The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL] Chapter 1268: The Open Faucet
Previously on The Royal Military Academy's Impostor Owns a Dungeon [BL]...
See, just as they’d feared, the effect of Luca emulating Ollie’s still-mysterious bloodline ability had increased its raw potency by several times over!
And while the golden-eyed tester had managed to mitigate some of the damage by isolating as much of the discharge to a single spot as possible, it had proven rather difficult to simply make it
Luca remembered telling D-29 to inform everyone that, sure enough, this was different from the usual.
The ability stayed active the entire time.
Just like an open faucet.
Unfortunately, in this particular case, the open faucet seemed a tad bit too angry and easily excitable. Every time the dungeon owner tried to shift things around even slightly, something would inevitably get hit, and they’d end up with yet another massive flare.
Not to mention, the energy seemed naturally inclined to seep out unless every possible path was fully restricted.
But how could anyone possibly keep every single one of those pathways blocked every waking moment?
Wouldn’t that be far too tiring and inefficient?
The young Guide couldn’t help but think that they’d really encountered something tricky this time around.
Meanwhile, unbeknownst to the dungeon owner, his father had actually needed some sort of ventilator at that moment.
Because while Duke Leander knew in his heart that his precious kid was immune to fire, it really didn’t look all that great when, after Ollie had been weaseled away to safety by Luca’s own spiritual tendrils, the sheer intensity of the high-voltage arcs and subsequent flares only
Xavier had been in a similar state, forced to stand ramrod straight in sheer anxiety.
He couldn’t even rush over to help!
After all, getting himself fried and potentially taking down his own little wife with him probably wouldn’t help matters, especially when Xavier wasn’t immune, much less resistant, to either fire or electricity.
"..."
Ollie listened to Luca’s story while simultaneously watching the visual aids provided by D-29, who had apparently kept a full stock of footage from everything that had happened.
And the blonde’s eyes just kept widening and widening!
Because really, if his brother were the one telling the story, it sounded as if they’d simply gone to the lab, tested a little bit of this and a little bit of that, and then...
When in reality, the footage was showing a full-on...
"..."
And while Ollie sure liked explosions, and maybe this was simply cosmic karma for having such colorful hobbies and interests, he was definitely the type to prefer being the actual spark!
That was why buttons existed in the first place!
But what could he do?!
He was already like this!
Then again, maybe he really shouldn’t have asked for more details.
Because when they finally got to the part about how Luca had managed to tame the ability in the end, the poor mop with unfortunately working ears actually heard his usually innocent brother chirpily say,
"Good thing you asked, Brother! It’s easy once you learn it! It just took a lot of testing to figure out, so we spent some time over there!"
"!"
The blonde couldn’t help but lean in a little, looking as if he were about to hear some sort of top-secret revelation that would finally solve all his problems.
Only for Luca to suddenly declare,
"You just have to make closed circuits!"
"..."
Ollie blinked.
"What...?"
Again.
Maybe he really shouldn’t have asked.
Because since when was marking out a spiritual pathway and effectively turning it into a closed circuit an thing to do for virtually any other person besides Luca Kyros?!
__
At least at that point, the marginally taller blonde felt a little vindicated when even his own mother looked completely puzzled by Luca’s explanation.
Like this, it didn’t feel as if Ollie was the only incompetent one when clearly the method was simply far beyond his pay grade!
Maybe he should just go and make another mecha.
At least made a little bit more sense.
But then Luca, who’d brought them back to the same clearing while casually saying they could just rehabilitate it a bit after this, showed him the benefits of actually being able to control the same ability...
And the mop’s eyes nearly popped right out of his head!
Ollie watched from nearby, wearing a protective suit similar to the one Luca had worn earlier. Everyone had insisted on the added precaution to reduce the chances of the brothers accidentally creating another positive feedback loop, even though Luca already had a far greater handle over the emulated ability.
Meanwhile, Luca stood casually in the middle of the scorched clearing.
With one calm, fluid motion, he raised his right hand and gave it a gentle wave.
A blinding arc of high-voltage electricity suddenly materialized out of thin air!
Then, right before Ollie’s widening eyes, Luca reached out and casually grasped the wild bolt in his palm, wielding it effortlessly like a shimmering, white-hot whip.
The air hissed and hummed with raw energy as Luca snapped his wrist.
He flicked the crackling whip through the air with mind-boggling precision, striking a jagged boulder several meters away.
The rock exploded into tiny, pulverized bits upon contact!
But unlike Ollie’s wild, chaotic discharges, there were no stray sparks or runaway fires.
Luca had total, absolute control.
Then, as if that somehow wasn’t enough to completely destroy whatever remained of the blonde’s earlier reluctance, his inconceivable brother raised his left hand and summoned a second bolt, grasping it just as easily.
Now standing there with two crackling whips of pure electrical power in his hands, he looked like some sort of god of thunder incarnate!
"..."
Underneath his bulky protective helmet, the mop was utterly gawking!
Especially because Luca didn’t even look all puffy like him!
Ollie’s brain immediately recalibrated his memories of D-29’s footage, where his own hair had looked like it had experienced some sort of personal tragic disaster.
Then he looked at his genius of a brother again.
Was he...
Was he going to look cool if he could do the same thing?!
Crazy!
So maybe...
Just
He got a little bit interested.
And he became even interested when his good brother finally turned toward him, the electrical whips dissolving into fine golden sparks as Luca chirped,
"I think this ability is super cool! I mean, imagine if you could make something like literal chain lightning! And with enough control, you could even use it to supplement water-type abilities. That would basically turn it into an area-of-effect attack that’s twice as potent, right?!"
The ex-Tesserian wasn’t entirely sure if he’d managed to explain it properly, but he distinctly remembered seeing Espers showcase similar strategies in those televised segments. Many of them had even formed teams based on how well their abilities could complement one another.
Of course, Luca couldn’t be sure whether the people they referred to as bloodline ability users and the awakened Espers of Tesseris were exactly the same. But for now, the latter were still the closest reference he had for what people in this universe might eventually be capable of doing with their own bloodline abilities.
As for the person who currently had the most reason to care about those possibilities...
"!"
Well, things were going swimmingly.
In fact, it was almost as if Luca had just uttered some sort of magical spell.
Because the moment Ollie heard what his newly awakened ability might eventually be capable of, the blonde suddenly started listening well, his mind already racing through all the tactical possibilities!
Maybe a little well.
Because Ollie almost missed it when Luca casually added that all they really needed to do now was head right back into the simulation so he could practice and get a better feel for the spiritual pathways that fired whenever his ability was active.
"..."
Ollie blinked.
"Sorry, what?"
"Hmm?" Luca tilted his head. "I said the best thing to do is to go clear the simulations! Because there, it seems we can train without damaging the actual dungeon space, and we might even gain a few more rewards! Besides, it still says 2 of 3!"
"..."
The blonde was well aware that his saintly brother had already repeated his proposed plan of action twice now.
But really...
Who could possibly blame anyone who cared about self-preservation for being hesitant about visiting that absolute hell again?!
