Curtis wakes up confused, with a jar stuck on his hand, only to learn from Luca and Eden that he is inside Luca's dungeon. Eden explains the peculiar nature of the dungeon, including the presence of high-ranking officials and creatures, as well as a dungeon-linked space with time dilation. They reveal the jar on his hand is a containment device for a runaway monster core, which they had to chase after when Curtis fainted.

Curtis didn’t even want to imagine what he must’ve looked like as all that happened, and he was once again about to say that if someone else needed that particular crystal core, then they could have it.

Especially after hearing that there was actually quite a variation of cores, and out of everyone who’d redeemed their vouchers, they’d only gotten three S-rank ones!

The struggling deputy nearly choked at his own audacity for using the word when even a single S-rank core would’ve given the elites of the Empire something to wage wars over.

But considering how three was apparently still fewer than what D-29 had been hoping for, Curtis couldn’t exactly start screeching about how absurd that sounded, could he?

Yet, with that additional information, he was feeling all the more burdened by the things that kept landing in his lap.

Wouldn’t it be better to maybe save it in case they needed to sell it down the line? Maybe the next generation could benefit from it.

Unfortunately, he didn’t really get the chance to volunteer any of those thoughts, because the Imperial Crown Prince, who was obviously standing right next to the dungeon owner, suddenly spoke up.

"Don’t even think about returning it. Finding the right cores for the right people can be difficult, so the fact that you’ve already got one that fits your fighting style means less work for my wife."

"..."

Xavier looked as imposing as ever while saying it, but Luca’s eyes immediately lit up the moment he heard those words, making the Crown Prince seem far more approachable when his harsh expression instantly softened as Luca turned to look at him.

Eden and Curtis knew they should probably be used to it by now.

But it was really hard not to balk at the guy when it genuinely felt like their Crown Prince had been replaced by some lovesick alien!

Still, the Deputy Officer knew better than to argue, so all he could really say was, "But I might not even be able to use it properly. I’m not exactly S-rank myself, and I might not have enough spiritual energy to draw out its full potential."

It was then that Luca spoke up.

"About that..."

"...?"

Curtis noticed his girlfriend’s back instantly straighten.

"We actually think you’re naturally pretty close to a breakthrough," Luca explained. "So with a little more training and maybe some of the new manuals, we might just be able to get you to break through to S-rank! We’re not sure if we can do it before you need to go after the pirates, but it’d definitely be best if that’s the case..."

Luca looked like he was already deliberating over something else, but Curtis honestly didn’t get to hear much of anything after the part about

Especially with the incredibly casual way Luca had said it, as if he were simply talking about some predictable change in the weather!

"...What?"

"It’s as he says," Xavier added with a completely calm expression. "We’ve since learned that you can cultivate your way up those spiritual ranks you were born with."

"..."

Curtis’s eyes looked like they were ready to fall right out of their sockets.

But hey, just how insane could these people possibly be?!

If they were planning on giving him heart attacks one after another, couldn’t they have just done it all in one go?!

Maybe ripped off the entire bandage and included how they were apparently capable of

Or get this.

Maybe they could’ve led with !

Then perhaps Curtis, and now even Eden, wouldn’t have found themselves trembling where they were while completely weak in the knees!

__

Fearing he might cause the two irreparable damage if they kept going, Luca eventually suggested that perhaps it would be best to give the two military figures a moment to absorb everything they’d just heard.

Thankfully, Marshal Julian decided he’d be the one to fill in the remaining blanks now that he’d finally managed to log all the observations they’d made about the E-rank dungeon.

Yes, the reason he hadn’t been available to handle the debriefing earlier was because he’d been busy dealing with some rather time-sensitive information.

It didn’t matter that it had only been a simulation. The moment the dungeon owner mentioned that he thought he’d seen those same droids back when they were trapped inside D-64, Marshal Julian immediately decided to compile a detailed report while everything was still fresh in their memories.

Sure, he hadn’t personally seen what the droids looked like, but Killian and Jax had through the vision they shared with the bees. And considering neither of them had ever stepped foot inside Dungeon 64, they made for rather reliable witnesses when there was no chance their observations could’ve been influenced by the dungeon they never got to visit.

Besides, dealing with those two was honestly much better than staying in the same room as the group currently experiencing varying states of distress and elation as they basked in the results of their Random Crystal Core Vouchers!

See, while Deputy Officer Curtis had gotten the core of something called a Cloudrunner Qilin that seemed to be all about mobility, there were also plenty of others who were excited to see just what kind of thing they’d managed to pull.

It went without saying that someone who seemed to have been touched by the gods at some point in his existence managed to pull something as crazy as an Abyssal Kraken Crystal Core.

And that core was apparently !

Because according to one Jackson Taylor, he already had all the good ones Luca had given him, so he was really hoping he could get something he could gift to his cherished Honey!

"..."

"!!!"

Now, said almost died the moment those words were uttered.

But Killian couldn’t possibly collapse when his own child was right there, eagerly awaiting his response to getting such a precious S-rank core from her Papa!

Killian, who’d pulled a meager C-rank core with his own rotten luck earlier, could only wish to be struck by lightning as everyone around him looked over with deeply understanding eyes.

Thankfully for him, while he was still trying to process receiving such a precious gift, there was another person holding an S-rank core of her own.

The Cyclone Horn Drake.

That one had actually caused quite a stir earlier when it started creating small tornadoes all around them in a bid to escape from a very startled Ada, who clearly hadn’t expected that she’d be fortunate enough to pull something so crazy good!

Then again, as far as being eye-catching and capable of holding everyone’s interest was concerned, there was one particular core that truly took the cake.

And no, it wasn’t Luca’s.

The dungeon owner hadn’t even found the time to pick out his special rewards yet!

Nor was it something as sensational as Princess Nina’s A-rank Crystal Core, which had practically been showered by the tears of one extremely grateful little child who finally felt like she had something precious she could truly call her own.

No.

Ollie’s core was popular for an entirely different reason.

Because it had done something completely unusual.

For starters, the C-rank Spark Rat Core hadn’t only zapped the blonde out of nowhere.

It had also caused the extremely startled blonde to respond in kind!

And now, one crystal core and one supposed human with a wildly twitching hair antenna were locked in a fierce zapping challenge that absolutely no one dared interrupt...?
