Rex, fueled by rage after sensing Davina's blood on High Millinar Julas, fiercely attacks Julas despite interference from High Millinar Vlaos. Vlaos's attempts to stop Rex with water and chains prove futile against Rex's immense strength and rapid regeneration. As Davina struggles against the Laws of Coldness and Ice in the sky, Rex's Scion power activates, and he momentarily loses control. Davina manages to lure High Millinar Angela closer to the shore before their battle intensifies, leaving Angela vulnerable to Rex's attack.

Davina, through dizzying maneuvers, managed to lure High Millinar Angela close enough to Rex.

It was her only choice to stop being chased.

Seeing and hearing her telepathic call for what she was attempting, Rex wasted no time and unleashed the Ravenous Maw of Magna—one of his strongest abilities. A colossal head of a twisted wolf erupted from the shallows near the red shore and climbed skyward.

It unleashed a wave of pressure that stunned High Millinar Angela.

Causing her reaction to lag for a full second.

It might not sound like much, but in a battle like this, a second was the difference between life and death.

High Millinar Angela panicked for a second—and then snapped out of it. She was only shocked by what was coming for her from below. In reality, she had nothing to fear. ’Did he not learn anything about me? I guess an animal would always be an animal.’

As the mouth that was filled with razor-sharp teeth clamped hard, High Millinar Angela smirked.

Her body turned translucent as she shifted into her astral form.

Nothing could touch her in this form—even Rex’s Law of Inevitability couldn’t.

High Millinar Angela waited for the attack to pass, watching the sharp fangs clamp down on her torso, but then her eyes widened when blood sprayed onto her face and drew arcs in the air. And then, a burn spread around her torso before her mind finally registered it.

Excruciating pain.

"KYAARGHK!!"

She shrieked at the top of her lungs, flailing in pain to break free.

One of the sharp fangs surprisingly pierced through her body when the others didn’t.

And no matter how hard she tried to free herself, the only option was to rip her stomach apart—and she wouldn’t be able to do that. Not because she didn’t have the gut to do that, but because the pain was far too much for her to handle.

Every pair of eyes watched High Millinar Angela was pulled down and slammed onto the shallows.

A massive column of water rose and then nothing.

Rex’s lips curled into a devious smile; watching her squeal like a wounded pig was music to his ears.

He might not have any abilities tying him to the Astral Realm. He might not be able to touch her while she was in her astral form. But even then—it wasn’t a problem for him. On top of his monstrous strength and on top of being a Scion, Rex was the wielder of the System.

Someone destined to sit at the Highseat of Invincibility.

For him to bypass this limitation, all he needed was to ask the System to recommend him an item.

And he simply used it.

"What the fuck did you do?!" High Millinar Julas roared in a panic.

"Payback," Rex replied with a maniacal grin. "You hurt one of mine, and I simply hurt one of yours."

Gritting his teeth, High Millinar Julas blasted away to help High Millinar Angela.

"Vlaos, hold him there! I’m going to check on Angela!"

"Are you an idiot?! He’s taunting you! Don’t take the ba—!"

High Millinar Vlaos stopped mid-sentence as High Millinar Julas paid him no heed at all. Even though it was a blatant taunt, High Millinar Julas ate the bait. Emotions were running high, and now he was stuck holding back Rex alone.

’I could hold him back, but that’s when his eyes were set on Julas.’ He thought inwardly.

A cold wind brushed against his spine.

Once he looked forward again, his breath was stuck in his throat as Rex was already looking at him.

Crimson eyes glowing and lips curled into a sadistic smile.

Just as he expected, this was Rex’s plan all along. He was lying when he said that he did what he did to High Millinar Angela because High Millinar Julas hurt Davina. He was only saying that as provocation, to make High Millinar Julas go check on High Millinar Angela.

Rex’s true purpose was to isolate one.

And in this case, High Millinar Vlaos was now all alone.

It was a long shot, but Rex got what he wanted, and he couldn’t help but chuckle darkly.

"Y-You demon..." High Millinar Vlaos rasped as he staggered backward.

"Not a Demon," Rex replied as he turned around and bared his fangs. "No—I am a Greater Lycan."

Meanwhile, High Millinar Julas rushed toward where High Millinar Angela had sunk.

His boots pounded the sand before he dove head-first into the shallows, not like an Olympic swimmer— but more like an animal that spent most of its life underwater. The water swallowed him, cold and dark, but he could still see clearly.

He swam desperately, eyes scanning the murky depths.

Even from below, he could see that the massive fang had punctured her belly completely through.

She was severely wounded, so he needed to find her quickly.

And it wasn’t that hard to find her.

High Millinar Julas found her still clamped in the jaws of the twisted wolf head.

Like a torpedo, he blasted forward. His hands reached for the wolf head’s jaws, prying them open with nothing but his raw strength, and they surprisingly gave easily. The teeth scraped against his bone, then flesh, but it was nothing he needed to worry about.

High Millinar Angela’s body slumped, but he caught her.

Just then, the wolf head’s eyes opened and fixed on him.

Its lips curled—a demented, knowing smile spread across its mangled face like it was waiting for this.

High Millinar Julas sensed the incoming danger, realized that there was a reason the wolf head was still compact instead of dissolving after hitting its mark. He hugged High Millinar Angela tightly, curled his body around hers, and braced for impact.

KABOOM—!

In the next second, the wolf head detonated.

A cataclysmic discharge of energy erupted from the severed head. A blast that vaporized a massive chunk of the shallows and sent a shockwave that tore through the water. Even the red shore was not in the clear, as a big piece of it was utterly destroyed.

High Millinar Julas was hurled away, bouncing across the ocean surface like a skipped stone.

Soon, he finally found land, crashing hard against the stone.

A small island off the coast of the main island. He struck a boulder hard and then fell to the sand—as a painful grunt tore from his lips. His entire back was charred, scorched black. He opened up his body to place High Millinar Angela down gently, and then rolled with a painful grunt.

"Such a dishonourable attack," He cursed aloud. "To think he set a trap with her as bait."

Just thinking about what Rex did made him furious.

It seemed High Millinar Vlaos was right to say that Rex was provoking him.

Rex lied and led him straight into the trap.

But then again, he couldn’t let High Millinar Angela drown, so that was practically unavoidable.

And that made the trap even more dishonourable.

High Millinar Julas sat up and checked on High Millinar Angela. She was fine. Other than the massive hole in her belly, she was alive. He reached into her inner pocket and pulled out a needle-sized tube. He broke it over her mouth and let a single droplet fall between her lips.

Almost instantly, her eyes shot open, and she gasped deeply—air flooded her lungs.

"W-What happened?!" She rasped, snapping her gaze left and right.

"You got sloppy; that’s what happened." High Millinar Julas replied flatly and shook his head. "Aren’t you the one who attended the meeting? Diamantona warned us not to underestimate him—and yet you still did. You caught him by surprise the first time—so why do you think he won’t have an answer when you rely on your astral form again?"

"I only did it to him one time," High Millinar Angela bit her lower lip. "I didn’t expect him to adapt so quickly."

"Just don’t let his attacks hit, regardless of whether you can phase through it or not."

"I got it. No need to tell me twice."

High Millinar Angela winced, her hand pressing against her stomach. The massive hole was still there—unclosed, unhealed. The droplet could only wake her, nothing more. Whether she lay in a coma or hovered at death’s door, it would always rouse her. But only for a limited time.

In this case, all she needed was to heal the hole in her belly to stay awake.

And with so much water all around them, that won’t be a problem.

Just then, someone crashed beside her.

Crash—!

Both of them spun in alert, ready to fight in case it was Rex—but it was High Millinar Vlaos instead.

He coughed out blood from his mouth, his body broken, yet he still rose to his feet like a robot.

"What happened to you?" High Millinar Julas stood up and turned towards him. "I told you to hold him there for a bit until I could help Angela. He’s strong, but you already had him pinned. Even if you didn’t, you could still go all out and keep him there!"

High Millinar Angela rose to her feet strugglingly, her hand still pressed against the hole in her belly as her regeneration worked to seal the wound. The flesh was knitting slowly, stubbornly, but she ignored the pain. She had endured worse.

She turned to the others, "Stop, this is not the time to be arguing."

Even though she said that to stop High Millinar Julas, her eyes were fixed on High Millinar Vlaos.

She had never seen him this silent before.

Normally, he looked like he was ignoring everyone—distant, aloof, lost in his own thoughts. But it was an act. A performance. She had known him long enough to see through it. He was the most caring. But this time, the silence was different.

His hands twitched at his sides, and his fingers curled and uncurled.

Not to mention, his posture seemed wrong. Too still. Too rigid. He was angry. Furious, even. Having to hold Rex back alone had pushed him to his limit, especially since he got wounded in the process—and now he was simmering with a rage that had nowhere to go.

She took a step toward him—her mouth opened to speak.

Splash—!

Blood splattered onto her face.

Her eyes widened. Her body moved on instinct, turning away, her hand flying to her cheek. The copper scent filled her nostrils. For a moment, she couldn’t process it. Couldn’t understand what had just really happened.

She paused, gathering her thoughts, forcing herself to breathe. Then she turned back.

High Millinar Vlaos had stabbed High Millinar Julas through the heart with his bare hand.

On the other hand, High Millinar Julas stared at him in shock.

No need to look down to know what happened.

His mouth opened, but no words came out as his legs buckled.

"I already did go all out." High Millinar Vlaos said.

High Millinar Angela’s mind reeled. This couldn’t be happening. High Millinar Vlaos was one of them. A comrade. A brother-in-arms. They had fought together for centuries. Bled together. Survived together. Most importantly, he was the most caring.

And now he was pulling his hand from High Millinar Julas’s chest.

Blood dripped from his fingers.

High Millinar Angela didn’t think. She punched.

Bam—!

Her fist connected with High Millinar Vlaos’ face, a thunderous blow that sent him hurtling backward. She watched where he landed and went down to hold onto High Millinar Julas— knowing full well that something was terribly wrong.

Across, High Millinar Vlaos stood on the surface of the water.

Despite what he did, betraying his own comrades, his lips curled into a grin.

"S-Something is wrong with him! Someone is controlling him!"
