Strongest Necromancer System Chapter 1132: Eating In The Forest
Previously on Strongest Necromancer System...
Jason had gone to find Valeria the previous day so they could talk, and Jason saw that she had actually set up a massive tent and a fireplace somewhere in the middle of the forest. When Jason appeared, Valeria had been roasting one of the deer that lived in Jason’s forest, and Jason gave her the most disbelieving look he had ever given anyone.
"You know there’s dinner inside the house, right?"
Valeria immediately pulled out her sword and turned around in shock when she heard Jason’s voice! Jason had appeared from the shadows, so she hadn’t heard him come closer at all! But once Valeria saw who it was, Valeria let out a breath, and she turned away with a small frown.
"I’m more comfortable like this."
This was all she said before she went back to poking the deer with a stick. For someone who had been living on the road for so long, Valeria had gotten used to being outside and hunting for her own food, so staying in the mansion for too long was too suffocating for her. Jason nodded, and he walked over to sit beside his sister. Up above, there was a clear sky dotted with stars, and Jason stayed silent until Valeria eventually spoke.
"Did you want to talk to me about something?"
Jason hummed.
"We’ll be leaving soon. I just wanted to talk about where we’ll go first."
Valeria poked the deer a few more times before she put the stick away and said:
"We’ll have to find a means of transportation before anything else. The Uncharted Zone isn’t like the rest of the Primordial Expanse. There are a lot of people over there, and they’re all dangerous, so most worlds have permanent inter-travel runes etched into them. The only way in or out would be using a hyperdrive ship."
Jason was surprised to hear this, and he asked her what the hyperdrive ships were like.
"It’s basically just a flying vessel. You’ll understand when you see it. You have a lot of money, so it won’t be hard to buy a new one, but in the Uncharted Zone, people always attack new ships because they know the occupants have a lot of money. It’s best to steal an old ship and use that to move around until we can get familiar with the environment."
Jason nodded along to that information, and he stored it away in his mind for later. Valeria reached to the side and grabbed a knife and plate before she cut into the deer and put some of it on the plate. Valeria then handed it to Jason.
"Here."
Jason raised a brow at this, and for a moment, Jason thought about refusing. But Jason knew that Valeria was trying to get closer to him, and this was the only way she knew how, so Jason took the meal from her. Valeria cut out another piece for herself, and the two siblings ate in silence for a short while before Jason spoke up again.
"When we get out there, I need to know that I can trust you to watch my back. I know you enjoy staying on your own, but we’ll have to work as a team if we want to find Gregory."
Valeria frowned slightly at this, but it didn’t take long for her to nod. The entire reason why Valeria was doing all of this was because she wanted to get revenge for her mother. If Valeria needed to become a team player to do that, then that is exactly what she would do.
"Look out for me, and I’ll look out for you. I promise."
Valeria said this with a very serious look on her face, and Jason nodded before they went back to their meal. That had been a few days ago, and now it was already the night before Jason would have to leave. Jason let out a cold breath as he watched the moon from his balcony, and he could feel a strange excitement coming over him. It had been a while since Jason went to an unknown land, and now that he was about to go on a new adventure, Jason was genuinely looking forward to it.
The first place they would be going was a place Valeria called ’The Pit’, and apparently it was some sort of scrapyard where pirates and mercenaries go to hang out and drink. It almost sounded like a regular bar here on Earth, but Jason knew that this would be filled with many different races from many different worlds that were all extremely powerful, so he had no idea what to expect.
"Hey, babe. You’re still awake?"
Jason turned around, and he smiled when he saw Gina walking up to him. Gina was holding a light blanket around her shoulders, and there was a sleepy look on her face since she had just gotten out of bed. Jason had been in bed with Gina and Agiel until just a few minutes ago, and Jason should have known that Gina would notice his absence. Jason put his hand out and wrapped it around Gina’s waist once she came closer, and Gina let out a small hum as she put her head on Jason’s shoulder.
"Sorry for waking you, babe. I just wanted to get some air."
Gina nodded, and she looked up at the beautiful moon for a moment before she spoke.
"Are you ready for tomorrow?"
Jason hummed.
"Yeah, I think I am. I wish you could come with me, though. It’ll be boring out there without you."
Gina smiled when she heard this. Gina also wished she could go with Jason, but Gina wasn’t stupid, and she knew that taking a pregnant woman on a journey like this could only lead to disaster. Gina only had about three more months before she had to give birth, so she was really showing now, but Jason couldn’t wait on Earth for those four months.
Jason had explained the battle he had against the Court of Apostles on Tarisavia to Gina, and Gina immediately understood that the Court were planning something serious. If Jason wasted time waiting for her to give birth before he went on his mission, then they would only be giving the Court more time to do whatever they wanted! Gina knew that the battle had really affected Jason. That was the reason why Jason was suddenly training so much more than before, and Gina could tell that Jason was angry at himself for letting them escape like that.
But Gina honestly had no idea that the Arcane Arts were so terrifying. Gina already knew that Jason’s Shadow Art was overpowered since it literally gave Jason another world that only he could control, but the other Apostles also had extremely terrifying abilities. The ability to manipulate nature, reality, and even time. How in the world could anyone fight against a group that had all these people working together?
Gina’s brow furrowed in annoyance as she had this thought, and Jason easily noticed what was on her mind. Jason brought Gina closer and spoke in a confident voice.
"You don’t need to worry about it, Gina. I might’ve lost that fight, but I got enough information to make a profile for each of them. Sicario is the most dangerous one of them. His ability to manipulate time is difficult to navigate, but the others aren’t that difficult to defeat. The nature apostle can be stopped with brute force, and the reality apostle can only manipulate non-living matter. I broke the mind apostle, so I’m sure we won’t hear from him in a while, and the Space Apostle is more likely to run away than fight anyone. I’m sure I’ll run into them again. And that time, I’ll be ready."
