The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 2021: Race Evolution (1)
Previously on The Invincible Full-Moon System...
In a normal ascension, a mortal was raised to become through having their divine spaces opened by the associated God they won over. A process that took time, and even after the connection was made, the newly turned Demigod would still need to train to sense their divine space and tapped into immortal energy.
Every single living being has a divine space, but most would have it closed until their deaths.
Only those who were born within the God Realm could skip this part.
Instead of having a God open their divine space, the God Realm itself opened it.
And thus, the opening was even smoother with no downside.
Rex, though not born within the God Realm, walked the path of those who were born in the God Realm.
All because he went through the unconventional means to become a Demigod and had his divine space opened through rigorous training, even without the help of a God. In his case, it was more like he was a self-made Demigod.
His understanding of things was rough, but his body was incredibly ready to become a true Demigod.
Upon locating his divine space, Aylith saw that it was already open.
Slowly, her translucent form manifested within an endless darkness, which was Rex’s divine space, one that reflected that his life had been painful and traumatic. She looked and realized that his divine space was not only open, but matured.
It was the reason why he seemed to already be a Demigod.
’I’ve never heard of a mortal stealing the power of a God...’ Aylith thought inside, inspecting the entire divine space to realize that it was vast—and sturdy. Mature. ’I know my children are still naïve when it comes to their godly powers, but this should not happen. Not only can he do the impossible, but he also knew things that a mortal shouldn’t know.
’He’s a Scion of Vertex, but he’s relatively new, and the other Scions aren’t known to be helpful.’
Everything around Rex was a mystery.
He was an enigma that Aylith couldn’t quite peer through, and that alone was quite endearing and scary.
Once she settled in, she stretched both her arms and then channelled the divinity that was being siphoned into her from Mayar. A brilliant silvery light shot out from her palms—the energy gathered and swirled, turning into a massive sphere.
Aylith kept going, kept pouring more, kept on lighting up Rex’s divine space.
It gradually grew in size.
She kept feeding it until it swelled to almost the size of the entire divine space—a silver sphere blotting out the boundaries of darkness. Once satisfied, she pressed her palms together and twisted. The colossal orb began to condense rapidly and violently, folding inward under her will.
And its form, which was entirely made of energy, began to turn solid.
From intangible to tangible.
It didn’t take long before a sizeable moon manifested.
Aylith panted slightly as it had been a very long time since she channelled her dominion over the greater moon like this. But even then—she was quite satisfied with how it turned out. Her eyes bore witness to a sizable silver moon that shifted from phase to phase at a fixed interval.
From new, waxing, full, and then waning.
Outside, Rex felt what was happening inside as clear as the full moon against the cloudless night sky.
A bloated, invasive pressure swelled inside him as if he had consumed something too vast for his body to contain. It churned in his gut badly, nauseating and hot—and he fought the urge to vomit the insides of his stomach.
Just then, the first seat of silver light broke through his skin.
It came in flickers, then in waves.
Swish—!
His flesh began to seethe with a sharp, metallic glow that crawled up his arms and spread like oil over water. The seething became steam, then smoke, and then a raging fire. A wild, dancing corona of silver that blazed from every inch of his body.
Even his crimson eyes were devoured by the light, replaced by burning orbs of liquid silver.
A pair that gleamed like polished blades.
Through the silver haze, the System’s notifications pierced into his vision.
<Notice: the Goddess of the Greater Moon has infiltrated the user’s divine space!>
<Be advised that any damage to the divine space would shatter the user’s soul.>
<Notice: the Goddess of the Great Moon is establishing a connection with the user!>
<Establishing connection...>
<...10%>
<... 47%>
<... 59%>
Rex watched the percentage rise as his body was overwhelmed by the surge of divinity from within.
And then, once the percentage reached one hundred percent, a shockwave detonated from his core.
Boom—!
An expanding ring of silver force that tore outward and shook the broken Sovereign Realm erupted, a savage display of ascension and power. His body remained in a meditative position, but it slowly began to rise, being lifted from the ground by an invisible force.
Once he was suspended mid-air, his body erupted completely with divinity and was engulfed by it.
Swoosh—!
"RAARGH!!"
Mayar roared at the top of his lungs as his form was already translucent, disappearing.
Even his soul thrashed against the confines of his failing body.
He was becoming more desperate and decided to burn every single thing in order to break free. But the Uncrowned Matron of Ire was ready. She shifted her grip and caught the escaping soul that was peeling away from the fleshy body back into place.
Even though she seemed to be calm, her hand trembled ever so slightly as she confined Mayar.
It was clear that there was resistance, but she held.
His divinity had almost been drained by the blood circle ritual—and in a few seconds, the last remaining of his being disappeared from sight. His physical form that held all of his divinity evaporated, and this overflowed divinity into the blood circle formation.
It was to the point that the formation cracked like glass.
Rex had already anticipated this. He knew that the divinity of a God would be too much to contain.
But that was the reason why he added the Fake Core of Immortality.
Knowing that the blood circle formation that he made to commence the First Blood Claim Ritual was a rushed product, considering he needed it done quickly as Mayar was on his throat, he knew that it would not hold much divine energy.
Even with that in mind, the formation still eventually cracked.
And soon, it would break and the divinity would be devoured by the God Realm.
It would be really bad, but even though that was the case, Rex’s lips were curling into a maniacal smile.
He has a solution.
<Killed the Lunirich God of the Harvest Full Moon, a God-rank entity!>
<Obtained ten billion gold!>
<Level up!>
<Level up!>
<Level...!"
Countless notifications flooded his vision as the exp he obtained from killing Mayar increased his exp bar and filled it again and again. He was levelling up like crazy. More than he ever did since he got the System on that fateful night.
A miraculous moment.
His metallic silver eyes watched as his level count rose rapidly, until it finally settled.
<Congratulations, the user has reached level 130!>
<Obtained the Longevity of Realms item!>
<Obtained the Deadly Celestial Corpse Solution item!>
<Obtained the Original Regeneration Manual item!>
<Obtained 200 Divine Points!>
<Congratulations on completing the God-killer achievement!>
<Obtained Devouring Sentience item!>
For the first time in his entire life, he managed to kill a God.
Naturally, the System would recognize that and provide him with the appropriate rewards.
But that was not important right now.
Rex’s eyes were fixated on the items he obtained from reaching level one-hundred and thirty—and he scanned all of their descriptions and realized that they were all useful for him in the current moment. A blessing from the System.
<Connection to the Goddess of the Greater Moon has been established!>
<First Blood Claim Ritual has been completed!>
<Congratulations, the user has completed the Last Race Evolution Quest!>
<Calculating rewards...>
As soon as he completed his connection with Aylith, thereby becoming a true Demigod with a real God backing him, and then struck down Mayar and offered his divinity to the First Blood Claim Ritual, the Last Race Evolution Quest was finally complete.
And the reward stirred, beginning to process.
An Origin-rank evolution for his bloodline to evolve into.
Last time, he was given a selection of bloodlines, which made him the Royal Black Prince.
But instead of that, a single gauge appeared before his eyes.
It was empty, waiting, and Rex understood instantly that this was something more. Despite the surge of power that erupted from his body, seizing his muscles until they locked rigid, he forced his head to turn over his shoulder.
Silver light spilled from his gaze like molten metal, burning through the space until he found Aylith.
His voice was hoarse, urgent.
"Aylith! Pour the divinity into my divine space! Put it fast, or else the formation will break!"
"Do you even understand what you’re saying? You’re going to implode if your divinity rises too much."
"Just do it until I reach my limit. No—until I say stop."
"What if you can’t say stop?"
"Don’t worry about that."
Even though this sounded extremely risky—as the process of increasing divinity shouldn’t be a rushed process, especially for a new Demigod like Rex—she decided to obey. Her soft mind was still extremely disoriented by the wail of her son as he was dying, but she could think enough to know that Rex should know what he was doing.
Considering what happened and how decisively he moved, that must’ve been the case.
Nobody would approach this as decisively as him if they weren’t confident.
So, Aylith decided to follow his lead.
Before his very eyes—the gauge began to be filled as more and more divinity was shoved into his divine space. White. Then green. And then blue. Each threshold sent a fresh, violent surge through his frame, and his body screamed in protest.
Bones cracked. Veins split. Internal organs crushed.
The pain was beyond excruciation to the point of obliteration, but he didn’t tell Aylith to stop.
He wouldn’t.
Rex knew that the gauge was tied to the Origin-rank bloodline that he was going to get, and he wouldn’t waste this golden opportunity by being cautious. He pushed past his limit, into the fire, into the breaking, with no intention of stopping at all.
If he shattered, so be it.
At least he would shatter as something greater.
But that is if he really shattered, as he has a few things he could use.
Outside, Lilliana threw herself against Rex’s direction—her body a shield as Davina sagged in her arms, still dazed and struggling to focus. She braced as the shockwave tore past; the impact rattled her teeth. Once the brush was gone, she looked over her shoulder and froze.
Something extremely breathtaking was happening behind her.
The violent silver light around Rex was no longer just blazing. It was swirling. Coiling. It folded inward, wrapping around his body in tightening spirals until it hardened into a second moon—a cocoon of solid radiance that trapped him at its center.
Aylith stood outside it, both hands pressed flat against the glowing surface.
She was still channeling the stolen divinity from the blood circle straight into Rex without pause.
Just then, Lilliana’s breath was caught in her throat when the surface of the moon beneath her feet began to glow brighter. The pale stone was lit from within, then brightened. Every crack, every broken shard, and every inch of the realm was lit up.
It kept going until the light rose like a tide and shot toward the cocoon in a storm of silver streams.
She didn’t understand what was happening.
But she knew it was something beyond anything they’d prepared for.
Then Davina stirred in her arms, and Lilliana looked down. Her sister was glowing too. The same silvery light bled from her skin, and before Lilliana could react, Davina was lifted skyward. Just like Rex, she was also evolving or being completed.
