Jason learns Riyala is pregnant and will give birth in two years at the Dragon Nest. He promises to finish his mission quickly to be there for both her and Gina. Jason then travels to the Den of Thieves, a city in the first domain where mercenaries and criminals live with immunity.

In the western region of the Den of Thieves was a massive building that covered enough land space to fit an entire football field! This region had stone walls built around it, and the roof was made from a combination of stone, zinc, and fabric that looked like it would fall apart at any moment! But the people inside did not seem to care at all!

Inside of this building were hundreds of people sitting around multiple tables filled with drinks! The building was so large that you could spend multiple days moving through it without ever meeting everyone inside, and so there were various bartender stations at strategic parts of the Tavern, and dozens of sexy women wearing revealing outfits could be seen moving around with trays of drinks in their hands!

This was where Stella and Valeria were waiting for Jason. Stella looked around with a slightly disgusted expression on her face as the loud, rowdy mercenaries drank and yelled all around her! Stella was sitting at one of the tables close to the wall, and she was facing the door so that she could know once Jason arrived, but Stella couldn’t help but think that the life of a mercenary was an absolute mess! The men and women sitting around her smelled like beer and dirt, and Stella was sure that many of them hadn’t taken their baths in days! One of the men sitting at the side told some silly joke to his group and then laughed so loudly that he almost fell off his chair, and Stella frowned when she saw another man slap the ass of a waitress passing beside him!

The waitress smiled at the man, and she raised her gown to show off her underwear! The men all around clapped and cheered, and the man who slapped the waitress put a gold coin into her panties before standing up to head outside with her for a quick session.

"Stop looking at them like that. You’ll draw attention to yourself."

Stella finally turned away from the mercenaries when Valeria said this, and Stella frowned even deeper as she spoke to Valeria.

"How do you survive in a place like this, Your Highness? These people are... uncivilised."

Valeria looked up from her beer and gave Stella a curious look before she turned away and said:

"You don’t have to like the way they live, but I’ve gotten used to it. With mercenaries, things are simple. You mind your business, and they’ll mind theirs. The only time we have to cross paths is if our business crosses paths. And don’t call me by my title."

Valeria spoke in a way that showed just how much she had adapted to this sort of life. In the time that Valeria stayed in the Marc Mansion, Stella had trained with Valeria many times, and Stella had never thought that Valeria was uncivilised or a brute. Even though Valeria was very reclusive, it was obvious that she had more manners than all of the mercenaries in this place put together! Stella immediately knew that the reason for this civilised nature was the fact that Valeria had lived as a princess for a long time before she became a mercenary, and although Valeria was no longer princess-like, it was impossible for Valeria to become like these fools! Stella wondered what they would all think if they knew that they had the daughter of the strongest king sitting right in their midst!

"Well, I suppose each person has their own way of doing things, but I don’t think anyone would want to live amongst people like these."

Valeria frowned.

"You mean a mercenary? Like me?"

Stella blinked in surprise when she heard Valeria’s tone, and Stella realised that Valeria had taken offence at what she said! Stella quickly shook her head.

"No. Your Highness, I didn’t mean...!"

"Shhhh!"

Valeria quickly put her hand to her mouth and told Stella to stay silent! Valeria looked around to make sure that no one heard what Stella had just said, and once Valeria was certain that there was no one looking in their direction, she let out a sigh of relief before she turned to Stella with a stern look!

"Didn’t you hear what I just said!? Don’t ever call me that in here. I have a reputation to uphold, and if anyone knows what I am, they’ll never trust me with another job!"

Stella felt very guilty when she realised what she had almost done, and she nodded quickly to tell Valeria that she understood.

"Hey, hey, if it isn’t the great Valeria herself! I didn’t know you still came to the den! Thought you were too good to hang out with we lowly folks."

A loud voice suddenly echoed from the side, and both Stella and Valeria turned to see a group of four people walking towards them. The group was made up of two Yoseria giants who had red skin and large tusks that made them look like trolls, one demon woman wearing very revealing clothes, and in front of all of them was a dark-skinned elf with a nasty look on his face! This was the mercenary group known as the Balug’s Vipers, and they were infamous for their high success rate in theft and smuggling of illegal products around the Primordial Expanse!

Valeria had worked with a few of them sometime in the past when they were planning to enter a warring world to steal and transport some precious gems, but other than that, she didn’t enjoy spending time with them at all! Valeria turned her head and glanced at the dark elf in front of the group before turning away and focusing on her drink again. The dark elf grinned in amusement when he saw this, and he spread his hands to the side as he spoke.

"Oh, is the great Valeria too important to talk to us now? Even after we spent all those days hunting together in the dry Carian deserts. You hurt my poor heart."

The elf stepped closer, and Valeria gave him a hard look that stopped him in his tracks before Valeria spoke.

"I’m in the middle of another job right now, Tayrian. I’d appreciate it if you didn’t interfere."

The elf, Tayrian, hummed and tilted his head to the side before he glanced over at Stella curiously.

"Oh, is it to escort this maid somewhere? If you need extra manpower, we wouldn’t mind helping out. With the clothes she is wearing, I can tell she must have a very rich master. How about we join forces again and split the reward 60-40?"

Beside the elf, the demon woman wearing revealing clothes gave Valeria a dark look before clicking her tongue. It was obvious to anyone who looked here that the dark elf had a soft spot for Valeria in his heart, but Valeria didn’t care at all about the dark elf’s feelings! The demon woman couldn’t accept something like this because she knew that she was far more deserving than Valeria of having the dark elf’s affection! How could Valeria have something so precious, but she was treating it like it didn’t even matter!

When Stella still didn’t say anything to Tayrian, Tayrian decided to turn his attention towards Stella, and he spoke to her in a low, pleasant voice.

"Madam, we members of the Vipers are some of the best smugglers in the Primordial Expanse. If you want something moved across the domains, or maybe even out of the domains, then we are the best people for the job. As long as you pay us properly -"

Clink!

The sound of a sword being grabbed echoed through the region, and a wave of silence suddenly passed over the mercenaries drinking around the dirty tavern!
