Jason's subordinates reported the arrival of a person claiming to be his father's child. He located the newcomer, a woman carrying an unconscious man, who demanded to see him. Jason used [King's Substitute] to quickly reach her in the city while his servant Azrael ensured the children's safety. The woman, revealed to be Jason's half-sister Valeria, confronted guards who were holding her back. After confirming their familial bond and seeing the poisoned state of her companion, Harold, Jason agreed to help and took them to a more private location.

[Blue Lake Inn]

Jason and Valeria appeared inside Jason’s room in the Blue Lake Inn, and they saw Stella sitting by the window and enjoying a cup of tea with the large Phoenix sitting beside her. The phoenix was bonded to Jason spiritually, so the moment the phoenix noticed that Jason was no longer in the forest, it left and came back here to wait for him. Stella noticed Jason once he arrived, and she quickly stood up and put the cup aside before bowing!

"Welcome back, master. We have guests?"

Jason hummed, and he told Stella what had happened while instructing Valeria to put Harold down on the bed. Valeria did just that, and Jason watched Harold’s face as Harold grimaced in pain. There was a sickly green color rising up Harold’s neck, and when Jason tore open his shirt, Jason saw that the coloration was coming from a wound on Harold’s ribcage. The entire left side of Harold’s body was already turning green, with thick veins pulsing constantly! Jason had no idea what sort of poison this was, but it had to have been extremely strong for it to be doing so much damage to a TITAN Rank.

"Can you help him?"

Valeria spoke up from behind in an indifferent voice, but Jason could pick out the worried tone hidden under the indifference. Even though she sounded like she didn’t care either way, Valeria obviously didn’t want Harold to die.

Valeria had actually tried everything she could to save Harold’s life. After defeating the members of the King’s Guard and taking Harold away from the frozen tundra in the world of Vorin, she waited for a short time to see if Harold would wake up on his own. All Avarans had very high constitutions, so they could heal major injuries in mere hours without needing any sort of healing skill. But after waiting for a while and not seeing any changes, Valeria quickly tried using the low-level healing spells that she had mastered to try and help him. But that had also failed!

As someone who spent most of her time on the frontline of the battlefield, Valeria never really had any reason to learn a healing spell that would help her save other people’s lives! The only high-level healing spells she knew were spells that would help her heal herself. And as Valerai watched her brother dying, Valeria couldn’t help but regret not learning more healing spells, since none of the spells that she had were capable of helping Harold. It was only after the first day passed that Valeria started seeing the signs of poison spreading through Harold’s body, and Valeria realised that this poison was the reason why none of her healing spells had worked!

Valeria knew that there was no way she could help her brother herself, and so she used Harold’s previous instructions to find her way to Diran while hoping that Jason would have some way to help Harold!

Jason stepped back from the bed and sent a message to his subordinates.

’I need a Bishop out here.’

Calypso, the former leader of the Jamani mercenaries, immediately walked out from the Alternate Dimension and fell to one knee in front of Jason, and Valeria blinked in surprise when she saw the scantily dressed reptilian woman! What the hell? Why was this woman dressed like a prostitute?

’Did Jason make her wear this? I didn’t think he was such a pervert.’

Valeria looked at Jason with a curious expression, but Jason had no idea what was going on in Valeria’s mind, so he didn’t bother paying her any attention! Jason pointed to Harold’s body and told Calypso to use her [Healing Aura] skill on him, and Calypso nodded and put her hand out towards Harold’s body! A green light first appeared on Calypso’s palm before it flowed towards Harold and surrounded his body!

Since Calypso was a Bishop Rank III, she had one of the highest healing aura ranks in the Legion, so it didn’t take long for the wound on Harold’s rib to begin closing up slowly. But Jason narrowed his eyes when he noticed that the green coloration around the rib was not changing at all! Instead, it was only getting worse! Jason immediately told Calypso to stop!

Once Calypso stopped using the Healing Aura, the wound stopped healing, and the green coloration stopped getting worse. Jason narrowed his eyes as he thought about this!

’Does the Healing Aura not work on the poison? Well, the description of the skill says it restores stamina and heals wounds. It never said anything about poison. Healing the wound isn’t difficult, but for some reason this poison gets worse the more we heal it. Does that mean I’ll need to get some sort of antidote first before we can heal the wound.’

"Is something wrong?"

Valeria spoke up from behind Jason, and Jason hummed as he explained what was going on. They couldn’t heal the wound until they figured out what sort of poison was used on Harold. Once Valeria heard this, she felt a grip squeezing against her heart, and she looked at her older brother’s unconscious body with a complicated expression. Harold was one of the only siblings who had been looking after her for a long time now. Even when Valeria constantly pushed him away, he always made sure that she was taken care of somehow. So knowing that he could die at any moment now made her feel horrible! Valeria honestly did not want him to die!

"Do you know what the antidote is? If you do, then I’ll search for it and bring it back."

Valeria stepped forward with a serious look on her face. The only thing she was good for was mercenary work, so she couldn’t help much with the healing. But when it came to a search and retrieval mission, then she would get the job done!

Jason was about to ask the system for any information on the antidote, but Jason stopped as he heard a loud squawk coming from the side!

<Master forgot me!?>

Jason blinked in surprise, and he looked towards the window to see his phoenix flapping its large wings angrily! Jason had left the Phoenix in the Corrupted Forest with the rest of his subordinates to continue hunting, and Jason hadn’t told the phoenix that he would be leaving since he was in such a hurry! Jason believed that the phoenix would simply keep fighting even if he wasn’t there. But the bird had immediately left the forest once it noticed that Jason was no longer around.

The bird was currently glaring at Jason like Jason had done something wrong, and Jason smiled apologetically at the Phoenix before Jason’s eyes suddenly widened as he realised something! The Phoenix had a healing factor as well, didn’t it!?

’Can you heal the poison?’

Jason asked this curiously, and the phoenix huffed while turning away.

<Master forgot me. Bad Master.>

’Okay, I’m sorry I forgot. I really need you to focus here. Can you heal the poison?’

The phoenix didn’t even bother to respond to Jason’s question. Instead, it flapped its wings and flew towards the bed before landing beside Harold’s body. The phoenix looked at the wound and tilted its head from side to side like it was studying it closely, and Jason watched in surprise as a hot aura began to flow out from the phoenix’s body! The aura moved towards Harold and surrounded him, and Harold grunted in pain!

Jason quickly put his hand on Valeria’s shoulder when she tried to move forward, and he told her not to do anything.

"Just watch."
