The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1717: Emotional Reunion
Previously on The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse...
Even from thousands of miles away, perhaps even hundreds of thousands of miles away, Kaden could tell Dunsil City was both majestic and powerful.
Walls stood tall and thick, reinforced with all kinds of defensive runes. They were so strong that even Supreme-level beasts could not leave scratches on them.
Sky-length towers stood, bathed in the holy radiance of protective formations, perhaps meant to defend against winged beasts that would dare attack them. Kaden could even tell that the city itself was a weapon, since everything about it reeked of danger.
But if one looked past the danger, they would see a fortress, thousands of miles wide, filled with all kinds of amazing people. It was a safe space, and from an elevated platform overlooking the city, one could already tell why King Xzeth was called a monster.
Not only had he protected the people within the walls of the city, but he had also made sure that while in there, the last thing one would think of was the dangers of the Elemental Garden.
Guards stood on the walls, ready to attack any invader.
But if that wasn’t alarming enough, just when Kaden and his travelling companions entered within 100,000 km of the city, a formation enveloped them.
Kaden furrowed his brow, and Maneli smiled and said, "Here we go again."
Just as he said that, a void gate exploded open, bathed in lightning.
From within the gate, two people walked out—two beautiful ladies, one with crimson waist-length hair, her body bathed in flames, and the other with blue hair touching only her shoulders, lightning dancing across her skin—each ready for battle.
They were the same height, and given their striking resemblance, one could tell they were twins. Even more chilling was the aura emanating from them and the feeling deep in Kaden’s soul.
They were both Pseudo-Primordials, but they could easily contend with a Primordial if what Kaden sensed from Maneli was to be taken into account here.
He narrowed his eyes and instinctively pulled Pickle Berry behind him.
But he was ignored because their attention was fixed on Maneli... "Ant, what business do you have here, and who gave you the right to invade our city?" the blue-haired lady asked, her beautiful blue eyes narrowing at Maneli.
The latter smirked. "Oh please, spare me the theatrics. We both know I come in peace, so maybe give me the respect and decency of seeing it as such."
The red-haired twin smirked and replied, "That is rich coming from an Overlord of the Ant Desert. The last I checked, you people were at war with the Bleeding Kingdom. Who are we to shelter an insect of your caliber here, knowing there is a high chance the Bleeding Kingdom will take offense and attack us?"
"Wouldn’t that be awesome?" Maneli laughed and added, "By attacking you, they would leave their backs exposed to us. If we then work together, those blood savages will wish they never pointed their weapons at my Ant Desert."
His laughter made Kaden wonder if this was Maneli’s plan all along: to use Dunsil City as a reason for the Bleeding Kingdom to split its forces and attention.
He didn’t care much, though, since Maneli placed the spotlight on him...
"These are my friends. We met on the road and ended up traveling together." He pointed at Kaden. "He is Kaden, fresh blood from the Primus Universe and, as you can see, a demigod who dared traverse the borders of the Ant Desert and Bleeding Kingdom."
And that did the magic. The moment Maneli said that, the twins turned and looked at Kaden, their focus enveloping him whole...
Maneli wasn’t done, though. "Now, I know you two can be arrogant sometimes, so allow me to tell you the kind of little monster he is." He pointed at Blood Savage and said, "That used to be one of the Overlords of the Bleeding Kingdom.
I saw him kill the Blood Hound with my own eyes, with a mere bow and arrow, and turn the 8th strongest Overlord of the Bleeding Kingdom into a puppet. You can ignore my words and try your luck, but since I come in peace, I wish you would take my word for it and treat him with respect.
He is under my protection, after all, and I hate it when my friends are disrespected."
The last sentence wasn’t needed, but it made the ladies even more curious about Kaden.
Suddenly, the redhead beauty asked, flames dancing along her arms... "Are you indeed someone who just arrived from the Primus Universe?"
"Yes," Kaden answered.
"Then tell me, why or how did you know to come here?" If Kaden had indeed just arrived in this place, how did he know to come here? It wasn’t like they had banners announcing to everyone to come here whenever they wanted.
"General Nura gave us the directions to this place since we seek an audience with King Xzeth."
The two ladies furrowed their brows. "Oh, a demigod wishes to meet the king, huh? How cheeky of you, kid. Do you think the king has time for just about anyone?"
Kaden smiled and nodded. "As a matter of fact, yes. You see, he would drop everything, including saving the world, to see his daughter again."
Just as Kaden said that, he pulled Pickle Berry, who was actually pleased to be hiding behind him, considering she had no idea how to face her twin sisters.
"You are..." The moment she appeared from behind Kaden, the blue-haired beauty spoke, her eyes narrowing. For a moment, the air hung tense, the three ladies staring into each other’s eyes.
Then it happened...
The redhead beauty widened her eyes when recognition dawned on her. "Y-You... You are Ythogha."
A teardrop fell from Pickle Berry’s eye as she nodded, doing her best to contain her tears. For a moment, Kaden felt her body grow weak since they were connected. But, giving the back of her head a gentle push, Kaden sent Pickle Berry flying straight into her sister’s arms.
In an instant, emotions were all over the place, a smile playing on Kaden’s face.
