The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1795: Return of the Asura Race (22)
Previously on The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse...
The Paragon is supposed to be hated by all.
During the Primordial Era, the number of people who were kind to him didn’t exceed 20. Many hated him just for being himself; he was the Paragon. That hatred continued in the second incarnation and subsequent incarnations.
So, because of that, he takes care of those who don’t hate him. He holds them close, and so when their lives are threatened, he goes berserk.
Sure, the universe is watching.
He may have even made everyone start to side with him after nine eras.
While that is good and may have given him a reputation he would love to have after being hated for so long, he wouldn’t mind going back to being hated and hunted down by everyone if it meant he could protect his family and loved ones.
Lily was hurt by Drakhar, and that was all it took for Klaus to shed all forms of hesitation he may have developed in this lifetime.
Seeing her arm break and blood gush from her mouth, his brain flipped, and without hesitating even for a second, he issued a command many would have thought long and hard about before giving.
"Are you insane?" Patriarch Tikkun, who now found himself surrounded by eight Pseudo-Primordials, each a menace, questioned, perhaps even starting to regret his decision to go against Klaus in the first place.
They came here today with the mindset that winning against the Paragon, who had yet to recover his true powers, would be easy.
A few years ago, a Heavens Seer came to the six of them and showed them visions of today. In the vision, Asura became a Supreme, and right on cue, he triggered a part of his legacy.
This legacy, according to the Heavens Seer, would open the gateway of evil and unleash calamity on everyone. He even showed them a vision of Klaus devouring his own legion and billions of others.
Since this vision came from the Heavens Seer, they believed him, and so they made up their minds to stop him at all costs.
After all, it was this same Heavens Seer who revealed to them the locations of the Miniature Universes that they used to save their families during the Primordial Era.
They came with the assurance that, with the attack of the chaos beasts, they could take advantage of everything and kill him. Never in their wildest dreams did they expect to find themselves in such huge trouble.
The other patriarchs were not faring any better.
Aetherion found himself facing six of the Death Omens Asmodeus had turned into his undead. Comparing their strength then and now, it was clear Patriarch Aetherion wouldn’t be walking away unscathed.
Patriarch Tarin, with his long Elven ears, had already sustained two deep injuries. He was an archer, and so Klaus paired him against three archers and three assassins.
Two of the assassins were demon puppets, and the three archers were angel puppets. He was unlucky because this combination was just too overwhelming for him to even try to play around.
Now, he was considering running, but how could he do that when the third assassin, one of Asha’s best insect warriors, was just lying in wait to make him regret ever pointing his arrow at the husband of their Queen?
Their men were dying at the hands of Asmodeus’s undead and the chaos beasts pouring out, but there was nothing they could do unless they managed to break free of the bind they had found themselves in.
And to make matters worse, the win they expected wasn’t coming at all.
Nadia and Asha had unleashed their entire legions, so the chaos beasts coming weren’t managing to get close to their target, which was Aster.
Even more chilling, Asmodeus had tapped into his nature as an Undead Sovereign and was now awakening even the chaos beasts dying by the second, making them fight their own comrades.
Even Axarax, who had come to conquer this universe, now found himself wondering just why someone could be this coldhearted.
Klaus didn’t respond to Tikkun, which, to everyone, showed he had made up his mind.
Today, he would annihilate them all, and there was nobody sane enough to dare try to stop him.
"You think just because you have some help, you can succeed in killing me?" Asura, who had been pulled away from his slaughter quest and was now locked in deadly combat with one of Axarax’s bodies, said, landing a kick on Axarax’s face.
The latter laughed and wiped the blood that had appeared at the corner of his lips...
"You always seem to have a solution for everything, Paragon. I mean, back during the Primordial Era, when I tried using the Void Beasts to bring this universe down, you managed to stop me.
It was then that I noticed you were more than what the stories said about you. They said the Lone Wanderer was a man with no home and no lineage. However, when he calls somewhere his home, he kills himself to defend it against all threats.
I never really understood what they meant until I faced you during the Primordial Era. However, it has been a very long time since that battle, Paragon."
Axarax tried to headbutt Asura, but he evaded and landed another blow on his side, sending Axarax flying. Asura followed up by unleashing a sword attack.
However, Axarax was no ordinary warrior. Before he sent a part of his soul into these bodies, he was already at the peak of the True Primordial stage.
That was two realms above the rest of the Primordials Klaus had faced so far. That made him super powerful, perhaps even more powerful than a True Primordial.
So when the attack came, he evaded and even had the audacity to laugh.
"I never underestimated you, Paragon. I would be a fool to underestimate you. So, for me to show my face here today, know that I have what it would take to ensure you die or at least fail to inherit your legacy."
His laughter grew louder and even more annoying.
"So open your eyes and witness how you fail." Axarax pointed up, and the crack widened again. This time, the chaos beasts that started pouring out were all radiating intense killing intent.
Klaus frowned, and he turned pale when a seventh Primordial appeared through the crack and, in less than a second, his claws were inches away from Aster’s neck.
"NOOOOOOOO!"
