad and Brother Zian discussing things in the study room."

"Come here," he sighed, drawing her into his arms. Kissing the top of her head, he murmured, "Don't fret about it; everything will be fine."

"You'll be safe, won't you?" When Guang nodded, she added, "I don't want you to get hurt."

"Nothing will happen to me, don't worry." Cupping her face, he reassured her. "And I won't be alone; Brother Zian, Zixin, Huang, and Andrew will be there. Ash and Yinhai are joining us too."

Kissing her forehead, he added, "Try not to stress yourself out." Pulling up the covers, he smiled, "Come, let's cuddle until you drift off to sleep."

"Aren't you going to be late?"

"Not at all; I won't leave until I've ensured my lovely wife is comfortable."

.....

1:00 am

A minivan idled not too far from the mansion.

"Alright everyone, we proceed as planned, but prioritize your safety and strive to avoid injuries. If the situation becomes too difficult, we will evacuate immediately," Zixin instructed.

"Gaining entry through the front shouldn't be an issue, as the guards there are already with us," Guang stated.

"Okay, let's move. Those entering from the rear, proceed first."

The hushed stillness of the night was suddenly broken by the sound of numerous footsteps, all advancing towards their ultimate objective.

...

"According to Pulos's intel, Lawrence should be on the third floor," Andrew informed them.

"Then I will head directly to the third floor with a contingent of guards. You all handle the rest of them."

...

Back door.

The moment the squad breached the building through the rear entrance, Guang signaled his men to retreat momentarily, seeking cover behind a thick pillar. He activated his earpiece, maintaining communication with the other squad, and stated, "Something feels off." "What is it?" Zian, a member of the other squad, responded. "The ground floor room is heavily fortified with guards. I suspect Lawrence is inside." "Understood. Direct your team to disperse and secure the area. We're moving in." Complying with Zian's order, Guang signaled the guards to commence the operation. They advanced stealthily, neutralizing each guard simultaneously and carefully, ensuring Lawrence remained unaware until they had secured over eighty percent of the premises. Abruptly, a gunshot shattered the tense silence, alerting all present guards. This unexpected event plunged the entire location into chaos, derailing their meticulously crafted plan. Fortunately, they had already gained control of approximately sixty-five percent of the area. Only a handful of guards remained near the targeted room's door, while others fired blindly from concealed positions. "Everyone, take cover." ...
