Calypso opened her mouth to scream ’teleport’ again, but a Bengari warrior suddenly appeared in front of her and grabbed her around the neck before throwing her back against the wall!

"GAH!"

Calypso let out a loud scream as she felt a surge of pain travel through her body! Calypso’s eyes were wide in fear as she stared at the Bengari, and Calypso looked behind the woman to see Jason sitting on a couch on the other side of the room. Jason was leaning forward with his elbows resting on his knees, and he was looking at Calypso with an emotionless gaze that sent a surge of fear through her body! Calypso could feel her heart beating like a drum in her chest as she struggled pointlessly against the Bengari warrior! Jason didn’t say a single word to Calypso, but just from the look in his eyes, Calypso could tell that Jason was furious! If she didn’t do something, Jason was going to kill her! Calypso immediately spoke up!

"Don’t kill me! My lord, this is all a big misunderstanding! I didn’t do anything to your man; it was somebody with no relation to our group! We just picked him up during our travels! I’ll find him, my lord! I’ll find him and bring him to you! I promise! He’ll pay for what he did!"

Calypso was begging for her life, but Jason still said nothing. The hand around Calypso’s neck tightened, and Calypso gasped as she screamed!

"I’ll do anything, my lord! Anything! Do you want the mercenary group!? We’ll serve you forever! Our group is the strongest mercenary organisation in this domain! We’ll all become your servants, and we’ll become your spies! I-I’ll even become your sex slave! Yes, your sex slave! I’m very confident in my skill, my lord! I can do things for you that no other woman can even think about! I’ll use everything to please you! Just don’t kill me!"

At this point, Calypso was using every single card she had to try and beg for her life! Calypso was no stranger to using her body to get what she wanted. She had slept with many men just to get information from them or to make them let down their guard so she could kill them. When it came to the art of pleasure, Calypso was one of the most experienced women in any world! But Calypso felt the hope in her heart drop even more when Jason still didn’t react to her words! Jason finally let out a breath as he stood up calmly, and Calypso felt slightly hopeful that Jason was going to accept her offer, but Jason’s next words crushed all of her hope immediately!

"I’ve been trying to think of what your end goal would be after taking the [Mortal Severance Pill]. You aren’t a mortal anymore, so something like that wouldn’t be useful for you, and as a mercenary, I don’t think you care about military power. That means the only thing you could’ve been planning is to sell it to someone. And since you were so desperate to get it, you must’ve already gotten yourself a buyer. Isn’t that right?"

Jason had one hand in his pocket as he spoke, and his brows were furrowed in slight curiosity. But the look on Calypso’s face was one of absolute shock! From the moment Calypso heard the term [Mortal Severance Pill], she knew exactly what Jason was talking about! The rumors about a pill that could help someone advance through the ranks were actually true! And it was really inside the Academy! Calypso felt anger filling her heart! This was all that foolish headmaster’s fault! If she had simply forced her way into the academy, then she might have gotten the pill and escaped before Jason ever got here! That bastard prevented her from getting what she wanted, and that was why she ended up in this situation!

It was true that Calypso planned to sell the pill to someone, and she had already gotten herself a buyer, but Calypso couldn’t say that to Jason when she was in a situation like this! Calypso spoke up quickly!

"No, my lord! You’re wrong! I didn’t know what was in the academy! I only heard rumors about a pill that makes people stronger, and I wanted to get it for myself! That was all! If I knew you were interested in it, I would’ve never tried to claim it! I won’t ever go looking for it again! I swear!"

Jason gave Calypso a blank stare, and it was obvious that he didn’t believe a word she said! Calypso easily noticed the disbelief in Jason’s gaze, and she shouted!

"Why won’t you believe me!? I didn’t do anything wrong! Just give me a chance to prove myself to you. I’ll serve you forever! I’ll do whatever you want! I swear it!"

Jason let out a calm breath, and he walked towards the window to take a look at the massive battle going on outside. The Legion had already gained the upper hand in the fight, and it wouldn’t be long before the Jamani were eradicated. Jason spoke up.

"I don’t think you’re understanding something here, Calypso. I don’t need your cooperation. Well, at least I don’t need the cooperation of your mortal body. I was bored, so I simply spoke to you to pass the time. Since you refuse to give me what I need while you’re alive, I’ll simply get it from your resurrected soul."

Jason turned to look at Calypso with a kind smile, and Calypso’s eyes widened as the Bengari pulled out a long sword!

"Wait! Don’t do this! You won’t get away with this! I have friends! Lots of friends in high places that won’t stand for this! If you kill me, you’ll be hunted down to the end of the Primordial Expanse! Do you hear me!? I have allies in the Primordial Realm! Primordials! They’ll never let you – URK!"

SQUELCH!

The Bengari tightened her hold on Calypso’s neck before her sword sank into her chest and pinned her to the wall! Calypso’s eyes widened as she felt a sharp pain spread through her body, and an image of a young girl laughing happily flashed through her mind. A sudden clarity appeared in Calypso’s gaze, like she had suddenly remembered what it was that she had been fighting for all this time, and a tear fell from her eye! Calypso gave Jason one last miserable look filled with regret before her eyes slowly rolled to the back of her head and she died.

Jason was still looking out the window to watch the battle happening in the courtyard below, and he felt his subordinate activating [Remote Resurrection] to pull Calypso’s soul from her body. Even though Calypso was very strong-willed, she had a great desire to live, so when the subordinate tried to bring her out, Calypso didn’t resist at all, and her soul immediately rose from her body and fell to one knee beside Jason.

’My King.’

Calypso bowed her head to Jason in reverence, and Jason finally turned around to look at her calmly. Now that she was loyal to him, Jason immediately told Calypso to reveal all the information about her involvement with the [Mortal Severance Pill] as well as who she was planning to sell it to, and Calypso did just that.
