The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1718: Family Reunion
Previously on The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse...
"Ythogha, is that really you?" Xexaria, the redhead twin sister, asked, brushing her hand across Pickle Berry’s green hair. Actually, Pickle Berry can change her hair colour at will, but that is a discussion for another day.
Looking tenderly at Pickle Berry, Xexaria asked, her eyelids trembling.
"Yes, big sister. It is me, Ythogha," Pickle Berry answered, tears rolling down her face. She hasn’t changed much from how she looked during the Elemental Era.
While back then, when they knew her, she was talentless and mortal, now that she has become a goddess and commands seven elements, her beauty is naturally several times greater than it was then.
But they could feel it deep in their hearts...
This petite lady hugging them is their long-lost sister, who many claimed had died.
The last to see her was Xexaria. When Pickle Berry left to go find a different way to awaken her elemental afffinity but ended up getting kidnapped, she was the one who came to her rescue.
But she failed, and Pickle Berry was pulled into the spatial rift, ending up in the location where Kaden was breathing his last breath. Pickle Berry had no idea what had happened to her sister, and Xexaria most certainly didn’t know either.
They each wished with every fiber of their being that the other had survived that ordeal.
Now, they had reunited, and the sheer emotions of it all made the triplets behind Kaden hug each other, happy for Pickle Berry.
Suddenly, another void gate exploded open, and this time, three people walked out—two men and a woman. The moment the woman appeared through the void gate, she jumped into Pickle Berry’s arms.
"My baby..." Her tears flowed like a river.
A mother knows her daughter, so she didn’t hesitate. Even if she wasn’t the one who gave birth to this Pickle Berry, she could feel it in her soul. Pickle Berry is her daughter, and nobody can take that from her.
Of course, Pickle Berry also hugged her tightly, showing she also saw her as her mother.
"M-Mother, I missed you so much," Pickle Berry said, her tears wetting her mom’s clothes. She didn’t mind. In fact, she wouldn’t mind if her tears bathed her like rain.
She hadn’t been happy for a very long time. Every time the thought of her daughter, whom they had no idea what had become of, crosses her mind, her mood changes.
These last few years, she had been gloomy almost every single day. Along the way, she even stopped caring about herself and just sat, thinking about the daughter she had failed.
She blamed herself for what had happened. She thought that maybe if she had held Pickle Berry much closer and taken much better care of her, she wouldn’t have left her when she did.
Of course, she had no idea that if not for the way she and the rest of the family cared for her, Pickle Berry wouldn’t have seen herself as a burden and chosen to pursue strength and power so she could support them.
She left because her family was too caring, and she felt like she was a burden they couldn’t keep carrying. If she could also become powerful enough, then maybe she would be able to care for them in return.
But that is all in the past now. They had reunited, and inasmuch as Thokk wanted to hug his sister, he had to wait for their mother to finish—maybe he would have to wait for a bit longer.
As for King Xzeth, he had his eyes on Kaden, completely ignoring Maneli. Not that the latter cared. Being ignored is actually a good sign, though many at his power level would have taken offense to that.
King Xzeth looked closely at Kaden and asked, "Who is my daughter to you?"
His tone wasn’t that deep, but his words carried weight...
Still, Kaden smiled and answered, "She is my everything."
His answer, however, prompted King Xzeth to narrow his eyes. However, before he could make things hard for Kaden, the latter added more context...
"Pickle Berry is both my sister, friend, guardian, and source of power. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t keep her around because of her power. It is the other way around.
When we met, we were both broken, talentless mortals. She was a little green snake, and I was a banished prince with nowhere to call home. We bonded, and through that bond, we both awakened our hidden powers.
For my part, I never knew the world would hold any meaning to me ever again. Pickle Berry changed that. She brought colors to my world again, and in return, I helped her get back what had always been hers.
We lived together for years, and when it came down to it, we both did what we knew would one day bring us back to each other again.
So yes, King Xzeth, your daughter is my everything. It is why we came all the way from the Primus Universe to reunite her with her family. As long as she is happy, I am happy."
His answer left everyone staring at him.
Nova and her sisters knew Pickle Berry meant the world to Klaus, but they never expected her to be this important. From how Kaden sounded, Pickle Berry was the sole reason his 8th incarnation thrived.
That alone was a clear sign of what the two meant to each other.
"You call her Pickle Berry? What kind of name is that?" Thokk, Pickle Berry’s big brother, asked, frowning at how Kaden referred to his baby sister.
Kaden, on the other hand, laughed. "That is my bad, but when we met, she didn’t have a name, and I was terrible at giving names, so I named her after something I love. Pickle Berry was something my mother used to give me whenever I was sad."
"So you named my daughter after a food?" Queen Harxix asked, her cheeks pouting while she still held Pickle Berry in her arms.
Kaden smiled guiltily and answered, "She didn’t hate her name, though... She actually liked it more than I did."
"That is true." Pickle Berry came to Kaden’s rescue before her family could swarm him with questions.
