Ollie attempts to redeem a voucher, hoping for a high-grade crystal core, but pulls a C-rank Spark Rat core instead. Upon touching it, he is shocked, but the shock triggers a latent bloodline ability, Electrokinesis, which causes him to uncontrollably duel the core with electrical surges. While surprised and slightly pained, Ollie realizes his ability doesn't hurt him but struggles to control it.

"Uh... Guys?"

The others who could actually control their respective abilities exchanged quick glances.

Because the simple answer was...

To just stop.

With the more detailed version being something like cutting off the movement of spiritual energy so the ability would also be cut off.

Regrettably, that clearly wasn’t working for the blonde despite his attempts.

Ollie rightfully started to panic, especially after yanking his hands away for good this time, only to realize that it was already too late.

They’d somehow accidentally created a positive feedback loop!

Even after Luca stepped directly in front of the core and followed the Elders’ teachings about showing the beast who was boss, the chaos didn’t actually stop.

Not that the core didn’t want to obey Luca.

If anything, his presence was apparently so terrifying that the little thing started shaking from side to side in pure panic!

But even so, they were having difficulty truly stopping the feedback loop that had already been created given all the restrictions that were starting to crop up.

Off to the side, Killian, who’d apparently found the perfect opportunity to tease the gremlin, casually offered, "At some point, he’s bound to run out of juice, right?"

"!"

The blonde gasped loudly.

"How can you leave a family member like that?!"

Killian simply offered a consoling smile, which was only possible because Ollie already said he wasn’t actually feeling noticeable pain.

"I’ve got a solution, but only if you verbally agree not to take any sort of revenge afterward and consider all the help to be coming from one honest heart."

The mop, desperate and honestly a little too scared for his brain to work properly at that point, practically screeched,

"YES! I’ll even pray for the longevity of your hair if you can really give me a solution!"

Surprisingly, Killian looked over at his younger brother.

Kyle, who’d actually closed his eyes for a moment, already had a hunch about what his older brother was planning and was simply thinking about how to say it.

Because he was pretty sure he’d be hearing endless lamentations if the suggestion actually came from him.

But now that his older brother was apparently feeling a little brotherly for once, Kyle thought he might even offer to babysit his niece later!

Unfortunately, Ollie’s natural tendency to worry when awake eventually got the better of him, and he simply couldn’t take it anymore.

His sparking hand had drifted dangerously close to one of the metal tables, and the moment he saw a charge nearly attempt to jump toward it, the blonde completely panicked.

"Do it! Do it now!" Ollie practically shrieked. "Just revive me if it fails! Revive me, okay?!"

"..."

"..."

Thankfully, the young and apparently promising blonde didn’t end up needing a revive pill.

Though he probably needed a bit of counseling afterward for his wounded heart.

__

To be fair, the Chief of Staff didn’t actually suggest knocking him out.

Which, all things considered, was already a sign that he was truly starting to consider the little gremlin a member of their apparently fast-growing family.

See, the solution Killian came up with wasn’t inherently difficult, violent, or even all that out of this world.

Because sure, they could simply destroy the core and be left with just the mop and his current inability to rein in his ability just yet.

But they didn’t really want to do that, especially when Luca and even the Elders had mentioned that the cores they were receiving as rewards from the E-rank simulation seemed rather unusual. Particularly this one, when even a C-grade beast one was trying to assert its dominance as if it were some kind of SS-grade beast core.

It would definitely be nice to inspect such cores later, especially when they were not only rare but also considered more powerful because of how much of their original will had managed to persist.

The only catch was that it also meant needing to gain the beast’s respect so it would actually be willing to work with its owner.

And while Luca or even Xavier could definitely intimidate the little thing into submission, that wouldn’t really be beneficial to the mop who honestly seemed the most compatible with it.

So there they were, taking the long cut just so the core might eventually be willing to recognize its literally sparkling sparring partner!

The first half of the young official’s allegedly simple plan involved having Oliver Mylor use his authority as a dungeon manager to personally store the beast core inside the dungeon inventory.

All Ollie really needed to do was make sure he could catch it while everyone else moved far enough away so that beings like their father’s water sprite didn’t accidentally end up getting electrocuted in the process!

That part was honestly rather ingenious, and Ollie immediately chastised himself for not remembering it sooner.

But with his entire body sparking all over the place and his hair looking like a blown fuse, how exactly was he supposed to use his already tired brain to think?!

Then again, what he really felt he needed to lodge a formal complaint about was the part of the solution.

Because somehow, someway, Oliver Mylor ended up not only standing far away from everyone else, but also doing so while holding a literal lightning rod.

A lightning rod that was even hooked up to a battery!

"..."

Ollie stared at it.

Then he stared at everyone else.

This!

How could agree to this?!

__

Well, apparently was that anyone.

Ollie really had no choice but to accept such madness when it became blatantly evident that, even without the positive feedback loop from the stubborn crystal core, he was still going strong!

Despite practically acting as a human power grid, he didn’t actually feel like he was using up all that much of his spiritual energy.

In fact, if he didn’t constantly feel like he was about to accidentally zap anyone who dared step even a toe too close, and if absolutely no one mentioned his current gravity-defying hair situation, Ollie would’ve simply thought he was having a day filled with spicy chili peppers.

He tingled all over in a rather bizarre, buzzing way, feeling completely disconnected from the fact that he was apparently a guy going around using a newly awakened bloodline ability willy-nilly!

Unfortunately, his family and friends were quickly starting to realize that they needed a vastly different approach when it came to him.

Sure, throwing up thick spiritual barriers would easily protect everyone else from the rogue arcs of electricity occasionally jumping off the blonde. But those barriers didn’t exactly stop Ollie himself from continuously discharging like some kind of broken conduit!

So, Killian figured a literal grounding wire would simply have to serve as their stopgap solution.

As expected, the blonde mop had a of very loud reservations about the ridiculous setup.

But then the harsh realities of his current condition were ruthlessly laid out before him.

If they couldn’t get this under control, Ollie might not be able to do mundane things like take a relaxing bath with his limited-edition bath salts!

He couldn’t safely touch any shared water sources!

And apparently worst of all...

He might not even be able to touch his own husband, who just so happened to have a strong affinity with water!

"!!!"

Faced with the terrifying reality of his fabulous life slowly falling apart at the seams, the desperately sparking blonde ended up holding onto the metal lightning rod with profound, absolute obedience.

He could do this.

He to do this!

Yet, of all the chaotic things currently happening, perhaps what nearly had Ollie wrapping his entire body around that lightning rod in sheer terror was his good brother suddenly chiming in.

Luca leaned forward, his golden eyes sparkling with pure, helpful innocence as he said something that, for some inexplicable reason, sounded intensely threatening to the blonde.

"Don’t worry, Brother! I’ll try to find a way for you to control it!"

"..."

Ollie’s grip on the lightning rod tightened.

Why did that somehow make him feel even less safe?!
