Davina struggled to escape High Millinar Julas' relentless pursuit, her unique abilities allowing her to narrowly avoid his attacks. Despite her efforts and the power of her Soul Artifact, Julas' superior speed and growing frustration became apparent. As Davina unleashed a powerful starlight attack, Julas retaliated by summoning hundreds of sea monsters from the ocean depths, overwhelming her. Amidst the chaos, a swift, intelligent red lightning eel monster pierced through her defenses, inflicting multiple wounds. Just as Julas moved to capture her, a massive water pillar erupted, allowing Davina to escape while Julas was distracted by a commanding voice.

High Millinar Julas wanted to curse out loud.

He had Davina, and yet something disturbed him again when he was about to reach her.

It pushed his frustration to its limit, but the voice that called him sounded urgent and desperate.

Right underneath, High Millinar Vlaos and Angela burst from the ground—scurrying away with clear panic on their faces. He knew that they were battling Rex, and since both of their powers have immense synergy, he thought it would be fine.

But it didn’t seem like that now.

"Julas!" High Millinar Vlaos roared. "Get your ass over here! Stop what you’re fucking doing and close the damn sky!"

"Which one does he want me to fucking do?!" High Millinar Julas clicked his tongue as High Millinar Vlaos gave contradicting requests. Either help them or close the sky, pick one. "From the very start, we are not supposed to be clashing with the dangerous one. Look at them now.’

Diamantona’s had already made it clear to them.

No matter the circumstances, they ought to have completely ignored Rex.

Attacking a Scion of the Anger Stratum—without the intention of killing him for good as the end goal was never a good thing to do. Doing so would only make Rex angrier, and that’ll make him stronger. Instead, they should only attack with one powerful strike that would’ve killed him instantly.

It was the reason why Diamantona told them to ignore Rex and focus on taking out the others.

But these two got their egos bruised and decided to fight Rex head-on.

A dumb idea, and now they were scrambling.

Just then, something clicked inside High Millinar Julas’ mind as he glanced skyward.

’It’s the moon and the stars...’ He thought inwardly, only now realizing that these celestial objects were not only giving Rex power—but they also gave Davina power. Both seemed to have the same source of power. ’I should’ve realized it sooner.’

"Help me hold him back!" High Millinar Vlaos quickly said when he arrived.

"What?" High Millinar Julas growled. "We ignore him; that’s the plan."

"How the fuck are we supposed to ignore him? He’s too fast for us to run away from!"

"Then what? We’re going to fight a losing battle!"

"No," High Millinar Angela intervened. "I’ll close the sky, and you two hold him back. It shouldn’t take too long."

Once the three came to an agreement, they immediately acted.

But at the same time, a blurry shadow shot out from the dark water and headed straight for High Millinar Angela, who was rising skyward. Her intention for going skyward could be smelled from a mile away— and the shadow wasn’t going to let her do what she was trying to do.

Swoosh—!

Rex charged the Brutal Impulse into his claws—the red it created was a spectacular sight.

It was a seething steam that hazed the air.

His tongue lolled from his mouth as his murderous crimson eyes locked onto High Millinar Angela. He knew what she was trying to do. She was trying to shut the sky, trying to blot the full moons—and their glories.

Rex didn’t want her to succeed.

He hated it.

Perhaps it was his animal side talking as the full moons were messing with his mind. He was no longer a werewolf but a Greater Lycan—but the bloodline inherited all the good traits of a werewolf, and that included the anger and the effects of the full moons.

Regardless, he wanted to tear her apart.

For her mockery over his attempt to rescue Edward and for trying to close the sky.

He’ll make sure she paid dearly for them.

But midway, he was intercepted.

High Millinar Vlaos appeared in his path—already channelling his immortal energy. His hands wove a shield of water that materialized from nothing, and they drew in the water from below to make it even stronger than it was.

Before Rex could arrive, High Millinar Julas also arrived.

A tap from his hand layered dark water on top of the shield, thickening it by several inches.

Just from the energy it was radiating, its defense capability was most certainly doubled or even tripled.

Even then, Rex didn’t stop. He laughed maniacally and thrust his claws forward, completing the Brutal Impulse. Ancient writings crawled through the air, burning with crimson light, and then the beam came with a thunderous boom that shook the air around it.

Its force rippled across the surface of the dark ocean below.

And then it seeped through, shattering the water shield into a thousand fragments, revealing the shocked High Millinars behind it. But they were ready—anticipating that Rex might force his way through their two-layered shield.

A torrent of sparkling and dark water burst forth, hurling Rex backward.

He spun through the air, but the golden disc materialized and broke his fall before the dark ocean did.

Rex looked up, fully ready to resume the chase, but stopped suddenly.

He sniffed the air and smelled something familiar.

For a second, he was confused as to where he smelled this scent before.

But he soon realized what it was.

Almost instantly, his blood ran hot—and his vision blurred with red. His already murderous crimson eyes intensified, and they snapped towards High Millinar Julas. Even from a distance, one could already see his body shaking with barely contained fury.

A snarl tore from his throat, sharp canines bared, and every muscle coiled with greater strength.

Every fiber of his being screamed death for High Millinar Julas.

High Millinar Julas—on the other hand, froze. Confusion flickered across his face. "Why is he looking at me like that?" He asked aloud and turned towards High Millinar Vlaos. "I haven’t even clashed with him; you did. So why was he looking at me like he wanted to kill me?"

"I... I don’t—"

Before High Millinar Vlaos could answer, Rex already made his move.

Swish—!

His crimson eyes—flashed blindingly. High Millinar Vlaos raised his arms to block the light, but when he lowered them, he realized High Millinar Julas was stunned. The Weaver of Madness skill infiltrated his mind, flooding it with the strands of madness.

Not new to a mind attack, he resisted the madness.

But stunning him was enough as Rex charged with lightning-fast speed.

Reacting to this, High Millinar Vlaos summoned an ocean sword and made a desperate swing, but Rex parried it, grabbed him by his arm, and seized High Millinar Julas by the neck in the same motion. His claws punched through the skin as he turned and fixated on the red shore.

Fixated on where the two stationary High Millinars were, with Vadyn doing heavy work on them.

And then, Rex spun and hurled them both.

CRASH—!

Vadyn and also the stationary High Millinars paused at the thunderous crash—that happened not too far away from them. High Millinar Vlaos and Julas crashed into the red shore with a detonation that carved two deep pits into the surface.

Gleaming red crystals sparkled beneath the shattered ground.

Before either could recover, Rex was already there.

He plummeted from the sky and crashed directly onto High Millinar Julas’ chest with both feet—driving him deeper into the pit with an ear-deafening crack. Blood burst from High Millinar Julas’ mouth as the impact burned the pain nerves across his torso.

Rex didn’t stop there and mounted him.

And then the merciless slashing began.

Roar—!

A claw to the face carved through slick fish skin—drawing dark blood. Another to the body left bloody wounds across the chest. Rex kept going, tearing meat and shredding flesh mercilessly. His claws moved in a blur of crimson and rage

High Millinar Julas snapped out of his daze from the first slash and thrashed.

He fought back with everything he had, but the barrage of flesh-rending claws was too much.

Just then, a dark water tail erupted from behind and struck Rex in the chest, pushing him away.

It was the chance High Millinar Julas needed to scramble back up to his feet and recover, letting dark water heal his wounds. But not even two seconds later, Rex already tackled him again from behind—with such force that the two shot to the other side of the island.

His hand clamped around the High Millinar’s throat, and his other hand rose high, claws gleaming, and came down again. And again. And again. Blood spread across the ground as he carved into the monster beneath him like a butcher lost in the rhythm of slaughter.

"You think!"

Slash—!

"You can touch!"

Slash—!

"My woman!"

BOOM—!

Rex balled his hand into a fist and swung it at High Millinar Julas, cracking his face and the ground right underneath him. The middle portion of the island collapsed; dark water flooded in—but the island didn’t begin to sink.

Rapidly, the dark water healed High Millinar Julas.

Seeing this, Rex raised his claws again, but High Millinar Vlaos tackled him from the side.

Meanwhile, High Millinar Angela rose skyward.

She glanced back over her shoulder, paranoia gnawing at her spine, certain that Rex was about to appear behind her at any moment. The memory of how he was laughing under the barrage of her cold phantoms like they were nothing lingered in her mind.

In fact, if she survived this Purgation Duel, that memory might haunt her for years and years to come.

But when she looked, there was no sign of him.

He wasn’t anywhere near her.

Her comrades were holding him back—buying her the time she needed. She let out a breath of relief, then steeled herself. ’That Scion is extremely strong—but the full moons are making him far too strong. I’ll have to work quickly.’

High Millinar Angela looked up again.

She watched the sky flashing white and blue several times in random intervals.

Fleeting blinks of light that spanned the entire realm.

Miles and miles away—she could see that the battle between the two High Lords was happening. Even from this distance, their clashes dyed the realm in waves of color, and the immortal energy coming from them carried on the wind and brushed against her skin like the breath of the realm.

She shook her head and focused on the sky.

High Millinar Angela flew higher and higher, ascending toward the low stratosphere, and then inspected the clouds. The only natural barrier against the full moons and stars. The earlier blast from Davina had blown them away, scattering them to the horizon.

She would need to pull them back.

Perhaps even rally—and clump them together until they were thick enough to fully block the moonlight and starlight completely. That was the key to their victory. If she could sever the enemies’ connection to the celestial bodies above, their strength would falter.

Rex drew power from the full moons, while Davina came from both the full moons and the stars.

Cut off their source of power, and they would be far easier to handle.

Nodding her head, High Millinar Angela stretched her hands to the side, and her immortal energy came out like wings—spanning a wide area. She also used the Law of Freezing to push the hollow hailstorm away, clearing the air so it wouldn’t interfere with her work.

Slowly, carefully, she began gathering the clouds, drawing them back from the far reaches of the sky.

And then she pulled them into a single, massive formation that stretched for miles.

Swoosh—!

It took immense effort.

Even doing this required immense immortal energy as the arena was charged with the immortal energies from the clashing High Lords. But for her to be able to do it despite the variables was a testament to her position—to how she was able to become a High Millinar.

Soon, the cloud mass grew thicker and denser.

Just as she was about to finish, sealing the sky under a blanket of grey, she heard whistling.

High Millinar Angela turned. Five shooting stars rose from below, streaking upward like spears of light. They punched through the sky and exploded, blowing fresh holes in the clouds she had painstakingly gathered, scattering the mass she had spent so long assembling.

The moonlight poured through the gaps, unimpeded. The starlight followed.

Her work, undone in an instant.
