Calypso spoke up quickly.
’I received the information about the pill from an informant of mine who has contacts within the Northern Alliance Academy. I did not receive all the information on what the pill was capable of, but according to my contact, the pill has the ability to revolutionize any world and raise it from a Rank II to a Rank III world.’
Jason hummed.
"And who did you plan to sell it to?"
’I was contacted by an Eternal Wanderer whose mage client wanted to purchase the pills. I have never met with this mage before, but they were willing to pay billions of gold coins if I helped them retrieve it.’
Jason looked at Calypso in surprise, and he spoke up with an amused smile on his face.
"So, you don’t actually have any contact with the buyer?"
’No, my king. I can only contact them through the Eternal Wanderers.’
"And what about your claim to know powerful people?"
Calypso was silent for a few seconds as she felt ashamed of her lies, but she eventually spoke up.
’I also lied about that, my king. The most powerful people I know are members of royalty in distant worlds who had employed my mercenary group at one point or another. None of them would be capable of standing before your radiance. The rest of my allies are members of high society whose alliances I have gained with financial or sexual favours. I am a mercenary, so I am sure they will not care even if they heard that I was killed.’
Jason huffed slightly when he heard this, and even though he was amused by the story, he couldn’t help but be impressed by Calypso’s ability to lie! In the moment before she died, Calypso had spat out more than ten different lies in quick succession, and even though Jason was able to see through some of them, there were others that Jason hadn’t seen through at all! The only reason Jason killed Calypso was because he knew he could scan her memories after resurrecting her! If Jason didn’t have this ability, he might’ve kept her alive for a while longer since it was hard to know what was true or not!
Jason eventually waved Calypso and the Bengari woman away.
"Go and help the others with cleaning the castle. Tell them to gather all the artefacts and gold from the treasury, and take Prince Makin and the members of his court to a room to wait for me. I’ll come see them when I’m done dealing with this."
The two subordinates bowed to Jason respectfully, and they immediately sank into the shadows and went to do as they were told.
At this point, the Jamani mercenaries had been reduced to barely five hundred! Many of them were running for the hills to try and escape the Legion, but they weren’t able to go far before they slammed their faces against the shield blocking anyone from leaving! The Legion chased down the runners, and Jason watched as they were killed.
’My King, the injured superhuman is in stable condition. His life is no longer at risk.’
One of the Bishop Rank subordinates in Jason’s Legion who had been working on the superhuman that was stabbed sent Jason a message, and Jason hummed in response. Jason really didn’t like the idea of losing a member of his team, so he was glad his subordinates could help him! Now, all Jason needed was to find the man who ran away!
The last thing Jason remembered was seeing the man melt into the wall and vanish before the subordinate could get to him, and for some reason, they hadn’t been able to find him all this time. Jason frowned as he turned away from the window and began walking out of the room. There was a Bengari warrior walking down the hallway with a bloody sword, but the moment she saw Jason, she smiled happily and bowed to him. Jason smiled back, and he patted her on the head kindly before he kept walking and told her to keep up the good work.
’Thank you, my king!’
The Bengari exclaimed, and Jason waved as he turned the corner. Jason knew it was only a matter of time before he found the man. This entire region had been closed down using the magic shield, so there was no way he could run away. Even if Jason needed to search every corner of this castle, he would happily do it. Jason wanted to look the man in the eye and ask him what gave him the audacity to stab a member of a Sovereign world.
Jason walked until he got to a large room in the castle with multiple chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. There was a stage to one side of the room, and Jason immediately guessed that this was the ballroom used to entertain guests during parties. There were a few dead bodies on the floor with blood splattered across the walls, but none of Jason’s subordinates were here. The moment Jason entered the room, he stopped and turned to his left.
"M-My lord, is that you?"
Jason blinked as he saw a pretty woman sitting on the floor with dead bodies around her. She was wearing a maid’s gown, but her clothes were torn, and she had an injury on her stomach that was bleeding. The woman sniffled as she pressed a hand to the bleeding stomach.
"I-I was injured. Please, help me."
Jason just watched the maid for a few seconds before he said:
"Is that really the best you can do?"
There was a beat of silence that went through the room before the woman’s face split into a nasty smile! The woman slowly stood from the ground as her body began to change, and it didn’t take two seconds before Jason was standing in front of the mysterious shapeshifting man that killed the superhuman. The man began to clap with a wide smile!
Clap! Clap! Clap!
"Would you look at that! I suppose living in that hopeless world called Earth hasn’t made you as foolish as the rest of the humans! Hahaha! A lion is still a lion, after all!"
The man had a mocking tone in his voice, like he was talking to a dog that had just done a party trick and he was praising it for being so smart. Jason narrowed his eyes as he finally got a chance to study the man properly. The man was well built and tall, and just from his figure, Jason could tell that he was used to being on the battlefield. His dark hair came down to his shoulders, and he had dark eyes that constantly danced with amusement! But the thing that surprised Jason most of all was when he felt the man’s magic essence!
"Avaran."
Jason’s brow furrowed in shock, and the man’s smile widened when he heard this! Jason realised that this man was an Avaran as well! But unlike Jason and his other siblings, who had the Avaran Essence mixed in with the Essence of their mother’s race, this man was a pure blood. He was a hundred percent Avaran! That meant he was one of the survivors who escaped after Avaran was destroyed!
"Who the hell are you?"
Jason asked this with narrowed eyes, and the man laughed as he spread his hands out!
"How fitting that a member of the royal family would not know the name of this lowly servant. I simply wished to come and see the fated Prince for myself, and from what I can see, you must’ve lived a very good life on Earth. You and that traitor you call a father."
Jason’s hand tightened immediately, and the man chuckled when he saw annoyance flash across Jason’s eyes!
