Jason learns that killing Qi beasts can increase his Qi ranking. Lamina, Queen of Nox, contacts Jason in distress about an approaching disaster and the difficulty of evacuating the Vympirs. Jason devises a plan to house the Vympirs in his Alternate Dimension, as they are considered dead magical creatures.

Jason spoke to Stella seriously.

"I’ll leave a few subordinates behind, and they’ll bring the three of you back to Earth. I need to go ahead and make sure the evacuation process is working properly. When you get back, take my mum and sisters to the mansion and make sure you look after all of them. I’ll reach out to you if anything changes."

Stella nodded in acceptance, and Jason said one last goodbye to Valeria before he activated [King’s Substitute] and vanished from the world of Diran.

[Jadar]

[With Agiel]

The world of Jadar was in a celebratory mood! A large festival was taking place in the main kingdom outside the castle grounds as millions of people waited in anticipation for the upcoming wedding ceremony! The day when the Ruler of Jadar would get married to the former princess and unite the kingdom under one banner would soon arrive, and the grand festival would continue until the wedding day. For years, the Jadites have suffered a miserable war that saw their people slaughtered and murdered pointlessly, but they all knew that once this marriage was completed, then peace would return to the world once again.

But although most of the people were looking forward to the wedding, there were some who could not see this wedding as anything other than the beginning of a new era of misfortune! These people were the ones who remembered the misfortune that came upon the previous Queen of Jadar for marrying someone who was not her destiny. The previous Queen’s wedding was the entire reason why the world of Jadar had fallen into such a bloody war in the first place. If Agiel ends up repeating the mistake her mother made and marries someone that she was not meant to, then it could spell the end for their world.

In a large dressing room in the upper chambers of the royal castle, multiple women moved about with makeup, dresses, and jewelry as they prepared their princess for her upcoming appearance at the festival. It was customary for the bride and groom to go and greet the people separately during the festival, and Agiel was just glad that she did not have to see the groom again until the wedding day actually arrived.

The women serving Agiel were all dressed in long white robes that marked them as handmaidens, and in the middle of the room sat Agiel in a beautiful black gown with silver designs flowing around it like a branching river. Agiel’s long white hair fell down her shoulders like rivers of snow, and one of the women used a telekinetic ability to lift a black veil and placed it on Agiel’s head to complete the look.

Agiel’s head was bowed, and she was staring at the floor with a faraway look as the women fussed over her dress and makeup. The festival appearance was meant to be one of the happiest days in a princess’ life, and any other woman who was getting all this attention would’ve been extremely happy. But the only thing Agiel felt at that moment was a deep, undeniable emptiness. The sort of emptiness that comes upon you in unexpected moments and prevents you from bringing up even the slightest bit of emotion. It felt like Agiel was sitting alone in the middle of an abyss, surrounded by endless darkness, and Agiel knew that if she was already feeling this way during the festival, then she would feel so much worse during the actual wedding. If Agiel went ahead with this wedding, this was the feeling that would remain with her for the rest of her life.

One of the women who had been fixing up Agiel’s dress spoke to her kindly.

"We are done with the preparation, princess. Please stand."

Agiel let out a long breath as she finally stood from her chair, and many women admired Agiel’s beautiful appearance! The gown fit Agiel perfectly, and Agiel had never looked more like a princess than she did at that moment! The black material flowed out behind her like an endless sky with silver stars marking its pathway, and the veil on her head prevented the commoners from seeing her beautiful appearance and made her look like a mythical figure from legend.

An older woman turned Agiel around so that she could see herself in the mirror, and the moment Agiel set her eyes on the beautiful dress and jewelry, she frowned in irritation and turned away as a feeling of disgust rose from somewhere deep inside her. Although Agiel looked good, she had never hated her own image more than she did at that moment! But Agiel was surprised when the old woman spoke to her in a low voice that only the two of them could hear while pretending to fix up the dress.

"Tell me, princess, is this what you truly want? We are all aware that your destiny lies with another. If this continues, it will bring great misfortune down on you and all the land."

Agiel narrowed her eyes at her own reflection, and she responded in a low voice.

"What I desire doesn’t matter here. I have a duty to my people. If I have to sacrifice my destiny to secure their lives, then that is what I will do. We will worry about the fortune of the land when the time comes."

The old woman let out a sad sigh before she finally stepped back and bowed to Agiel.

"Then all of Jadar thanks you for your sacrifice, princess, and I pray the misfortune you must bear does not grow too heavy for your shoulders. My son is one of the soldiers held prisoner by the general, and your sacrifice will bring about his freedom, so I cannot say that I will gain no benefit from your misfortune. But I am truly sorry I cannot do anything for you, my princess. I am truly sorry."

Agiel looked closely at the older woman’s face, and Agiel could almost feel the intense pain and anguish flowing off the woman at that moment! When Agiel saw this, Agiel felt a little bit of her own sadness disappearing, and Agiel felt some satisfaction from knowing that her people understood how much she was sacrificing for them. Agiel was willingly putting herself in the same position that her mother had been in just to secure the future of this world, and even though Agiel would suffer for the rest of her life for it, Agiel didn’t mind as long as she could see her people thrive.

’You’re lying to yourself~’

A voice echoed in Agiel’s head, and Agiel closed her eyes tightly before shaking her head to get rid of the voice!

’You don’t really want to do this~ You want to run away~ You’d happily abandon your people if Jason comes for you~’

’No, I won’t.’

Agiel frowned at her reflection, and she took a deep breath before releasing it calmly! There was a pain somewhere deep in Agiel’s chest, like a feeling of constant heartburn after a hot meal, and Agiel knew that this was her body begging her not to continue this madness. But Agiel had learned to ignore that feeling a long time ago. Agiel already made up her mind about this wedding, and there was no voice or hallucination that would change that!

"The festival ceremony is about to begin!"

A loud voice called out from behind, and all the women in the room looked towards Agiel expectantly! Agiel let out another breath as she steeled her own heart, and then she turned away from her reflection and began walking out of the room.
