Jason agreed to Valeria's important mission. He then noticed two mercenaries entering the bar, revealing they were trackers sent by Malovena. Jason had anticipated this, having placed subordinates to monitor Malovena after her earlier attempt to recruit Valeria. Meanwhile, Malovena's powerful mercenary ship, the Red Skin, arrived at the docking station, its captain intent on revenge against Jason for the humiliation she suffered.

Two of Malovena’s men had already been tracking the hooded man all the way from the first domain, and from the latest message that she received through the magical communicator, Malovena knew that the hooded man was in the Mercenary Bar. This was good. Malovena was a regular there, so she knew that area like the back of her hand, and Malovena wouldn’t have any problems taking care of that man once she got him into a hidden area.

As far as Malovena knew right now, the man had no idea that he was being followed, so even though Malovena knew that the man was around the same power level as her, she only had to catch him off guard, and he wouldn’t stand a chance against her! Malovena produced an artefact from her belt as she moved away from her crew and went to a secluded region of the docking station, and once Malovena held the artefact in her hand, her body vanished from sight as she turned invisible. The rest of her crew continued to make their way towards the Mercenary Bar, and Malovena followed after them at a calmer pace, so no one would be able to tell that she was there.

The artefact that Malovena had used was called the [Chameleon Cloak]. It was a TITAN Rank Artefact that allowed the wearer to completely vanish from every form of physical, magical, or sensory detection! The wearer’s magic, smell, and even their steps would vanish! Even the best TITAN Rank sensors wouldn’t be able to tell that there was someone there! The only way you could tell that someone was standing behind the other Mercenaries was if you reached out and touched Malovena, but with how much everyone feared the Red Skins, there was no one stupid enough to come close to them!

Malovena spoke to her crew members through the comms.

"I’ll be heading towards the loading docks behind the bar. Bring him outside, and I’ll take care of things."

One of Malovena’s crew members, a young man who had dark skin and elf ears, spoke up calmly.

"What about Valeria? She might recognise us."

Malovena answered with a frown.

"If she proves difficult, then bring her with him. I’ve shown her too much kindness by allowing her to constantly refuse me; that’s why she dared to become so rebellious. I think it’s about time that she understands the sort of opportunity I’ve given her."

The rest of the crew accepted Malovena’s orders, and they went straight ahead into the Mercenary Bar.

Ka-cha!

The sound of the door opening drew the attention of multiple mercenaries, and they all glanced towards the entrance to see the people standing there. And once they saw the people who were entering, they all broke out in murmurs!

"It’s the Red Skins!"

"What the hell are they doing here?! Aren’t they working in the second domain right now?"

"Man, I’ve wanted to join them forever. I heard they only invite the best."

"Where’s Malovena, though?"

The mercenaries at the bar were all shooting glances at the Red Skins. Out of all the Mercenaries in the Primordial Expanse, the Red Skins were some of the most well-known. Although the Red Skins weren’t the most powerful mercenary group, the Red Skins had a track record that gave them a very good reputation amongst the common mercenaries. The Red Skins had taken on more than fifteen hundred missions ever since their group was formed, and they had successfully completed more than seventy percent of those missions flawlessly! When you compare this statistic to the track record of the lesser-known mercenary groups who barely manage to complete twenty percent of their missions flawlessly, you would see that the Red Skins were some of the most ruthlessly efficient mercenaries on the market today!

Once the Red Skins came in, they looked around for a bit before they finally found the table where the two members who entered earlier were sitting. The Red Skins moved towards the table, and most of them sat down patiently while the dark-skinned elf asked the two members who entered earlier where Jason was. The members pointed towards the table at the corner of the room, but they were both stunned when they looked in that direction, and they realised that Jason was no longer there!

"What? Where did he go!? He was there just a second ago."

The Red Skins were shocked when they realised that Jason’s table was now empty, and the dark-skinned elf felt an intense dread settle in his heart when he realised that Jason was trying to escape! They couldn’t let him get away! If Malovena finds out about this, she would fucking kill them!

"Find him! Go and find him right now!"

The dark elf ordered all the members out of the bar, and they all scattered as they went to try and find where Jason had gone!

....

Meanwhile, at the loading docks behind the Mercenary Bar, multiple workers were loading and unloading large cargo containers from transportation trucks parked at the side. This area was where most of the products sold in the Mercenary Bar were loaded from, and since it was in such a secluded region, it was also commonly used by mercenaries for secret meetings or exchanging illegal packages.

At one corner of the loading dock, away from the pathway, Malovena was standing calmly under the protection of her invisibility artefact. Malovena had a calm look on her face as she watched the road leading into the loading dock while anticipating the arrival of her men! Although Malovena was confident in her power, Malovena also knew that Jason was someone that she couldn’t hope to defeat without putting in a lot of effort! The fact that both she and Jason were around the same power level meant that a direct confrontation between them would definitely escalate into a massive battle that might even destroy this entire sector of the Pit!

Malovena might be a mercenary, but she wasn’t stupid, and Malovena knew that causing too many problems would draw the attention of dangerous people that she did not want to get involved with! So rather than risking a direct confrontation, Malovena decided that it was better to kill Jason using a sneak attack that would prevent him from fighting back!

To most mages, an attack like this would be seen as something cowardly, but to someone like Malovena, who had been in the mercenary world for so long, there was nothing cowardly about this! For mercenaries, the only thing that mattered was whether or not you lived to see the next day! If you survived, then it didn’t matter what you did or how you managed to preserve your life! As far as the mercenaries were concerned, there was no difference between the man who dies in the pit and the man who dies in a blaze of glory on the battlefield! Both men were dead!

So right now, as Malovena waited to ambush a man and kill him in cold blood, she felt no shame at all, and there was actually a bit of excitement in her heart as she thought about the look Jason would have on his face once she appeared from nowhere and stabbed him in the heart! Malovena still remembered how Jason behaved back in the first domain. Although she couldn’t see his face, Malovena hated the fact that such a small man dared to stand up to her at all! Jason would die, and Malovena would finally take Valeria for herself!
