Nolan awakens from a coma to find his reality altered, having recalled a fatal accident only to be told he was in a two-year coma and is now recovering. Seira reveals she has been protecting him from a persistent suitor, James, from the powerful Voncort family, whom Nolan vows to deal with. Seira dotes on Nolan during his recovery, even bathing him herself, much to his initial embarrassment and eventual comfort. As Nolan's parents arrive for a visit, accompanied by an unexpected little girl, Seira prepares to reveal a surprise.

"It's good to see you're doing well, Nolan."

The man on the left was the one who spoke.

He was tall, around 1.9 meters, with a handsome face and short, neatly combed black hair.

His eyes were a stunning shade of blue, like the midday sky.

He wore a gray suit with a white collared shirt and a red tie.

His face bore an uncanny resemblance to Nolan's—almost ninety percent alike.

The man was Arden Frey, the head of the Frey family and Nolan's biological father.

Nolan turned to the calm, impassive man with a complicated expression.

"Thank you for your words, Father," he replied flatly.

"How are you feeling? Did the doctor say anything?"

The woman beside Arden stepped forward, pulling the little girl along with her.

Nolan looked at the woman with a complicated gaze.

She had a beautiful face that seemed untouched by time.

Her long ginger-red hair flowed down her back.

She wore an elegant red dress that suited her perfectly.

Most striking of all were her eyes—a beautiful shade of sapphire purple.

Nolan had inherited his purple eyes from her.

She was his mother, Mey Frey.

"I'm okay, Mother. The doctor said my condition has improved significantly. In a month and a half, I should be fully recovered."

His voice trembled slightly when he said the word "Mother."

He knew that Mey was his biological mother, but strangely, she felt like a stranger to him.

The face of his other mother, Isabella, flashed through his mind.

His chest ached unconsciously, but Nolan quickly suppressed his emotions.

"Thank goodness…"

Mey let out a long sigh of relief. She gently stroked Nolan's face before pulling him into a hug.

"I've missed you so much, my dear."

That warm embrace should have moved Nolan.

But in reality, he felt nothing.

He didn't understand why. Still, he had a vague idea of the reason.

Nolan hugged his mother back and buried his face in the crook of her neck.

After a few moments, Mey pulled away and met Seira's gaze.

A gentle smile appeared on her face.

"Thank you for taking care of him, Seira. And I'm sorry for troubling you. Nolan is truly lucky to have a fiancée like you."

Seira smiled shyly, her face flushing slightly.

"You're welcome, Auntie. It's my duty to look after Nolan, and I really enjoy taking care of him."

Her answer made Mey even more pleased with her future daughter-in-law.

Seira wasn't just beautiful; she was also talented, came from a good family, and, most importantly, met all of Mey's expectations.

There was no other woman in the country more deserving of becoming her daughter-in-law.

The four of them continued their casual conversation, with Arden asking Nolan the most questions.

After all, the car accident appeared to have been intentional.

Nolan told him everything he knew.

"I knew it!" Arden gritted his teeth in anger. "That accident wasn't just an accident. There's a mastermind behind it."

Mey furrowed her brows.

"Do you have any idea who did it?"

Arden let out a long sigh and massaged his temples.

"Not yet. But I'm absolutely certain the culprit isn't far from the other conglomerate families."

The Frey family stood at the pinnacle of power in the country. Naturally, they had countless enemies.

The quickest way to destroy the Frey family was to kill their heir.

Once that happened, the family would eventually crumble on its own, without the need for assassins or anything else.

"You have to find them, Arden! I won't stand by and let my son be denied justice!" Mey said coldly, her expression grim.

Nolan quietly watched their conversation. There wasn't a shred of happiness in his heart.

He knew it… He knew all too well that their concern for him came solely from his status as the heir, not because he was their son.

But Nolan didn't care.

He hadn't returned to his home world to reclaim his position as the Frey family's heir. Nor had he returned to see his parents. Seira was the only reason he had come back.

"Here you go, Uncle, Auntie."

Seira carried over a tray with two cups of tea and a glass of cold chocolate milk.

She carefully placed them on the table.

"Thank you, sweetheart."

Mey smiled contentedly as she picked up her cup and took a sip.

"Thank you."

Arden gave Seira a slight nod before taking a sip of his tea.

"Thank you, Sister Seira!"

The little girl smiled sweetly before picking up her glass and taking a sip.

Nolan watched the girl curiously. She happened to be looking at him too, but the moment their eyes met, she quickly looked away, embarrassed.

"Can you explain this to me?" Nolan asked, glancing at his parents in confusion. "Who is that little girl?"

Mey set down her cup and smiled meaningfully.

"Sorry, I forgot to introduce her to you."

She gently stroked the girl's head.

"This is Alice, my daughter. In other words, she's your little sister."

Nolan: "…"

"Come on, Alice. Say hello to your big brother," Arden said.

Alice slid off the sofa and shyly walked toward Nolan.

"H-Hello, Brother Nolan," she greeted him, clutching the hem of her skirt tightly as she lowered her head slightly. "My name is Alice Frey. Nice to meet… you, Brother!"

Her nervous voice made it obvious just how uncomfortable she felt around her older brother.

Nolan stared at Alice in a daze. She was both beautiful and adorable.

She had inherited about ninety-five percent of her features from Mey. Only her eyes and eyebrows looked exactly like Arden's.

The soft chubbiness of her cheeks made them look like little steamed buns, making anyone want to pinch them.

Snapping out of his daze, Nolan glanced at his parents with a flat expression.

"How could you have another child at your age?" he asked suspiciously.

He was already twenty-eight years old. So, one could only imagine how old his parents must be.

Mey smiled shyly. She scratched her cheek and replied awkwardly, "I don't understand it either. Two years ago—or more precisely, while you were in a coma—the doctor suddenly told me I was pregnant."

"Heh…" Nolan smiled mockingly. "Father, you're truly amazing. I never would've guessed you still had that kind of ability."

"Ahem!" Arden cleared his throat, looking embarrassed.

Even though he tried to keep a straight face, anyone observant enough could see a slight blush on his cheeks.

Nolan ignored his parents and turned his gaze back to Alice.

The girl looked up and met his gaze. She quickly lowered her head, but Nolan stopped her.

He gently held Alice's chin between his index and middle fingers.

"Why do you always look away whenever you see me? Do you think I'm going to eat you?"

Alice was startled and quickly waved her hands.

"I-It's not like that, Brother. I… I'm just… embarrassed."

Her voice trailed off as a blush spread across her chubby cheeks.

Nolan simply smiled and said nothing.

Yet deep down, he felt an inexplicable sense of unease.

Whenever he looked at Alice, he felt as though he were looking at someone else—more precisely, someone he had once loved with all his heart.

His precious little sister… Elina Lorian.
