To understand what was happening, it would probably be best to rewind to just a few moments ago, when the group decided to redeem their vouchers together while one Deputy Officer was busy having his existential crisis, too out of it to even really understand what was going on.
Well, technically, when one blonde suggested doing it together, he’d been under the impression that they would do so everyone had gone and showered to scrub away whatever bad luck they might currently be carrying.
With the scent of his limited-edition bathing essentials, Ollie would likely be able to draw in great luck and maybe even end up with something amazing!
Not really an unrealistic wish, right?
Especially when he was putting in the effort to ensure that he’d be meeting his destined crystal core with his best foot forward!
Unfortunately, Jax suddenly clapped his hands together, grinning widely as he declared that he felt rather lucky at that exact moment. And with the title of freshly imbued upon them, Jax argued that was probably the most opportune time to try their luck!

Safe to say, the easily influenced blonde practically had one ear enlarging in Jax’s direction as his brain frantically attempted to rationalize the honestly unfounded logic of his future in-law!
It didn’t even matter that Kyle, who was standing right next to the suddenly interested mop, was looking at his own childhood friend as if Jax had grown a third head for the day. At that point, Ollie had already managed to make all sorts of wild correlations inside his brain and ended up agreeing completely with the red-headed sage!
So they did just that.
And when Jax actually managed to pull the S-rank core of the Abyssal Kraken, which made its presence known by immediately drenching Jax’s head with a cold stream of water, one particular blonde was obviously convinced that doing the exact same thing as Jax would probably result in a similar success!
Unfortunately, that was apparently debatable.
And the number of times Ollie blew on his hands had absolutely nothing to do with the outcome of the draw!
Because to the sheer shock of the blonde, who’d been all smiles prior to selecting [YES] for redemption, the prompt that appeared before him read:

Because he, who’d really tried his best to be a functioning citizen that day, hadn’t even gotten within one standard deviation of the mean by pulling a B or A-grade core!
Instead, he was out there pulling a rare C-rank, just like his extremely unlucky brother-in-law!
How could that be?!
And it certainly didn’t help that his very own husband had gotten an A-grade core without doing any sort of ritual whatsoever!
But just when the poor mop thought that was the end-all and be-all of his problems, Ollie finally reached out to touch the little thing, only for the core to suddenly discharge a sharp electric charge directly at him!

Ollie really, felt it, letting out a sharp cry that probably would’ve earned him an acting award somewhere else in the universe.
Who knew if he’d actually felt it in his heart as his brain immediately treated the whole thing like a personal attack on his sensibilities, but the blonde sure as hell felt it in his core!
And unbeknownst to him, as his hair antenna shot straight up after violently jerking left and right, his eyes suddenly flashed bright.
A sharp electrical charge erupted from the tips of his fingers, zooming straight toward the now-levitating beast core!

With the sudden smell of something burning and the sharp scent left behind by electricity interacting with the environment filling the air, it was practically impossible for the others not to look over at the blonde, who now appeared extremely determined and intensely focused.
At first, those who’d missed the exact moment it happened weren’t really sure what was going on.
But it didn’t take long before another exchange of zaps crackled violently across the space!
Ollie Mylor threw both hands out, childishly battling the floating crystal core in what had somehow turned into an intense yet inexplicable duel.

Everyone else could only stand by in utter bewilderment, completely unsure of what they were supposed to do about this sudden and chaotic development.
Well, at least until someone finally dared interrupt the vindictive interaction.
Because one golden-eyed cadet suddenly gasped in sheer awe.
"Brother! Goodness! Wow!" Luca exclaimed, his eyes practically sparkling as he stared at the electricity crackling from Ollie’s fingers. "Your bloodline ability! Is it actually Electrokinesis?!"

Everyone immediately turned toward the returning Luca, who had both hands clapped tightly over his mouth in a mix of utter surprise and sheer pride!
He thought that was such a cool power!
His brother had finally discovered his bloodline ability, even if it had happened in probably the most unexpected way possible!
But perhaps the most shocked out of everyone was the blonde himself, who only seemed to come back to his senses then, finally realizing...
Sure enough, what was he even doing?!
Ollie still had both hands thrust out in front of him, his normally in sync hair practically flopping around as crackling static continued building up from his ongoing exchange with the core.
His eyes went wide as saucers.
"What?! My ability—"
Ollie suddenly looked down at his own hands in complete disbelief. Unfortunately, while he might’ve decided to take a momentary pause from his battle with the unruly crystal core, the core clearly didn’t consider that same pause a proper timeout!

"Ow!"
The blonde yelped after getting zapped yet again.
Kyle immediately scrambled to look for something that could possibly withstand all that electricity, while Luca rushed closer and asked frantically, "Does it hurt really bad?!"
The suddenly disgruntled Guide was honestly mortified at the thought of his innate affinity causing pain.
Imagine if his own bloodline ability hurt him as a fire user!
For a brief moment, he even started doubting whether what they were seeing was actually his brother’s newly awakened ability at play!
But after hearing the earnest question and actually taking a moment to reevaluate his own state, Ollie ended up coming to a rather unexpected realization.
Oh, right.
Now that he’d stopped staring at all the sparks flying around him, he realized that he didn’t actually feel much pain at all, save for the fact that his entire body felt far too tingly!
Kyle immediately called out, "Are you sure?"
"YES!" the literally sparking star hollered back, looking like he was dramatically being torn away from a relationship as he clung desperately to the moment because it sure felt that way when he was out there having to deal with something so unreasonable. "But now, how do I stop it?!"
