"BOOOOOOO000000000000000000000MMMMMMMMM
MM!"
A tremendous purple explosion swallowed Cain's form entirely-and kept expanding. The blast rippled outward in a destructive surge, devouring numerous structures as it tore through the shadowy metropolis, igniting whole neighborhoods in flames. Skyscrapers tumbled down, roads cracked apart, and the darkness of night appeared to burst into fire under the overwhelming force of the strike.
This strike held enough might to reduce a typical Late Alpha-Omega Overgod to cinders.
That's precisely why the Curse Eaters halted in stunned silence.
Out of the blazing chaos, the Scarlet King emerged.
The left half of Cain's body was utterly devoured. Skin and tissue had vanished, exposing bare bone-yet that bone stayed intact, shining subtly within the firestorm. Violet flames raced across his body as the Samsara Rebirth Set's power kicked in, rebuilding the destroyed parts. Vital organs reshaped themselves. Flesh grew back. Skin sealed over shortly thereafter.
Sozing's brow furrowed intensely as he observed the scene.
"He was meant to be tough," he grumbled, his tone thick with incredulity. "But this... this defies reason. Flattening a whole Empyrean World would've taken less effort than breaking down a physique like his."
Nevertheless, the strike hadn't been pointless.
A keen glint sparked in the gazes of Sozing and Bako alike when they spotted a key detail-the violet flames faltered. The healing of Cain's limbs dragged on, the rebuilding of his digits clearly stalling. For the first time ever, the Scarlet King's supreme healing prowess displayed clear signs of faltering.
Cain looked down at his limb, observing how the last digits required
extra time to reshape. A grave gleam danced in his eyes.
The field of combat paused briefly.
Cain raised his sight from the Curse Eaters and turned it skyward. Over the ruined urban sprawl, lightning still thundered outside the barrier, fierce and unyielding.
"I have to admit," Cain stated evenly, his words resonating amid the ruin, "I respect your courage. Coming here solely to end me- fully aware that your own end will follow."
Sozing's eyes expanded a fraction.
Before he could refute it, Cain pressed on.
"The lightning outside the barrier-that's the Will of the Universe. It's furious. You and yours are viewed as mortal foes, your core woven into this universe's very fabric. That lets it unleash its full might against you."
A faint grin curved Cain's lips as the truth fully dawned on him.
"That's why you seldom show your real shapes," he went on. "And even then, you depend on masks or hosts that curb your strength. The instant you step into the Nine Empyrean Suns Universe, the cosmos unleashes nonstop calamities to wipe you out."
Sozing balled his hands into tight fists.
A chilling dread began to seep into his core. The more he confronted Cain, the clearer it became how nightmarish the Scarlet King really was-and the immense danger he represented to all Curse Eaters.
Yet Sozing held his cool.
He grinned instead.
"I'm relieved it fell to me," he whispered. "The rest might've lacked the power-but I'll pull it off."
Cain locked eyes with him and inclined his head.
"You're worthy of respect," he answered. "I'll ensure your mind shatters the second it reaches my throne, sparing you needless agony."
The energies of the Scarlet King and the Curse Eaters from the Tenth Empyrean World flared wildly, rising ever higher as they geared up for the battle's next stage-one destined to be short, but staggeringly cataclysmic.
"BOOOOOOM!"
"BOOM!"
"BOOOOOOOOOOM!"
Blast after blast reverberated across the gloomy city. Structures tougher than standard Alpha-Omega Overgod artifacts crumbled to pieces as three streaks darted over the combat zone.
Cain contorted his spine at an unbelievable angle, barely evading the sword crafted from Bako's limb. He retaliated without delay, sweeping his bare left palm and unleashing a sea of unseen slices laced with Zero-State Force.
Those cuts could slice through almost everything in existence.
But Bako withstood them.
Not one strike pierced his core organs. His form morphed, adjusted yet again, canceling the harm before it turned deadly.
Cain's gaze sharpened, though his concentration stayed firm.
In the nick of time, he spun once more, seizing Sozing's arm
and yanking the human Curse Eater's grip skyward right as a burst of repelling energy erupted. In that same instant, Cain slammed a savage boot into Sozing's gut, hurling him far away.
For one fleeting second, Cain and Bako faced off solo.
They collided right away.
The Scarlet King and the colossal Curse Eater traded strikes at
alarming velocity, their limbs a blur as endless shockwaves burst nearby. The combat ground fractured and twisted under the impact
of their clash.
Suddenly, Cain's eyes blazed.
A golden radiance erupted, rivaling the crimson shine of the Power of Chaos.
The first and second fingers of each hand thrust ahead with dazzling quickness, hitting twenty-three exact spots on Bako's
frame.
Bako stiffened.
A split second afterward, every one of those twenty-three spots blew up at once.
The Flow Art rampaged inside Bako, ripping through his vitals as twenty-three of his Thirty-Three Stars burst together. His enormous body quaked fiercely, teetering on the edge of ruin.
Cain wasted no time.
But right as he lunged for the killing strike, a pulling force grabbed his frame, smashing him down to the earth.
Cain gritted his teeth while twisting his neck.
Sozing loomed afar, crimson leaking from his eyes, arms outstretched and shaking as he pinned Cain with raw power. Simultaneously, Bako bellowed, funneling all his endured pain into his limb weapon anew.
The visages on the limb shone intensely.
It targeted Cain.
And unleashed.
Cain's eyes grew wide as he grasped his immobility.
"I can't recover from another hit this intense."
The pressing shadow of doom pushed Cain's strength past its bounds. The golden light of the Flow outshone the crimson of Chaos itself-if only briefly. Then, just before the weapon could connect-
A whirlpool formed within Cain's left eye.
