Victor and Varakos were shocked to see the Saintess alive. The knights prepared for battle against the demon invaders. A colossal Blightheart Colossus erupted from the ground, throwing the camp into chaos. Achilles fought Varakos, while Cassian battled enhanced demons. Victor observed his creations, only to be suddenly attacked.

"Tch!"

Victor twisted his body at the final moment, preventing the blade from cutting deeper. The Stigma around his neck immediately illuminated. Demonic energy flooded into the wound, rapidly healing and closing the flesh.

At the same time, with the activation of his [Stigma], the right side of Victor’s body distorted. Black demonic flesh spread over his arm and shoulder, forming a monstrous claw covered in strange markings.

After stabilizing his body, he slowly turned around and looked at his assailant.

"You are..."

At that moment, his expression changed.

A woman stood several meters away. She wore a tight black leather suit that moved naturally with her slender frame. Her hair was as dark as ink, with faint green highlights running through it. Two emerald daggers rested in her hands.

Her beautiful face carried no warmth. Only coldness. Like a flower whose petals concealed deadly thorns.

Victor didn’t care about her appearance. Superficial things like beauty could not sway him. His eyes were fixed on her back. More precisely... the mark between her shoulder blades.

His eyes widened.

"Demonic Markings?"

For the first time, genuine surprise appeared on his face.

"You... You are one of my subjects?"

He stared at the woman. He couldn’t believe it. After all these years, one of his experimental subjects had actually survived.

But then why was she attacking him?

Victor raised his hand.

"Obey."

The Stigma around his neck glowed. A powerful force immediately spread toward the woman, causing the markings on her back to glow.

But that’s all. Nothing else happened.

Seeing this, Victor froze for a moment.

The woman’s eyes remained completely cold.

"How can that..."

Before he could speak, the woman standing in front of him disappeared.

At the same time, he felt piercing coldness assaulting his body.

Green light streaked across the battlefield, its speed so fast that it was like a blur.

Victor’s expression changed. Activating the power of the [Stigma], he immediately turned around and threw a punch.

BOOM...

His demonic arm collided with two green daggers. The force of the impact pulverized the ground beneath them.

The woman was pushed backward and landed lightly several meters away, easily neutralizing the impact.

Victor stared at her for a good while. His iconic smile returned to him once again.

He pushed his monocle forward, his eyes shining with excitement.

"I see now, so that’s what happened. You eroded the command authority contained within the marking."

The woman did not reply. Her black hair slowly lifted. Demonic energy mixed with green light began flowing around her body. The demonic markings spread across her skin, forming an intricate pattern.

Victor’s smile widened.

"And you have even mastered it."

He looked genuinely fascinated.

"Excellent. Very good."

Saying that, he extended his hand.

"Join me."

The woman still didn’t respond.

"You have seen how powerful the Demon Markings can be. I can give you more power than anyone ever could. Your body, your Stigma... everything about you can be perfected."

Victor looked Karina up and down as if she was very precious material.

"A specimen capable of reaching this level with just the failed Demon Markings... There is none like you even in the Organization."

He had experimented on tens of thousands of subjects. If not, hundreds of thousands. His infamy as the world’s greatest criminal was not without any substance. To achieve his goals, he left no taboo untouched.

Yet among all his experimental subjects, none could reach the perfection the woman in front of him displayed.

He wanted to dissect her. Study her. Understand how she had achieved something even his greatest experiments had struggled to accomplish.

"I say again, swear loyalty to me. And in return, I will give you more power."

Still silence.

In response, the woman only raised her daggers.

"You refuse?"

Victor frowned.

"Can you tell me why?"

"Reinhardt is my master."

The woman spoke in a cold voice. Perhaps annoyed, or maybe she realized this person would not give up easily, she finally could not help but respond.

"He saved me. In this life, he is the only person I will serve."

Victor’s expression didn’t change. Instead, he chuckled.

"Reinhardt? You mean that golden-haired Divine Paladin?"

Recalling the golden-haired hero whom he had heard a lot about, his smile became contemptuous.

"You mean that guy who fled from the battlefield?"

Over these days of decisive battle, the Divine Paladin was nowhere to be seen, causing some demons to speculate that he had run away. Only for him to return once again.

No matter, the arrival of another hero did not change the outcome.

"What is the point of serving humanity? Those foolish humans are destined to fall. Their ideals, their morality, their pathetic sense of justice... all of it will eventually be crushed."

He clenched his hand into a fist.

"Even your master, that Divine Paladin, will fall. Why don’t you join us? You already possess Demonic Markings. With my help, you could..."

Before he could complete.

"Silence."

Karina interrupted. Her usually impassive eyes had become colder.

"Lord Reinhardt is my master. I will not let anyone badmouth him. And I will never join you."

She lowered her body slightly. A faint green light appeared around her daggers. Her gaze sharpened.

"I came here to kill you."

There was no room for negotiation.

Victor’s smile disappeared. Cold light flashed in the eyes behind the monocle.

Flash...

Karina moved. She appeared directly before him.

Victor raised his claw.

CLANG...

The first dagger struck, bursting into sparks. Then the second.

Karina’s movements were fast and elusive, barely giving one time to respond.

One blade suddenly curved. The green aura surrounding it twisted into the shape of a venomous serpent. Then the second did the same.

Two emerald vipers lunged toward Victor.

Danger...

Victor’s expression finally became serious.

"Interesting. Even in the partial state, it seems like you can threaten me. In that case, I’ll get a little more serious. Allow me to see how much of the Demonic Marking’s strength you can utilize."

Right as he said that...

BOOM...

Demonic energy erupted from his body. His transformation advanced further. Black flesh spread across his torso, his shoulders widened, and from his back...

Two enormous demonic wings suddenly burst outward.

Victor shot into the sky.

The twin green serpents followed, their fangs snapped shut beneath him.

BANG...

With a punch, he destroyed the serpents.

Back at the center of the human camp, a fierce battle had already begun.

It had to be said that having a Hero on the battlefield and not having one made an enormous difference. The numerous buffs granted by the Heroes’ titles alone were enough to make the strength of ordinary knights soar. For those below the rank of Extreme Knight, the difference was almost like heaven and earth.

Although the buffs did not have much effect on Extreme Knights themselves, the improvement among the countless ordinary knights was more than enough to influence the entire battlefield.

Overall, the knights had gained a slight advantage. But only slightly.

Varakos and the demons under his command were far from weak. Adding the Stigma-enhanced demons created by the Organization into the equation, their combined strength was more than enough to overwhelm the camp, especially when most of the powerful knights had already left to attack the demon encampment.

And then there was the Blightheart Colossus.

That Abomination moved freely across the battlefield, completely unchallenged. No knight present possessed the power to stop it.

Wherever it passed, the earth blackened and withered. Grass shriveled, trees rotted, and even the purified soil slowly became corrupted beneath its monstrous body.

Meanwhile, as the battle raged outside, another scene was unfolding near the center of the human camp.

Vanessa arrived at an open area where a massive, complex magic array had been engraved into the ground. At its very center was a circular formation roughly one meter wide.

From there, countless lines extended outward like the roots of a gigantic tree, connecting the central array to several points scattered throughout the camp.

At each of those points was another smaller array. And at the center of every one of them was a branch of the World Tree.

These branches had been carefully planted into the earth, their roots intertwined with the magic formations.

A vast amount of concentrated divine energy continuously leaked from them, bathing the surrounding land in a faint golden radiance.

Back at the camp, Vanessa stepped into the central formation. Standing in the middle, she closed her eyes, clasped her hands, and began praying.

Brilliant holy energy erupted from her body and spread through the array, causing it to come alive.

The entire array trembled. One line after another began glowing.

The light spread from the central formation, traveling through the carved lines before reaching every branch of the World Tree.

Then, as if a switch had been activated...

BOOM...

Pillars of golden light erupted from every World Tree branch simultaneously. They shot into the sky, piercing through the dark clouds before spreading outward.

One pillar connected with another. Then another.

Countless threads of golden light intertwined high above the camp, forming an enormous dome that slowly descended over the entire battlefield.
