Strongest Necromancer System Chapter 746: Wind Snake Spirit

Instinctively, Gina checked her mana reserves to gauge how much remained, nearly laughing out loud when she realized she hadn't spent a single drop of mana yet. Only a day had passed since she became a Sage, making the notion of spellcasting without mana expenditure feel utterly alien to her!
"You'll grow accustomed to that sensation in time. I checked my mana constantly too when I first turned Sage, but after weeks without drawing on it, I finally kicked the habit. Still, at your current stage, stay vigilant with those heavier spells. Certain ones drain mana even from Sages, so watch your levels closely until you've fully conquered Sagehood."
Farlow delivered these words while approaching Gina, who responded with a warm smile. He'd already navigated every challenge Gina now faced as a Sage, offering her pointers on wielding her powers more effectively and adjusting to her new Sage status. Gina appreciated having someone to turn to for guidance on these matters, yet irritation simmered within her as memories surfaced of the infuriating Spirit partner meant to instruct her! Ulyn remained every bit the spoiled brat, denying Gina any assistance even after she stepped into the forest! As Farlow had noted, the connection between a Spirit and its contractor shaped the might of a Spirit Arts practitioner's abilities. Gina's Spirit Arts advancement sat at a pitiful 2%, plainly because Ulyn flat-out refused to bond with her!
'Perhaps I could request a different spirit? No, that's impossible. The Queen generously granted me Ulyn, so demanding a replacement would be too presumptuous.'
Gina sensed the surrounding Spirit Energy and pivoted toward it, pointing ahead before she and Farlow resumed their advance. Spirit Energy represented the vital essence trails left by Spirits and Spirit Arts users alike, detectable solely by fellow Spirit Arts practitioners. Despite Ulyn's refusal to assist, Gina's status as a Spirit Arts user granted her the power to detect these ethereal remnants from passing spirits, positioning her as their journey's guide—and she knew they neared the forest's heart! The monsters encountered so far ranged from S to SSS Rank, effortlessly dispatched by the duo's TITAN Rank prowess, but ahead lay spirits, far trickier foes as innate Sages who drew upon the world's ambient mana. Gina and Farlow traveled quietly for several minutes until Gina broke the silence with a query.
"Actually, I've been curious... Do all nature spirits resemble fairies?"
Gina glanced at Farlow with interest, but he simply shook his head and explained:
"Fairies hold the supreme dominion among spirits. Wind fairies command wind's authority, fire fairies master fire's, while earth, water, and lightning fairies govern their respective domains too. Nature spirits, however, adopt forms according to their whims. Most I've encountered mimic animals, though some choose elven or human shapes. 'Spirit' merely labels the being—their appearances vary endlessly."
Gina nodded thoughtfully to Farlow's explanation, poised to reply further, but a abrupt pressure surged from nearby! She yelled for Farlow to evade, and both leaped aside as a colossal wind arrow cratered their former spot, carving a deep scar into the earth! Gina whipped toward the source, eyes bulging at the enormous serpent glaring down from the treetops! Its body wound around two trees several times over, forcing Gina to crane her neck just to glimpse its head!
"A wind-snake spirit."
Farlow uttered in wonder, gazing at the behemoth, as Gina's eyes sharpened. The serpent's pure white gaze fixed on them, baring arm-length fangs with a venomous hiss! Gina surged her Spirit Energy, detecting its TITAN Rank I strength at minimum! They could handle it!
HISSS!!
Enraged, the serpent hissed at her, and Gina summoned wind arrows at her flanks while barking at Farlow!
"Go! Create an opening for me!"
Farlow charged without hesitation, the snake whipping its tail to unleash a gigantic wind blade that nearly bisected him! With Sage might, Farlow parried the blade effortlessly, then hurled a wind orb at the snake's skull!
SLAM!
The orb battered the snake's head aside, drawing an furious hiss as it lunged anew at Farlow! Though a Sage and among the world's elite wind wielders, Farlow had avoided this forest's perils for good reason—spirits proved notoriously hard to slay! Despite his superiority, his strikes barely scratched it, stemming from his lack of Spirit Arts affinity! Even among Sages, Spirit Arts users boasted profound nature ties, with only fellow spirits or contracted Spirit Arts practitioners capable of inflicting true devastation on a spirit!
BOOM!
Farlow dodged swiftly as the serpent's head pulverized his prior position, enveloping himself in wind to rocket skyward as it pursued! A barrage of wind blades sought his life, all deftly sidestepped, until a cry rang out behind!
"MOVE!"
Gina's hand extended like a razor as she barreled toward the leviathan, and the instant Farlow cleared, she thrust forward her mightiest wind blade!
SLASH!
The monstrous serpent exuded lethal menace, yet its vast bulk offered ample target area, enabling Gina to sever its head clean off in one strike! Instantly bisected, the giant crumpled, and Gina exhaled sharply upon landing meters distant!
