The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 2054: Unstoppable Animal
Previously on The Invincible Full-Moon System...
Growl—!
A growl that came from the throat escaped Rex’s lips, carrying a vibration of pure animal rage.
He rolled across the ground, wrestling and clawing at High Millinar Vlaos—who had tackled him from the side as he was about to land another nasty blow on High Millinar Julas. Both tumbled hard through the ground.
Rex avoided a punch; the ground behind him cracked, and the two were thrown high.
Finding the opportunity, he sank his canines into High Millinar Vlaos’ wrist.
"Rargghk!" High Millinar Vlaos grunted in pain, hissing at the sight of the fangs rending his flesh.
And then, Rex pulled to worsen the damage, tilted his body sideways, and then drove both feet hard into High Millinar Vlaos’ stomach. The High Millinar was flung away like a ragdoll—tumbling back to the red shore.
Rex clawed the ground to stop his momentum.
His claws carved deep furrows across the ground, and he charged again.
Straight at High Millinar Julas.
His bloodthirsty crimson eyes were locked on the wounded High Millinar, who was still healing—from the earlier assault. Just earlier, Rex smelled a faint but unmistakable scent. Davina’s blood that somehow clung to High Millinar Julas’ body.
It was clear that he had hurt Davina. He had aimed for her.
And Rex was going to make him pay for that transgression with a world of pain.
’Shit!’ High Millinar Vlaos caught himself with a barrier of water and saw Rex was charging straight at High Millinar Julas again. ’That girl must be someone really close to her. For him to ignore me entirely and focus solely on Julas is insane. Did he really think I can’t damage him?!’
Rex would stop at nothing to kill High Millinar Julas first.
Naturally, High Millinar Vlaos couldn’t let that happen.
He reached his hand to the side and pulled water from the dark ocean.
Listening to the Law of Ocean Water, the dark ocean responded instantly, sending a stream of water that slid under Rex’s path. And when it was right below Rex, it burst upward into sharp coral reefs. Jagged spears of bone-white stone stabbed him from below, puncturing through flesh.
But Rex’s skin was tough, and the impact lifted him up rather than impaling him.
Regardless, it also couldn’t hold Rex for long.
Crash—!
He shattered them with a single swipe of his arm, exploding the coral into fragments.
It didn’t stop him.
Heck, it barely slowed him down as the wounds already recovered.
But it bought High Millinar Vlaos enough time.
He managed to catch up to Rex, two daggers attached to chains already in his hands. With a raw grunt, he plunged them into Rex’s back, making sure they stabbed as deep as they could. They stopped at five inches deep.
Stabbed through muscle and sinew.
Just that alone should be more than enough to hurt any living creature, even Demigods.
But Rex didn’t flinch. Didn’t slow down at all. Didn’t even acknowledge the steel buried in his flesh.
Only the highest form of pain could hurt him, and this was nothing more than a pinch for him.
In fact, the pain only served to make his body grow even stronger, but still, his focus remained fixed on High Millinar Julas—on the wounded, healing, puny High Millinar who had dared to touch Davina. Rex can see it.
He can see the time of death ticking down above High Millinar Julas’ head.
And he laughed maniacally.
Swoosh—!
’His body is too strong! I’ve never met anyone with a body as strong as his!’ High Millinar Vlaos kept trying to stop Rex from moving forward—the chains dragged behind him as Rex galloped on all fours. His body was low, and he slowed down by much, but he was still clawing forward. ’I don’t think even High Millinar Alexander’s body was as strong as his!’
Not going to give up, High Millinar Vlaos wrapped the chains around his arm.
He planted his feet to the ground and pulled with everything he had.
His muscles strained. His teeth ground together. But the ground was slippery, slick with water and blood, and Rex was also much stronger than him. So much stronger. High Millinar Vlaos was dragged forward; his boots skidded across the ground.
’Just a little bit more!’ High Millinar Vlaos gritted his teeth and summoned more ocean weapons.
After a soft hum, the chains extended, stretching further back, and split into three paths. Each path was connected to an ocean rapier that materialized using the dark ocean water. He hurled them backward—and they stabbed into the ground deep like anchors.
Clang—!
Rex was stopped dead in his tracks as the chains snapped taut.
But only for a moment.
He moved forward again—the rapiers were dragged across the ground, unable to hold him back.
High Millinar Vlaos tried holding on with white-knuckled desperation, but knew he wouldn’t last long.
On the other hand, High Millinar Julas finally recovered.
"Eugh..." He sat up and held his head that was throbbing from the blood loss. "Did I pass out?"
Just as he said that—his eyes widened when he met with the murderous pair of crimson eyes again. Rex was already a few yards away from him, and his claws were stretched forward, trying to reach the High Millinar who hurt Davina.
Behind, High Millinar Vlaos was holding him back.
But what High Millinar Julas fixated on wasn’t the claws, but Rex’s eyes.
Both were already glowing, striking red like orbs, which somewhat looked like Diamantona’s eyes when his Scion power was activated. He was already told by the others about what happened during the meeting, and got the description.
And these glowing eyes were exactly as the description, but red instead of blue.
"His Scion power is already riled up," He mumbled—and gulped harshly. "We’re not meant to rile him up until this point. We were supposed to be ignoring him until we take out Vadyn and the other girl. But things ended up this way."
Of course, High Millinar Julas blamed his moronic comrades.
Neither should’ve engaged with Rex, and now they were stuck in this situation.
’Angela... Hurry up.’ High Millinar Julas looked up, and then smiled a little to see that the sky was now a bit darker. Clouds already hung over them—blocking both moonlight and starlight. And as he looked at Rex again, he realized that the animal was already weakening. ’Yes... He won’t be as strong now.’
Even now, High Millinar Vlaos finally could stop him from moving forward.
For a moment, relief washed over High Millinar Julas like cool water as he rose to his feet.
In this advantageous situation, their chances of winning against Rex skyrocketed.
But then, the sky exploded.
Boom—!
Five more detonations ripped through the clouds, punching holes in the darkness—and revealed the full might of the glaring full moons and stars beyond again. High Millinar Julas’ heart dropped into the pit of his stomach.
He looked up and saw High Millinar Angela in the sky, roaring in exasperation.
Her hands still reached for the scattered clouds, but it was harder to gather them now.
Due to how powerful and destructive Rex was, he distracted them all enough to forget—that there was still another fighter on the enemy side. Davina was still roaming around freely after Rex forced him to help his comrades.
Now they were stuck.
Stuck fighting Rex, who was already going out of control, with the full moons feeding him strength and his Scion power also activating. ’I’ll need to heal myself completely first for a prolonged fight. We need to find a breakthrough to slip past this bad situation.’
On the other side, Rex felt it too.
He felt the momentary disappearance of the full moons, and it snapped him out of his daze.
Cleared the red haze from his vision.
<Notice: the user has gone through a partial berserk-state, suppressed by the Greater Lycan bloodline.>
Rex wasn’t sure what the System meant, but he knew that he had lost control earlier. He was aiming for High Millinar Julas too much, but it mostly felt like he was watching his body move on its own, exactly like how it felt when he was in a berserk state.
Just minus the fact that in a berserk state, he mainly didn’t remember what he did.
<Notice: the user’s inner pack member, Davina, is being incapacitated by the Law of Coldness and Law of Ice!>
Rex looked up and saw that Davina was still in the sky, battling.
He realized that she was the one who kept the sky open so that they could draw more moonlight and also starlight.
Killing High Millinar Vlaos and Julas would be hard without using Lycanthrope.
Especially High Millinar Julas.
Rex was keeping the Lycanthrope skill for his fight against Diamantona, and perhaps to secure a vital ucky shot using it with the element of surprise, so he didn’t want to use it now. But he also knew that without it, killing these two would be difficult.
Just then, a thought came to mind.
Meanwhile, in the sky, Davina remained completely still as she fired the five shooting stars. She could not move too much—the Law of Coldness and Ice would decimate her if she did. Even now, those two Laws were already crippling her through the holes in her lungs and the pressure on her body.
Every movement cost her.
But she didn’t have a choice.
Swoosh—!
High Millinar Angela came rushing at her, claws extended, and eyes burned with fury.
"You bitch!" She roared.
Davina quickly channeled her moonlight and starlight energy, forming a spectacular sword of silver and emerald before enhancing it—with immortal energy from the divine mark. The blade thrummed with a discharge of power, and she met High Millinar Angela head-on.
They clashed.
BOOM—!
Just the first impact alone sent shockwaves rippling through the sky.
And the second clash followed instantly. Then the third, fourth, and the fifth—five exchanged in rapid succession. Each one detonated with force that shattered the air and sent tremors through the red shore and dark ocean below.
High Millinar Angela’s claws scraped against the sword.
Davina’s blade carved through the space where High Millinar Angela’s head had been.
Neither gave ground.
Both turned into streaks of light and clashed, covering vast distances as they moved through the sky.
Noticing the strain on her body worsening, Davina turned and headed straight toward the red shore.
Seeing this, High Millinar Angela smiled. She could tell what was going on. The Laws were on the very brink of collapsing Davina’s body—the ice, the pressure, and the weight of the freezing air were going to shut her body down.
"Where do you think you’re going?!" High Millinar Angela roared and chased after her.
No matter what, she was adamant about forcing Davina to keep moving, to keep the Laws working.
But after more clashes, after more exchanges, after more blood spilled between them—High Millinar Angela realized something was wrong. ’I can see that her body was collapsing, but every time the Laws were about to finish her, they somehow didn’t. What’s going on?’
Just as she thought of that, the dark ocean from below erupted.
Her eyes snapped downward and saw the massive maw of a humongous twisted wolf head.
It was filled with an incredible amount of energy that she couldn’t mistake for Rex’s.
Only then did she realize that she was already near the red shore—lured by Davina and had entered Rex’s attack range. "Shit!"
