Her question caused many to turn and look at each other.
As she said, they had all seen what Klaus had revealed about the Celestial Supreme and Axarax.
So, as people who had sworn their loyalty to the organization that was currently the most hated in the universe, they realized the threat Klaus posed and had to address it.
"To be frank with you, I don’t see any reason to even talk about him," the 4th General spoke, keeping a calm expression. "The Paragon clearly came after the Celestial Supreme and the mysterious Axarax, not the Heavens Legion. So what’s even there to talk about?"
Many nodded to his bold words, while some frowned.
"What are you trying to say here, 4th General?" the 8th General asked, his expression dark. "Are you trying to say the Paragon is no longer a threat?"
The 4th General scoffed. "He stopped being someone we can handle when he single-handedly infiltrated the Heavens Court and revealed such a dark secret none of us had any idea was there.
Be honest with yourselves. Who among you suspected the Celestial Supreme had such a dark secret?"
Every General became quiet upon hearing the 4th General’s question.
"You see, he is someone in a league of his own. He made it seem so simple that even I was fooled into believing he wasn’t the Paragon. My point here is, if he wanted us gone, he would have made a move a long time ago."
He took a deep breath and added, "I led the charge against him and his allies during the Era of Death. I personally delivered a fatal wound and watched him take his last breath.
Despite our win, thousands of warriors died that day. What did he do the next time he reincarnated? He never came for revenge.
Rather, he continued to build his strength, and despite us trying at every turn to get under his skin, he ignored us. What does that tell you?"
Yet again, everyone was quiet, which told the 4th General he was making headway.
"Shit, he had the chance to kill me once but chose to spare me. Why? Because back then, I was leading a charge against the demons. If he had killed me, my legion would have been thrown into chaos, and thousands of righteous faction planets would have paid the price.
So, from how I see it, he only seems to care about the Celestial Supreme and Axarax, not us. Of course, there is still a chance he is saving us for last, but we wouldn’t know until we meet him and clear the air."
Many nodded, but the 8th General questioned, "So are you insinuating we contact the one person we have, for the past eras, been told was bad news and make peace with him?"
The 4th General smiled. "You have never fought the Paragon before, so you might not take him seriously. But I faced him, and despite being only a Demigod, he fought multiple Celestials and killed every last one of them.
I saw with my own eyes what he is capable of, so while we may succeed in killing him, I assure you, out of the 24 of us, less than a dozen would make it out alive.
And well, I cherish my life and that of my legion, so if I can make peace with him, I would. The demons and the Foreign Race are still a threat to our people, and inasmuch as I would love to justify our claims, I don’t see the Paragon killing the innocent yet."
"I always knew you were a coward, 4th General," the 6th General said, looking darkly at the 4th General, who had a frown on his face.
"You want us to make peace with the Paragon, someone who stood against the Heavens Court and the Heavens themselves. Is this what you signed up for when you swore to abide by the rules and beliefs of the Heavens Court?"
"I also never swore to support a leader who colluded with someone hell-bent on bringing this universe to its knees," the 4th General fired back, and the 6th General narrowed his eyes
For a moment, the air in the hall tensed. However, one voice calmed everyone down.
"Relax, everyone. This is an open discussion, so everyone is allowed to share their opinion."
The 1st General said, causing the 6th General to scoff at the 4th General, who smirked back.
"I think the 4th General has a point here. We clearly cannot fight the Paragon, who can be in multiple places at the same time. I don’t know about you, but the last thing I want is for my favorite chef to turn out to be the Paragon in disguise, coming after me because I chose to fight him."
She laughed, and everyone laughed with her.
"Right now, we need peace to be able to do what we have promised to do, which is to protect the Righteous Faction from dangers in the universe and beyond it.
So if making peace with the Paragon can buy us that freedom to handle our missions more effectively, I wouldn’t mind going into such a compromise."
"Same here," the 12th General said, and the 23rd and 16th Generals nodded as well.
"Peace is a relative term, you all," the 5th General said, a smile forming on her face. "I lived during the Primordial Era and personally knew the first Paragon and his friends."
Many nodded, knowing the 5th General was an old-timer.
"Back then, I never really paid much attention to him. After all, he was stuck at the Demigod Stage while the rest of his friends kept climbing. However, when danger arose and war broke out, he proved to everyone the kind of monster he was.
He used to say that if he wanted, he would make sure nobody else ever raised their weapons again. After all, he alone would be more than enough to stop all forms of threats."
She smiled again, recalling the good old days.
"Do you guys know just how dangerous Void Beasts are? Let me tell you, just one can decimate an entire planetary system. Yet a lone Demigod killed hundreds of thousands of them.
I am saying this not because I look down on the Heavens Legion. In fact, I am proud of what we have. However, if we can avoid a direct confrontation with the Paragon, I would be very happy.
The 4th General stated that if we all went against him, less than a dozen would return. However, he may have sugarcoated it. From what I have seen, if he wanted us gone, he could do it with a single snap of his fingers."
She mimicked the snapping of her fingers.
"Just like us, he has friends and a legion of dangerous warriors. Or are you guys saying you haven’t witnessed what he did to the 25th Heaven Army?"
At the mention of the 25th Heaven Army, everyone took a deep breath, their minds coming to a sudden realization. What the 4th General had suggested might very well be their only option.
"I think we are all ignoring the obvious question," the 2nd General chimed in, his voice calm. "Would the Paragon even consider making peace with an organization that had, on multiple occasions, gone against him, taking his loved ones from him?"
