Jason returns to Texas to visit Gina's family, causing a stir among civilians and his relatives due to his newfound fame and intimidating aura. While Hesabeth and Riyala are unable to join them due to pressing duties, Jason and Gina arrive at her family's ranch and are greeted by relatives, including Gina's enthusiastic younger cousin, Fio.

With a tender smile, Gina stroked Fio’s hair before gesturing towards Jason, who was standing nearby. “I believe you’ve forgotten to greet someone,” she remarked.

Fio spun around, a gasp escaping her lips as she registered the imposing aura emanating from Jason. She instinctively took a step back, but Gina gently nudged her forward, chiding her for staring. Fio’s cheeks flushed as she lowered her gaze to her sandals. “H-Hello, Jason. It’s been a rather long time,” she managed.

Jason reached out, ruffling Fio’s hair with a grin. “Hey, Fio. I hope you’re not giving your parents too much grief.”

“Wha-?!? Gina, I never do that!” Fio exclaimed. Jason simply chuckled, and Fio’s face darkened with embarrassment as she scurried into Gina’s embrace.

“Gina, are you certain that’s Jason? He looks so different now,” one of the girls murmured. “I don’t even know what to say to him anymore; he’s like a completely new person,” another chimed in.

“Indeed, but what could have caused such a drastic transformation?”

“Does it even matter? He’s incredibly attractive.”

“Gina would have your head if she heard that. Be careful. But you are right, he is quite handsome.”

The teenagers observed Jason’s interactions with the family members from the sidelines, their gazes sharp. Many of the boys who had known Jason previously felt a sense of unease, struck by the profound changes they witnessed. Jason’s entire demeanor and appearance had undergone a dramatic shift, making him seem like a stranger. Meanwhile, the girls couldn't help but be captivated by his newfound magnetism. Jason had always been good-looking, but the hardships he’d faced had imbued him with a rugged charm that was utterly irresistible.

He was clad in simple trousers, a shirt, and black boots, his long hair tied back in a ponytail. The sleeves of his shirt were rolled to his elbows, allowing for unrestricted movement. The sight of his exposed forearms had a few of the girls on the verge of swooning.

“I wish he’d just pin me down and do as he pleases,” one of the older girls, a striking young woman named Darcy, confessed with a suggestive smile. The other girls giggled in agreement. Since Jason was only distantly related to them through Gina, they felt no qualms about openly admiring him, and any one of them would seize the opportunity if it arose.

“Hello, everyone,” a voice interrupted their reverie. Gina approached with a smile, greeting her cousins warmly. The girls nervously returned the greeting, their smiles tight. Despite Gina’s pleasant demeanor, an almost suffocating pressure emanated from her, which the girls suspected was a deliberate warning. Most of them huddled behind Darcy, their unofficial leader. Darcy nervously chuckled, “You look lovely, Gina. D-did you do something with your hair? It seems to have grown.”

Darcy attempted to diffuse the tension, but she was taken aback when Gina pulled her into a hug. Darcy’s face paled as Gina whispered into her ear in a voice like silk, “I don’t care if you’re my cousin. If you touch him, I will end you.”

Darcy swallowed hard, a tremor of fear running through her. Gina then stepped back, her smile as sweet as ever, and proceeded to greet the rest of her family. Gina had heard tales of Darcy’s promiscuity from her parents – how she changed romantic partners as easily as changing clothes. Darcy was the type to pursue any man without a second thought, and Gina felt a surge of disgust at the presumption that Darcy even stood a chance with Jason. When Jason eventually approached Darcy and the other girls moments later, he was surprised to see Darcy hastily making an excuse and fleeing from him.

The rounds of greetings continued for several minutes, given the sheer number of relatives in the Fey family. Soon, however, the grills were fired up, drinks were brought out, and tables were arranged in the yard for the picnic. Mira and Bett had taken charge of the kitchen, busily preparing the food while sharing laughter and gossip with the other wives. Gina found herself surrounded by cousins eager to hear about her adventures with Jason and the status of their relationship. Jason, meanwhile, stood by the large outdoor grill with Gina’s father and uncles. Gina’s father had purchased a new grill specifically for this occasion, and the men admired it as if it were a prized artifact. One of them whistled appreciatively. “Now that’s a fine-looking grill. Jason, you take charge of it.” Jason blinked. “Huh?”

Jonas guffawed, clapping Jason heartily on the back.

"Indeed, Leroy speaks the truth! It's a traditional trial for the Fey males to command the family grill during picnics! My own brothers all undertook this duty, and as you are now one of our own, you must as well! You've reached eighteen years, haven't you? Here, take this beer and don the apron! We are all observing your efforts, so fear not any missteps! Simply revel in the experience!"

Jonas procured a vibrant pink apron emblazoned with 'Kiss the Chef.' Jason visibly recoiled from the garish garment! Despite his attempt to decline, Jason found himself unable to protest as his future in-laws chuckled, encouraging him to don the apron. With a resigned laugh, Jason complied. He rolled his sleeves higher, fastened the apron, and grasped a spatula! The grill, already searing hot, received the seasoned meat immediately. Jason discovered himself skillfully tending the barbecue while engaging in trivial conversations with the other men. Ordinarily, at eighteen, Jason would have been relegated to the company of younger teenagers. However, his social standing and mature demeanor made the younger boys feel intimidated in his presence, compelling Jason to remain with the elder gentlemen.

"By the gods, this is magnificent! Jonas, your soon-to-be son-in-law is an exceptional cook!"

"Indeed, Leroy's assessment is spot on! This is superb!"

"Allow me a taste!"

"Hold, do not consume it all! Reserve some for the ladies – Astonishing, this is exquisite!"

The men were utterly astonished by the taste of Jason's grilled offerings, realizing its exceptional quality! Jason, once a professional chef at his mother's establishment, had prepared countless meat patties daily, rendering grilling a trivial skill for him.

A melodious female laugh drifted from the main entrance. Jason looked up to see Gina emerging from the house, accompanied by several young women, all observing him with shy amusement. A noticeable flush graced Gina's cheeks as she listened to a younger girl's remark, her gaze fixated on Jason and the apron he wore. This pink apron represented a generations-old family tradition for Gina's kin, and Jason wearing it signaled his full acceptance by Gina's father and uncles. He presented the image of an ideal husband, an image Gina found undeniably alluring. Noticing Gina's prolonged stare, Jason offered a playful wink and a grin, taking a swig of beer!

"Ooooouuuu~! "

The accompanying girls erupted in teasing sounds directed at Gina upon witnessing the exchange. Gina's blush deepened, and she swiftly moved to assist others in arranging the remainder of the picnic arrangements.
