The Invincible Full-Moon System Chapter 1812: Feeding Ground (1)

Previously on The Invincible Full-Moon System...
Emperor Dominar unleashed the Reap and Sow Echo to heal himself and amplify his attacks against Rex, who regenerated his severed arms and retaliated with a massive blood sphere empowered by the Blood Moon Echo. As the serpent and White Mask climbed toward the Sky City, intercepted by legions of elemental warriors, Cloud Paladins, and Sun Paladins, Rex surged skyward and summoned thousands of ferocious black wolves to overwhelm the defenders, shattering their ranks. The Sky People's gatekeepers observed the intrusion with disdain, only for Emperor Dominar to erect a barrier of the Law of Latency, while the Heaven’s Opening charged a devastating energy. Rex shattered the wall with combined laws and skills, then called upon a senior Scion's fiery meteor to counter the impending doom, boldly claiming the realm's superpower amid the ensuing chaos.

The meteor slammed straight into the Sky City.

It burst open in a halo of hushed, white radiance, like another sun igniting amid the shadows. The roar followed just a moment behind, booming like the mightiest thunder, as though the earth itself had split apart. Without question, every living being across the Solmara Continent sensed the impact.

No question remained.

The earth shuddered violently. Peaks crumbled into dust. In far-off hamlets, dishes cracked against tabletops.

The meteor's influence stretched to every corner of the continent.

Even the legendary dome of the Sky City—renowned as unbreakable throughout the domain, tougher than a fortress-level Obelisk of Life—endured for barely a moment. It fractured like brittle crystal. Then the blast wave of raw energy surged forth.

It leveled the shining marble docks. It turned crystalline towers, inscribed with age-old tales, into vapor. Ages of heritage, rule, and pride vanished from the heavens in a mere blink. Nothing in the city could even hinder its path.

No protective measure stood a chance against the meteor's fury.

From the ravaged soil below, amid the sparkling wreckage mixing with the Black Rain, Emperor Dominar stared at the devastation in terror. His gaze captured the events sharply, yet his thoughts rejected the truth. The timeless Sky City, the invincible core of his realm for endless ages, had simply... vanished.

Shattered. Ruined. Engulfed by a growing fireball cloud that consumed the heavens.

All that lingered was the glaring Blood Moon, delighting in the bloodshed of this night.

Not even the Divine Saintess would dare such a feat.

Hell, a being of this magnitude shouldn't align with anyone like Rex.

It had taken the whole continent centuries to persuade the Divine Saintess to join their cause, but after just a month in the Spirit Realm, Rex had secured an ally equal to—or surpassing—her. Emperor Dominar refused to accept this reality.

And in that instant, a cold truth dawned on him, one he could no longer ignore.

He had condemned his empire.

A mile distant, Rex hauled himself from the pit, laughing wildly like a lunatic.

"Fucking hell, System. You want me to beat... that?" He muttered out loud, chuckling at the absurd strength required to climb the Scion ladder—and edge nearer to Invincibility. "He basically nuked the Sky City from afar, and the realm’s will couldn’t even stop him."

Though shocking, Rex deemed it appropriate.

Ignatius called Kaiser a simple God, so such might seemed standard.

As wild as it sounded, it fit perfectly.

"Hope he didn’t kill all of them, or else that’d defeat the point." Rex rose to his feet, rolling his neck while fractured bones and injuries healed swiftly. He glanced sideways. The serpent was also mending from the slam into the ground by the blast. "Devo have to be fine, too."

Rex had specifically requested Ignatius to neutralize the Sky City’s defenses and render the Sky People helpless.

He didn’t aim to obliterate the Sky City. And that meteor struck him as overkill.

Rex vaulted onto the serpent’s head once more.

It hissed in objection. Even bucked wildly to shake Rex off, but he clung tight.

"Climb back up again, we still have to feast!" Rex bellowed and dug his claws into the serpent’s skull, compelling it to soar upward again. As they rose, he gained a clearer view of the destruction and couldn’t help but shake his head.

All Sky Paladins lay scattered across the terrain. Most bore mangled, scorched, and warped forms.

Of course, his black wolves shared the same fate. Dead.

The royal bubble persisted. Surprising, yet it did. It now formed a delicate orb of lingering energy. Within, chaos reigned, ravaged by Emperor Dominar’s unchecked might rather than the remnants of Ignatius’ strike.

Beyond its edge, the world lay in ruins.

The terrain wasn’t merely scarred—it was utterly unmade. Vast cracks across the continent leaked streams of glowing lava, and timeless woods had become wastelands of soot and fused sand. Every habitat for a thousand miles vanished in one earth-shaking instant.

Even the Black Rift appeared narrower. Ignatius’ strength defied comprehension.

Rex might usually feel a twinge of guilt.

Most folks out there were harmless bystanders uninvolved in this mess, but the overwhelming fury and raw urge to shed blood drowned out any regret, leaving only thrill in his thoughts. He called forth the Blood Moon Echo.

His Spiritual Veins pulsed just from invoking it.

Not due to frailty or fatigue, but because the atmosphere hummed with Ignatius’ essence.

Likely how Ignatius ensured the Sky People stayed subdued.

At least those who survived.

Rex summoned a wolf of pitch darkness. It marked the final one he could muster; the others had perished. It dropped down, a quick shadow streak over the damaged ground, and came back bearing the empire’s standard gripped in its jaws. The flag was in decent shape.

Many lay charred or snapped, but this remained whole.

He claimed it and pressed onward upward.

Just moments before, this sky sector had swarmed with paladins and the dazzling barriers of the Sky City’s safeguards. Now, only gusts, haze, and quiet prevailed. The ascent proved easy until Rex neared the Sky City.

As anticipated, despite the wreckage, upright marbles and sculptures still hinted at the Sky City’s former majesty and celestial splendor. The Blood Moon bathed everything in red, yet these fallen marble towers on the ground gleamed brightly.

Even after the direct hit, some marbles endured unbroken.

Rex jumped off the serpent.

His landing boomed heavily due to his current massive size.

Maybe the Blood Moon had enlarged him beyond usual, or perhaps embracing his werewolf nature caused it. Regardless, such details didn’t bother Rex now. Instead, he relished towering over nearly everything from this stature.

Rex inhaled deeply. Then breathed out through his mouth.

"Haah... I love the smell of blood." His lips twisted upward. The aroma of enchanted blooms and cream wafted around. He then faced a injured paladin, collapsed nearby. One leg lay shattered. "And fear."

Fear dominated the surroundings. It signaled many survivors still lingered.

Good.

<Notice: the suppression from Ignatius will last twenty minutes.>

Rex eyed the alert and shrugged. Although fifteen minutes wasn’t much, it sufficed amply for his purpose here—and beyond. He could likely wipe out everyone in this zone within a minute. This worked fine.

He faced the serpent, lifted an index finger, and hesitated.

"Havoc," Rex uttered with a wicked smile. "Have as much fun in this place. You guys got east and south."

In kind, the serpent bared its teeth and swiftly coiled off, smashing and toppling whatever blocked its path. Voidal Monsters gained power by consuming vital essence. The spirits in the Sky City resembled top-grade sustenance.

Both the serpent and the White Mask wouldn’t squander this chance.

Rex, meanwhile, bounded to the nearest lofty summit.

He touched down on the golden dome at a slant and gripped the slender spire. Beneath the overcast heavens, the dark downpour, and sporadic violet bolts—that rumbled fiercely—he resembled death incarnate, surveying the hunting grounds.

Above all, Rex thrust the empire’s banner into the slender spire.

Now, the banner fluttered dominantly.

A victor’s emblem that would surely intensify the grudge against the Sky People.

True to its title, the Sky City floated high above.

It hovered and typically concealed itself in the mists.

From this elevated spot, the city sprawled endlessly into the distance.

And the vital essence here surged at least fivefold stronger than inside the royal bubble. The gap was staggeringly vast. Under normal conditions, locating someone in this enormous city would prove challenging. But Rex possessed the System.

He issued a single order, and a blue holographic sweep covered the whole city.

Before the scan completed, a quest appeared.

...

<Sudden Quest!>

Objective: A Tribute for the Highseat of Invincibility.

Description: A newly crowned emperor needed a crowning achievement to earn the trust of the people. It’s the same for Scions. Mark the Sky City with the Invincibility Symbol!

Time Limit: 19 minutes 45 seconds.

Reward: Will be calculated depending on the user’s performance.

Penalty: -

...

Rex scanned the quest and shifted to the Invincibility Symbol guide on a separate display. He hadn’t intended to pursue Scion matters, but this task appealed to him. With Ignatius enabling it, why refuse?

"I can already tell," He grinned. "Tonight is going to be a good night."

Moments later.

A squad of about two dozen Sun Paladins patrolled the deserted streets. They trailed the cries and disturbances. As guardians of the Sky City, the citizens required their aid now more than ever.

Approaching a crossroads, the group stopped short.

Civilians flooded in from the right, yelling and fleeing in panic.

Despite its fame, the Sky City housed not just fighters. Ordinary folk born aloft resided here too, dwelling in the heights. For millennia, they had never known the dread that surface spirits endured.

But that changed this night.

Swoosh—!

A blade whirled through the sky with a fierce whoosh of air.

It sliced across seven forms in one impossible arc. A flawless pattern of slaughter. Its force halted only after the axe blade lodged with a damp snap into the rear of an eighth man’s head savagely.

All gazes fixed on the tool.

A single-handed axe, now coated in glossy, new red.

Even as it lodged there, it quivered and radiated a tangible thirst for blood, as if the metal breathed and craved further gore. Blood soaked the pavement. And with a quiver, the blood streamed rightward like iron drawn by a mighty lodestone.

The Sun Paladins formed ranks, clanging their metal shields as one.

Trained as defenders, they invoked a special acquirable Spirit Genesis to form a semicircle of golden light.

"Run to us!" One bellowed.

Like prey pursued by a predator, the folk pivoted and dashed toward the Sun Paladins. Their frames passed through the semicircle of light, entering refuge. The injured, unable to flee, pleaded for rescue.

No one budged from position.

Aiding the hurt would disrupt the line. And that hazard they couldn’t afford.

"Steady!" The order pierced the suffocating hush.

It issued from a bareheaded Sun Paladin. His golden locks clung damp with perspiration—and one amber eye blazed with intense resolve. The meteor’s ruin had decimated their forces entirely. He wasn’t even a leader, yet he gathered these Sun Paladins to resist the invader.

He noted the stark terror in his comrades.

He observed their frames shaking so fiercely that shields and lances clinked in a jarring metallic din. Yet he couldn’t fault them. After the catastrophe, fear gripped him too. "We hold this line! Buy time for the higher legions, or we all die here!"

None knew the invader’s appearance.

But upon his arrival, dread sank their spirits to abyssal depths.

Rex stepped from the alley, strolling leisurely as if on a casual walk. He towed a decapitated body. The crimson trail it left instilled horror in their souls. Bits of meat and gore also stained his jaws.

And his ebony fur dripped with blood. It gleamed a richer tone now.

He spared no look at the Sun Paladins’ array.

Instead, his stare locked on a sobbing figure on the ground, inching backward.

Rex yanked the Maw of Oblivion loose with a soggy, grinding tug. Before the man could crawl free, he stomped a foot on his back, anchoring him down. Then he grabbed the man’s collar—hauled him up slightly, and sank his teeth in.

His canines pierced through bone.

The cranium split like earthenware, and the head tore off in one vicious yank.
