The Last Paragon in the Apocalypse Chapter 1650: Decision

The second General’s question brought silence to the hall.

They had all been pondering whether to make peace with the Paragon, forgetting he was their enemy. While they might choose to make peace with him, he might not want to.

So, whether or not they planned their next move, they first had to know the Paragon’s stance. If not, everything they had discussed would be for nothing.

The person to speak, breaking the silence, was the 24th General. "I think we all heard him say he would be leading the charge against the Foreign Race. This means that, at least for now, he has no plans to deal with us.

So why don’t we plan what we would do next to ensure, at least, we have a much-needed public appearance that would compel the Paragon not to act irrationally? Believe it or not, I also believe he can indeed bring us to our knees.

If that happens, we would lose to the demons, allowing them to accomplish what they have set their sights on for years now. So we should rather focus on our next set of moves to win back our public image." He took a deep breath and added,

"I suggest we focus more on the demons and leave the Foreign Race and Axarax to the Paragon."

"I think that is a sound suggestion, everyone," the First General said, and many, even those who initially hated the idea of making peace with the Paragon, now seemed to like the suggestion made by the 24th General.

They understood that while making peace with the Paragon would be akin to betraying the Heavens, it would save their lives and those of their men.

Taking on the Paragon is akin to taking on an entire army. People are bound to die, and so, now that the Celestial Supreme had become a traitor, they had to think about their lives and those of their warriors.

"I also think the 24th’s suggestion is sound," the Second General said, accepting the suggestion to hold on for now and handle their public image while at the same time working to push back the demons.

"However, we have to at least make contact with the Paragon and make him aware that we have no plans on clashing with him yet, and perhaps never. We would have to have a proper sit-down later to make peace, but we can start from somewhere."

Everyone nodded to the First General’s words.

"Then who should we delegate to handle this?" the Third General asked, his gaze scanning a few people.

"I believe since the 4th General was more enthusiastic about making peace with the Paragon, he should go see him in person," the 6th General, who clearly hated the 4th General, said. "At least, if he walks out of it alive, we will know the Paragon is open for further discussions."

"I second what the 4th General said," the 8th General said, and the rest, who hated the idea of peace but knew it was a necessary step for the bigger picture, supported the idea of sending the 4th General.

"I don’t believe 4th General should be the only one to go," the 5th General said, then added, "I have some history with the Paragon, so I will accompany 4th General. At least, with my Spatial Law affinity, escaping if things go south wouldn’t be too hard."

"Very well," the First General accepted her offer. "The 4th and 5th will go to the Paragon and have a sit-down with him."

"The question here is, where can we locate him?" the 16th General asked, but the 4th General quickly answered, almost as if he had been planning this for a while.

"From a video released recently, it appears he plans on going to Planet Nexarion in a month’s time to see the Genesis Flame Queen. I think that would be the perfect time to meet him."

"That is good then," the First General said, checking the first agenda item off her list before moving to the second item.

"The second thing we have to discuss is how to handle this whole issue with the Celestial Supreme. I know it is hard to say, but the evidence released by the Paragon is concrete.

I personally ran analyses to see if they were fake, but every piece of content released came out as authentic, suggesting he indeed did all the things the Paragon had accused him of.

So the question now is, with the 14 member states taking a step back and the Celestial Supreme nowhere to be found, which side are we on?

Do we continue to serve the Heavens Court, or do we rebrand and give ourselves a new name? I honestly don’t care which name we bear, as long as we continue to serve the people like we swore to do.

However, this is an issue of integrity, and right now, because of the Celestial Supreme, we are at our lowest. Aside from that, the Heaven Executioners, the Three Heaven Guards, and the Black Order are nowhere to be found.

This can only mean they have sided with the Celestial Supreme. So we have to know that whatever decision we make today them would provoke their wrath, or they might choose to ignore us. What should we do?"

At her question, the 18th General spoke, providing a very solid answer. "As far as I am concerned, we shouldn’t be worried about the Heaven Executioners since they wouldn’t dare come against us. We aren’t that weak after all.

As for the Black Order, they may hinder us, but not to the point where we would be in mortal danger. The problem here is the Three Heaven Guards. They are Primordials after all, meaning we are powerless against them.

Angering them would be the end of us. I honestly don’t know how far the Celestial Supreme is willing to go for Axarax, but I know for a fact that as long as we maintain the name Heavens Legion, we will be fine.

So for now, let’s keep the name and focus on building our public image.

If we can prove to everyone where we stand, then even if the Celestial Supreme comes after us, we will have allies join us. I am sure the Warrior Temple and the Mission Hall wouldn’t stand on the side and watch us get annihilated."

Everyone nodded to the 18th General’s suggestion.

It made perfect sense to them since the last thing they wanted was to fight wars on different fronts.

"Then the last item before we close: when the day comes and we have to fight the Celestial Supreme or stand aside, which decision would we make, or should we make?"

This question made many take deep breaths, unsure of how to handle it. The implications involved were dire. After all, they had pledged to the Celestial Supreme to defend and never turn against the Heavens.

The Heavens, in this case, were the Celestial Supreme, so traitor or not, he had the blessing of the Heavens. Going against him was akin to going against the Heavens, which, as far as they were concerned, would attract heavenly punishment.

It wouldn’t benefit them in any way, so they had to know which decision they would make before the time came.

"This is a heavy one," the Third General said, and many nodded.

"Letting him be would reflect badly on us, and attacking him would invoke the wrath of the Heavens. Regardless of the decision we make, the price is steep."

"That is true. However, there is a chance we might also not have to worry at all. If anything, we should be prepared for when the Celestial Supreme calls us to come to his aid," the 4th General said, not hiding his anger.

"What are you trying to say, 4th General?" the 6th General asked the question that had surfaced in everyone’s mind.

"The biggest enemy of the Heavens is the Paragon. Aside from that, the most hated person, from the look of things, in the Paragon’s view, is the Celestial Supreme. This means the two are natural enemies and would clash at some point.

When it happens, there is a chance we would be called to defend against the Paragon. Of course, this would be a command from the Heavens, which, if we decline, would invoke the wrath of the Heavens.

However, what happens if we make peace with the Paragon and sign a binding contract with him?"

Many widened their eyes, seeing the loophole they could exploit.

By forming a contract with the Paragon, naturally, they would be compelled not to raise their weapons against him.

So even if the Celestial Supreme asked them to defend him or fight for him, they could reject his call, and the Heavens would have the Paragon to blame since they would have a binding contract.

In other words, they could hide behind the Paragon and still maintain their integrity as warriors. The paragon would take on their punishment, which, as far as they are concerned, would be a breeze for him.

They already knew the dynamics between the paragon and the heavens...

"4th General, have I ever told you I like how your brain works?" the First General said, a smile forming on her face.
