The phoenix, now named Helios, heals Harold's fatal wound. Valeria expresses her gratitude to Jason, who dismisses it, considering them family. As they wait for food, Jason learns the attackers were members of the "King's Guard," a group seeking to usurp the throne. He realizes they are the same individuals who attacked him previously and suspects Harold also has a claim to the throne.

"Do you really think you can defeat me?"

Valeria looked at Jason with an intense gaze as she analysed him very closely, and after a few long seconds, she finally turned away without saying anything in response. Jason chuckled again, and Valeria glared at him.

"Don’t make fun of me. I had no idea you would be this strong. You’re barely fifty years old, aren’t you? How did you manage to become a PRIMORDIAL already?"

Jason shrugged, and Valeria huffed in annoyance! Valeria was honestly a little put off by how powerful her younger brother was. Not only did Jason have an unimaginable amount of power and enough mana to drown an entire world, but he also had the power of Qi flowing through him! Valeria had heard about Qi, and although Qi was a very useful ability, it was also an ability that required a lot of practice, so Valeria had never gotten down to actually learning it since she preferred to get stronger by simply eating mana stones and stealing mana and abilities from her enemies! Valeria couldn’t help but wonder how Jason became so strong even though he had only lived such a short life.

’What would happen if he lived to a hundred? He’s already a PRIMORDIAL, and he should be on his way to the third rank by now. If he continued in this way, will he eventually challenge a Celestial for the right to an Aspect? That wouldn’t shock me, honestly.’

Valeria had heard about powerful beings challenging Celestials in the past, and although no one had succeeded in taking over the power of a Celestial, Valeria knew that it wasn’t impossible. But somewhere in the back of Valeria’s mind, Valeria believed that if Jason didn’t have his Qi and the Phoenix, or if she had also practiced cultivation along with her magic, then she might just be able to challenge him! Even though Valeria was only a TITAN Rank II, she had an unshakable confidence in her own ability that allowed her to believe she could take on anyone!

But what Valeria didn’t know was that even if she had decided to practice Qi cultivation, there was no way she would’ve been able to make the same amount of progress that Jason had made in such a short time! Jason was practically an anomaly in the cultivation world, and the fact that he could reach the level of an Awakened in such a short time made it obvious that he was extremely gifted in cultivation! If Valeria wanted to reach this same level, then she would have to constantly train her Qi for close to ten straight years!

Jason grinned at his frowning sister before he asked.

"What was it that you wanted to get from me? You said you were looking for me before Harold found you earlier. That means you wanted to ask me for something, right? What was it?"

Valeria’s eyes immediately sharpened once she heard this, and she leaned forward and spoke in a serious tone.

"What do you know of our brother, Gregory?"

Jason hummed.

"He’s the oldest of us, and according to Hendrix, he’s also the most powerful. Wasn’t he banished to the edge of the Primordial Expanse by father?"

Valeria nodded once to show that Jason’s words were correct before she spoke in a final voice.

"Gregory was banished because he nearly killed my mother in a pointless battle. That action deserved death, but father loved him too much, and that’s why he couldn’t do what needed to be done. But I am not so soft. Banishment is not enough to deal with someone like Gregory. He needs to be killed. And I need your help to do it."

Jason raised a brow at the confident look on Valeria’s face, and Jason realised that she was dead serious. From what Jason could feel, Valeria was only a TITAN Rank II, so Jason knew that she wouldn’t even stand a chance against Gregory in a fight. Was that why she came to him for help? Jason had never really thought about fighting with his own family before. Jason always believed that family was the most important thing in the world, and in an ideal scenario, Jason would prefer if the family solved their problems without violence. But Jason also was not a fool!

Jason knew that Valeria was completely justified in wanting Gregory’s death, and in truth, Jason couldn’t say that he was against it either. Gregory was becoming too much of a problem, and at this rate, it was either Jason deals with Gregory or Gregory would hurt the people Jason truly cared about!

Jason rubbed Helios’ head absentmindedly as he asked.

"What did you have in mind? Do you know where Gregory is?"

Valeria frowned and looked away, and Jason raised a brow as he asked another question.

"How about the King’s Guard? Do you know how many soldiers are in the army?"

"..."

Still no answer, and Jason tilted his head to one side and spoke in disbelief:

"Do you know anything at all about what Gregory is doing right now?"

Valeria huffed.

"No, I don’t. But I have some friends in my mercenary group who are good at collecting information. They can find out about it in just a few days once we hire them. I just need, uh..."

Jason raised a brow, and he asked Valeria what she needed exactly. Valeria’s frown deepened before she finally turned back to Jason and spoke seriously.

"I need some money to pay them. I’m broke."

Jason almost burst out in laughter once he heard that! Valeria had such a serious vibe around her while talking that you would think she was giving some sort of life-changing speech! You would never think she was talking about being broke! Jason had to ask.

"How in the world does a mercenary go broke? Don’t you people steal millions of gold coins from the worlds you fight for?"

There was a bit of irritation in Jason’s voice when he said this, and Valeria could tell that Jason wasn’t in support of the mercenary lifestyle either. Valeria narrowed her eyes in annoyance.

"I don’t steal anything. I simply agree to a price, and I’m paid for my services. I am a wandering warrior mercenary, not a plunderer. It’s just uh... I might’ve lost some gold coins in the gambling house, so I can’t hire any of the brokers to help me. But I swear, the opponent cheated! They were counting the cards."

’My mercenary sister has a gambling problem.’ [A/N: This would make a sick manga]

Jason couldn’t help but chuckle again once he had this thought, and Jason just let out a calm sigh! All the talk about death and murder had really brought Jason’s mood down, so Jason was grateful to have something like this to laugh about. Valeria frowned when she heard Jason laughing since she thought Jason was laughing at her, and Jason raised his hand to tell her to calm down before he finally spoke.

"Sorry, I just didn’t think you would be the sort of person to lose all your money like that. If you need money to contact the brokers, then I don’t mind helping out. I also need to find Gregory for my own reasons, so we can work with each other."

Valeria was still a little annoyed that Jason laughed at her, but she simply nodded to tell him that she understood. Jason turned to the side as the door opened, and he smiled when he saw Stella coming in with the food.

’Jason.’

Jason suddenly blinked as he received a message telepathically, and Jason recognized the voice as C’thlyanu!
