Ayang reflects on her father's mistakes and the disaster that befell Miaojang due to his dealings with the Flame Sect. She resolves to rectify his errors and ensure her tribe's sacrifice was not in vain. Ran Lei pledges his loyalty to Ayang, and they discuss their precarious situation. Fearing for their safety, Ayang proposes seeking protection from Great Xuan's troops stationed nearby, but Ran Lei expresses concerns about their past involvement with the Flame Sect. He then suggests a plan to gain Great Xuan's favor by rescuing a captured prince.

"Okay." Ayang mused for a moment before nodding. "We mustn't waste any more time; let's depart tonight." The Flame Sect's stronghold is located in Miaojiang. Although they have grown in power, their tactics have largely involved ambushes rather than direct confrontations with the Daxuan army. After all, the Nanzhao army remains a significant force, compelling the Flame Sect to remain stationed within the Miaojiang mountains. The captured Yun King is also believed to be hidden somewhere in these mountains. For those of us who grew up amidst the mountains and swamps, the forest terrain naturally presents a distinct advantage.

"I'll prepare some provisions, but..." Ran Lei started to leave, only to pause and look towards Jin Bao. "What about the little prince, Jin Bao? Perhaps we should entrust him to my mother. That way..."

"No, I will not abandon my brother," Ayang declared, shaking her head. "Whatever the future holds, he will remain by my side." She then glanced at Ran Lei. "This way, we can pose as a couple with a child, maintaining our disguise and blending in more easily." Jin Bao's mother passed away during childbirth, and his father, considering the child ill-omened, never publicly acknowledged him, leaving him under the care of the tribe. Few people are actually aware that Jin Bao is her brother, and the Flame Sect certainly has no knowledge of this fact.

Ran Lei considered this for a moment, his gaze lingering on Ayang before quickly returning to normal as he gave a slight nod. He then turned and exited the room.

Ran Lei, as the son of the Huaka Tribe's leader, was not the eldest son. Consequently, he was not the designated heir, which afforded him the opportunity to leave the tribe and serve as a guard for the Miaojiang King.

Now that the Miaojiang King has met with misfortune, Ran Lei has returned in secret, with his elder brother being the only one aware of his presence.

However, just as he reached the doorway, it was abruptly flung open.

"Alei, we've received intelligence that the Flame Sect's followers have brutally slaughtered several tribes in Lainong," announced the man who entered – Ran Lei's elder brother, Ran Guang, the successor of the Huaka Tribe.

"Those savages..."

"Princess, now is hardly the time for indignation," Ran Guang cautioned, looking at Ayang. "They are approaching rapidly, so you must make your escape from here as swiftly as possible."

"Will this location be endangered?" Ayang inquired, a frown creasing her brow.

"We will also be relocating swiftly," Ran Guang stated, his expression grave. "However, as long as they cannot locate you, they likely won't dare to act with such brazenness. Furthermore, our Huaka Tribe is not as defenseless as the Lainong Tribe." He then handed over a bundle, adding, "I've arranged for Arang to escort you out."

"Understood." Ran Lei nodded, accepting the bundle before turning his attention back to Ayang.

Ayang had already changed Jin Bao's diaper and secured him in a swaddling cloth. She then wrapped an outer layer, treated with a special medicinal solution, around them. This coating serves not only to repel certain insects but can also offer protection against some weapon strikes.

"Thank you, Aguang," Ayang expressed, standing up and bringing her palms together in a respectful bow towards Ran Guang. "Should I ever have the opportunity to return, I vow to repay your kindness."

"Let us proceed," Ran Guang said, opening the door.

Standing outside was a lean man with dark skin, accompanied by a black wolf-dog.

Upon seeing them emerge, the wolf-dog wagged its tail, clearly recognizing both Ran Lei and Ayang.

Ran Guang imparted a few final instructions before observing the trio – two people and one wolf-dog – melt away into the dense jungle.
