The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 1811: Claiming the Superpower
Previously on The Invincible Full-Moon System...
Emperor Dominar’s gaze ignited with intensity. ‘No, it’s not him... It’s me. Ages have passed since I last unleashed my full might in battle,’ he reflected. “Don’t underestimate me!!”
Within his chest, the Reap and Sow Echo began to shine brightly.
The ability absorbed the wounds inflicted on him, mending them right away, before launching a concealed gust of wind directly toward Rex. Detecting the peril, Rex swerved aside, yet the gust trailed after him and unleashed the full brunt of the harm.
Splash—!
Blood erupted from his arms in a violent spray.
Not only was the injury transferred to him, but it also intensified in power.
As anticipated, the Reap and Sow Echo proved incredibly formidable.
“That’s the spirit! Let’s continue this deadly clash! May blood pour like rain under this stunning night sky!”
Laughter burst from Rex’s lips. Despite the agonizing torment and the loss of his arms, he chuckled wildly. Voidal energy surged into his form, regenerating his limbs in a flash. His Parasitic Regeneration passive skill had grown even more potent.
Crimson liquid dripped from his hands as he formed a massive orb of solidified blood, large as a dwelling.
Yet another Inevitable Death.
With the Blood Moon Echo now in his possession, deploying this devastating technique carried no penalties.
He could unleash it endlessly if desired.
Bam—!
Rex propelled the orb toward the emperor with a forceful kick, then tilted his head upward.
Precisely as planned, the serpent and the White Mask kept ascending toward the heavens. Their progress slowed by the relentless cannon blasts, yet they pressed on. Now, they hovered just five hundred meters below the Sky People.
A bit further, and they’d close the gap.
However, Rex’s vision caught the Sky People’s forces swooping down to block their path.
Waves of elemental soldiers descended like divine soldiers from the stars. At least a hundred strong. Clad in what seemed like heavenly armor. Each group shared a matching hue, but even more fighters materialized from the clouds and beams of golden radiance.
A far more cohesive force than the elemental ranks trailing behind, numbering in the thousands.
One unit consisted of fighters formed purely from mist, while another shimmered with solar essence.
Paladins.
Rex remembered Devo’s authentic shape from the look of the Cloud Paladins, though far less imposing.
From Kaelthar’s words, four defenses guarded against unwanted intruders.
Sky Watchers, Cloud Paladins, Sun Paladins, followed by the Heaven’s Opening.
The Sky Watchers were those artillery pieces, and now the paladins arrived.
Boom—!
Rex rocketed upward via the Voidal Moonflow Acceleration. His enhanced body let him activate the technique repeatedly without pause. To observers below, he appeared to tread the air effortlessly.
Shielded by the Law of Misdirection and Minor Law of Foresight, he nimbly evaded the descending energy beams.
He surged past the serpent and positioned himself boldly atop it, confronting the skies without a hint of dread.
His arms extended wide. Mad cackles echoed from his throat. And his eyes burned with an even deeper frenzy.
High above, three imposing silhouettes floated like gods surveying the realm below.
Among them, a lady enveloped in flawless white radiance, draped in a spotless gown with a flowing milky veil above, gazed down at the bloodthirsty Rex. “What’s wrong with him?” she inquired. Her tone revealed inner unease. The wild stare troubled her most. “Why is he so obsessed with assaulting us?”
“I’m not sure,” replied another presence, a male figure composed of molten rock, with a shake of his head. “But he’s resolute, that much is clear.”
“He claimed to be a knight from the Haeltara Empire,” responded the elderly man in dark robes, fondling his lengthy beard. “He also accused us of seizing a key person from the empire. Absurd. Surely, it’s all a mix-up.”
“Mix-up or otherwise, this empire shows tremendous audacity for its knight to strike like this.”
“Agreed. We ought to punish them severely.”
“Still, this knight packs real power. He’s drawing nearer to our position.”
“The Sky Paladins will halt him. He’s gifted, no doubt, but too impulsive. In our realm, such rashness leads only to early demise. Should he endure by some miracle, the Heaven’s Opening will crush him and his empire alike.”
Yet another form approached them through the air.
Bolts of electricity danced over his shape, his physique resembling a wandering vapor.
“Gatekeeper Rezar, come to watch the spectacle as well?” the old man, known as the Gatekeeper of Shadow, teased lightly. Rezar’s presence was unexpected; he’d been missing. “I figured you’d be focused on attempting a breakthrough.”
“What’s happening here?” He brushed off the elder and peered downward. “Who’s that down there?”
“A fellow named Rex Silverstar,” the Gatekeeper of Light explained. “A knight seeking a vital individual he thinks we Sky People captured.”
Rezar’s features tightened briefly, unnoticed by the others.
He glanced below and fixed his gaze on Rex, smirking at the futile effort.
‘Is this the Human he’s been bragging about?’ Rezar examined Rex closely. ‘Perfect. I’ll claim his head. That should shatter his defiance.’
Meanwhile, Rex crouched low and folded his arms around his torso as if embracing himself.
A tormented snarl rose from his chest while his jet-black fur rippled and sparkled with metallic luster. Voidal energy flooded his frame. Violet thunder flickered over his skin, and with the next inhale, he flung his body toward the sky.
Across his dark pelt, innumerable eyes materialized.
Monstrous entities swarmed forth—like an unending surge of darkness. Enormous ebony wolves. Thousands erupted from within him and lunged at the approaching paladins—like flowing ink. Every one snarled and revealed its teeth without hesitation.
He invoked the Monarch of Savage Beast to call them forth.
They fanned out and assaulted the paladins head-on.
Scores, perhaps a hundred, perished under the Sky Watchers’ onslaught.
A single paladin could fell ten with a single strike.
Yet their issue lay not in power, but in sheer volume. Soon enough, they overran the paladins entirely as the serpent twisted through the breach, shattering the lines—and drawing within one hundred meters of the Sky City.
Rex’s frenzied stare locked onto the four grand silhouettes overhead.
And his mouth twisted into a vicious smirk.
“By the empire’s authority, I shall bring you low.”
The four figures chuckled together.
Suddenly, a shimmering barrier of green light arose, dividing Rex from the Sky People. It startled Rex, repelling all advances toward them—like an impenetrable shield. No energy traces hovered above the group. And judging by the faint astonishment on the four faces, this wasn’t their doing.
Not the Heaven’s Opening.
Rex glanced below. It stemmed from the emperor.
He couldn’t draw near without clashing with the paladins or enduring the beam storm, but that wouldn’t deter him from intervening. For the first time in millennia, he yearned fiercely for one thing.
And that was to prevent Rex from tarnishing the empire’s reputation.
<Notice: the wall consists wholly of Law power!>
<Scanning the Law...>
<Law of Latency identified!>
Boom—!
The serpent slammed into the barrier and failed to breach it. The White Mask aided the effort, but the shield held firm. Simultaneously, a colossal golden rune circle manifested beneath the cloud supporting the Sky City, now transformed into a towering thunderhead.
Power surged along its two-mile span, shaking the entire domain below.
<Warning!>
<Warning: excessive energy is targeting the user!>
A flood of crimson alerts overwhelmed his sight.
The System clearly signaled that enduring this strike would prove fatal, even in his present condition. It would vaporize him, the White Mask, and the serpent in one go. This had to be the Heaven’s Opening. The core defense of the Sky City.
Its might had been built over countless ages by ravenously consuming life force and voidal essence.
Yielding a single blast capable of total annihilation.
From the expressions of these four godlike beings, it was evident they intended to make an example of Rex.
Perhaps their prestige had faded with time, and the world had forgotten their true strength. Unleashing the Sky City’s ultimate weapon would undoubtedly reignite the primal terror in all hearts.
But the assault was still building.
A strike of such magnitude required moments to prepare. Moments for Rex to act.
HONG—!
Mid-flight, Rex dropped into a ready pose and drew the Blood Moon’s boon into his veins.
His arched horns pulsed with red light.
Beneath his soles, sustaining his hover, stood the Aegis of Moon Sentinel. He balanced on its slender golden rim like a specter. His muscles swelled as the Red Dawn of Kaiser pulsed with escalating force.
Against the Heaven’s Opening, most would shrink back.
Rex? He eagerly awaited the shock on the four figures’ faces as he sowed disorder in their haven.
Both the Law of Misdirection and Inevitability coated his obsidian-steel talons with a flawless glow. No paladin could touch him, despite their efforts. Once prepared, the Aegis of Moon Sentinel angled and hurled him upward.
Boom—!
Even against the Sky City’s oppressive force, Rex shattered the sound barrier and ascended like a shooting star.
Rex tore through the atmosphere, gathering turbulent and thick energy in his talons, then rebounded—with the Voidal Moonflow Acceleration boosting his ascent. As he closed in on the barrier, he drew back his claws. He focused the might into them, and with a mighty roar, he smashed against the shield.
CRACK—!
Beneath the threefold barrage, fissures raced across the green barrier.
And with one final united surge, it fragmented.
Now, nothing divided them from the Sky City.
Yet simultaneously, the Heaven’s Opening reached full power.
All four figures grinned, convinced of Rex’s doom. Even they couldn’t withstand the Heaven’s Opening unscathed. For one of his caliber, survival was impossible. It was over. This brazen incursion would conclude here.
Their grins wavered as Rex countered with a taunting grin of his own.
He was the one trapped; they held the safety.
But his demeanor implied the reverse.
And strangely, the four trusted his look over their instincts.
“Senior Ignatius,” Rex whispered. “Time to deliver my greeting.”
Rumble—!
The realm’s hues scattered in a heartbeat. The whole domain quaked. Magma burst from the earth as if celebrating some colossal arrival. Even the four figures sensed a chilling gust of mortality along their backs.
An aura from above gripped their essences.
An overwhelming force beyond their grasp.
Rigid and perspiring, they tilted their heads skyward. That’s when their dread found its source.
From the pitch-black void high above, a blazing comet—spanning like a mountain chain, immense as a land’s core—shredded the firmament. Cracks on its exterior revealed the molten glow within. As the initial pulse of energy cascaded down, the four figures recoiled in astonishment.
Of the quartet, Rezar dropped to his knees in utter disbelief.
His eyes bulged in astonishment.
“What in creation is that?! Who could this be?!”
“I’ve never sensed such overwhelming might! Has the empire gained a new ally?!”
“Unthinkable!”
“Reach the Divine Saintess! We require her aid!”
One among them, the Gatekeeper of Light, sent a mental call to Kei Xun.
Silence returned.
The Divine Saintess had forsaken them, leaving them to face this nightmare alone.
Rex, meanwhile, admired the mere hint of strength from his upcoming foe. Ignatius couldn’t join the fray against Kaiser due to Scion traditions, but versus the Sky People? That changed everything.
This marked his welcome from a veteran Scion.
And for the first time, Rex savored his predicament.
“I didn’t seek this path. I avoided such extremes. Yet fate left me no alternative,” Rex extended his arms outward, embracing the turmoil and ruin surrounding him. “And so... I, the usurper, seize this realm’s supreme might.”
KABOOM—!!!
