The sound of a sword being grabbed echoed through the region, and a wave of silence suddenly passed over the mercenaries drinking around the dirty tavern! Tayrian shifted his gaze towards Valeria, and he saw that her left hand was now resting on her sword hilt, and she was giving him a hard look. What Tayrian was doing right now was a serious breach in the mercenary code. By trying to take Valeria’s customer away right in front of her, Tayrian would not have anything to complain about if Valeria attacked him right now!

The other members of the Vipers all put their hands on their weapons as well when they saw Valeria getting ready for an attack, but Tayrian put his hands up and stepped back with a laugh before telling everyone to calm down.

"Now, now, I was just playing. I didn’t think you’d take it so seriously, Valeria. And you three, put your weapons away. Do you really want to start a fight with Valeria of all people? You want to die?"

Tayrian quickly made his people put their weapons away as well! Even though Tayrian was confident in his ability to transport goods across the Primordial Expanse, Tayrian knew that there was no way he could hope to match Valeria in power. Valeria was one of the most powerful Mercenaries in the Primordial Expanse, and there was a reason why she was hired by so many transporters or warriors to help protect them whenever they were moving through dangerous regions! If they tried to fight her here, then they would all die!

"Leave, Tayrian. I won’t ask you again."

"Hey, is there a problem here?"

Another voice suddenly came from behind, and everyone turned to see a woman standing at the side. The woman had red skin and long black hair that was tied into a ponytail behind her, with a well-built body. The woman was nearly seven feet tall, but she had a human appearance, and if not for the colour of her skin, you would think that she was just another beautiful woman. But the moment Valeria saw the woman, her eyes narrowed in annoyance, and she immediately turned away while clicking her tongue!

The woman turned towards Valeria once she heard the click, and the woman’s eyes widened slightly before she grinned.

"Well, well, well. The great Valeria shows her face once again. I’ve been looking for you, Valeria. Have you finally given my offer some thought?"

The woman came closer to stand right beside Valeria, and Valeria only glanced at her for a moment before turning away again. The woman who appeared was named Malovena, and she was one of the most notorious mercenaries around the Primordial Expanse. She was a TITAN Rank III warrior, and she had a very powerful team and an information network made up of hundreds of mercenaries all over the Primordial Expanse. Even the Vipers standing at the side were part of Malovena’s information network, and whenever she called on them, they were obligated to answer her orders.

Malovena had been trying to get Valeria to join her mercenary group for a very long time now, and Malovena had used everything from money to power to try and lure Valeria in, but Valeria had completely turned Malovena down every single time! Valeria enjoyed working alone, and she didn’t want to be tied to any group that could control what she did or where she went!

But the main reason Valeria always turned Malovena down was because Valeria knew Malovena only wanted Valeria to join the mercenary group because Malovena was sexually attracted to Valeria. Malovena was a woman who didn’t care who she slept with. She had been with all sorts of creatures all across the Primordial Expanse, and whenever Malovena saw someone that she found attractive, she made that person become a member of her mercenary group so that she could lure them into her bed until she eventually got bored of them!

Malovena and Valeria had first met during a coup in a distant world in the third domain where they were both hired to help smuggle a prince out of the world. Malovena hadn’t seen Valeria as someone worth paying attention to at first, but after the mission went on and Malovena noticed how powerful this quiet, introverted woman was, Malovena had immediately grown an intense desire to get into bed with Valeria!

But not only was Valeria not interested in being with a woman, Valeria was also disgusted by Malovena’s attitude towards relationships, and Valeria had no intention of getting close to someone like this!

"Come now, Valeria. Are you really going to ignore me after everything we’ve been through together?"

Malovena reached out and took Valeria’s chin between her fingers, and the entire tavern seemed to rumble as Valeria stood up roughly and pulled her sword from her sheath! Multiple mercenaries around also pulled their weapons out, and even the Vipers standing at the side immediately raised their guard! The band that had been playing at the side stopped their music, and the bartenders all stopped and stared at the confrontation with curious gazes!

Malovena looked into Valeria’s eyes, and in them she saw nothing but pure rage! Valeria was looking at Malovena like Malovena was a bug on the side of the road and Valeria would happily squash her if needed!

Even though Valeria was only a TITAN Rank II and Malovena was a TITAN Rank III, Malovena knew that ranking was not enough to determine how powerful Valeria really was. Malovena had seen Valeria go toe to toe with TITAN Rank III’s before and win, so even though Malovena could defeat Valeria in a fight, Malovena knew that she would lose a lot just to achieve victory!

Malovena gave Valeria a coy smile, and she was about to speak, but another voice joined the group.

"You’re in my way. Move."

Malovena turned to the side, and she looked down to see a hooded man standing there. The hood on the man’s head seemed to be an artefact, and it prevented Malovena from seeing the man’s face. But the moment the man appeared, there was a sense of caution that came over Malovena! Malovena immediately knew that this man was unbelievably strong! Malovena didn’t know if he was stronger than her or not since she couldn’t feel his mana at all, but she was sure that he was at least as strong as she was!

"Master!"

Stella stood up from her seat and greeted Jason with a smile! Even with the hood, Stella would be able to recognise her master anywhere, and Jason turned to return Stella’s smile before he turned back to the group in front of him.

"Do we have a problem here?"

Malovena stared at the shorter man with a feeling of annoyance rising from deep inside her. But that annoyance suddenly grew into sheer hatred when Malovena turned and noticed Valeria relaxing slightly when the man appeared! And not only was Valeria relaxing, but there was a small upturn of her lip, almost like she was smiling! Who the fuck was this man that he could make Valeria have a face like that!? Malovena had known Valeria for more than ten years now, and not once had Valeria put on a face like that for anyone!

"Who are you?"

Malovena stepped closer to Jason as she asked this, and Jason hummed while looking Malovena over curiously, and then he said:

"I don’t think you want to know the answer to that question, for your own good. Now if you were going to fight, then let’s fight. But if not, then get out of here. I need to talk to my team."
