Jason and Stella travel to the Yang Continent, learning about its three major cultivation sects: the peaceful Sakura Blossom Sect, the violent Demonic Sect, and the reclusive Eastern Mountain Sect. They discover that the continent was devastated by an attack from the Primordials, who eradicated most of the Demonic Sect and left their former city in ruins. Jason decides to investigate the destroyed Demonic Sect.

’The city was a lot worse off than this when the attack happened back then. They’ve really fixed up most of it. But you should remember this sight. If you don’t want something like this happening to your world, then you need to take your training even more seriously!’

Jason hummed in response to Esdath’s words, and he glanced back as Stella spoke up.

"Master, this land... was it attacked by a Primordial being?"

Stella looked over the landscape with a hard look on her face, and Jason could almost see the cogs turning in her head as she tried to understand what had happened here! Since Avaran had also been attacked by a Primordial, Jason could understand why Stella was able to guess what happened so easily! Stella turned away from the devastated land after a few seconds, and she asked Jason if this was their final destination, but Jason told Stella that it wasn’t, and he patted Ragnar on the side and told him to take off!

ROAR!

Ragnar roared as he turned and began heading towards the east, and they left the destroyed city behind them! Jason could tell that Stella was uncomfortable being there, and as they flew away, Jason felt Stella tighten her hand around his waist, like she was trying desperately to anchor herself in this moment and not lose herself in her memories.

Jason said nothing about Stella’s action, and he just guided Ragnar on where to go. This time, they flew for more than two hours as they made their way towards a massive cluster of mountains in the distance! There were trees growing between the mountains and preventing Jason from seeing what was happening on the ground, and the moment Jason crossed a certain boundary, he felt an intense surge of natural Qi slam into him, and he couldn’t stop himself from sighing in appreciation! Jason had no idea why, but for some reason, this power just felt right! Like this was the way Qi was meant to always feel! But surprisingly, Jason couldn’t see where they were meant to go from up here. The horizon was filled with nothing but mountains and trees, and there was no sign of any settlements where the Eastern Mountain Sect might live.

’We created a Qi Illusion Matrix after the battle against the Primordials as a way to protect ourselves. It prevents anyone from reaching the mountain from the air. You’ll have to land and travel across on foot from here.’

Esdath sent Jason a message, and Jason hummed in curiosity and asked Esdath what the hell a Qi Illusion Matrix was! Esdath said it was similar to a rune, but unlike runes that used mana to work, matrices used Qi to activate! Jason’s eyes flashed with interest as he suddenly realised that this was a new form of power that he had never heard about before! Jason asked Esdath why he never taught him this, and Esdath was silent for a few seconds before he said something shocking.

’I’m... not very good at it.’

Jason scoffed in amusement, and Esdath’s face squeezed in embarrassment as he shouted at Jason and told him not to laugh at him!

’How dare you laugh at your teacher!? You think I’m a freak like you that can master every form of power after just a few days!? Of course there are things I’m not very good at! Is that so surprising!?’

Jason couldn’t stop himself from chuckling when he heard all this, and Esdath’s head started to turn red from how angry he was! But Jason finally shook his head and spoke:

’Sorry for laughing. I just didn’t think there’d be something the great Esdath wouldn’t be good at. You always sounded so proud of yourself.’

Esdath huffed in anger and turned away.

’I died long before I could master the skill, and there are no textbooks or scrolls that can help me learn more. It’s not that I couldn’t learn it; it’s just that I didn’t have the time.’

Jason hummed in acceptance, and Jason decided to stop teasing the old man! Jason then turned and told Stella to get ready to fly down to the ground. Stella nodded, and in the next moment, Ragnar vanished, and the two of them were falling freely through the sky! Stella activated her flight ability, and black wings sprouted from Jason’s back, and the two of them slowed down and made their way into the cluster of mountains and trees.

The moment they landed, Jason could feel thousands of eyes turning in his direction! Beasts and monsters from all around immediately got on full alert, and Jason almost laughed in amusement when he felt hostility from some of them! The monsters were all around TITAN Rank in strength, so to Jason it was like a bunch of children growling up at him threateningly! Jason was surrounded by multiple trees that were growing between mountains, but it was a long walk towards their final destination, and Jason decided he wasn’t interested in dealing with the monsters, so he called on all the Bengari warriors in his Legion! The warriors appeared in front of him and immediately went to one knee! Diane was kneeling in front of them with her sword and shield in her hands, and she waited obediently for Jason’s orders.

’Form a perimeter around us and take care of any beast that comes too close.’

’Yes, my king!’

The Bengari responded eagerly, and they all took off to do as they were told! The restless and hostile growling around the forest began to rise significantly once the monsters sensed the Bengari’s presence, but any monster that tried to get close was immediately attacked by the Bengari warriors, and Jason kept walking without bothering about what was going on around him! Stella jogged to keep up with Jason, and she asked him if she should also join the Bengari to fight, but Jason just said it was fine! The Bengari were more than powerful enough to handle any beast that showed itself.

"If anyone gets past them, then you can take care of it."

"Yes, master."

Stella nodded while putting her hand on her sword, and she kept following behind Jason as they trekked through the forest! Esdath gave Jason instructions on where to go, and Jason turned and twisted around the trees in a pattern that made almost no sense to him.

’The Qi Illusion Matrix is strong enough to fool any Primordial, so you wouldn’t be able to get past it either. From the air, you’ll never be able to find the Eastern Mountains, and on the ground, you’ll need to go through this particular set of twists and turns before you can reach it. Turn left here and cross the small lake.’

Esdath spoke up from inside Jason’s head as Jason walked, and Jason floated into the air and passed over the lake as he continued moving. Esdath directed Jason to cross between two trees that seemed completely unimportant, but the moment Jason crossed them, he saw a pathway opening in front of him as the trees began to shift. It felt like the trees were guiding him in the direction to go, and Jason put his hand in his coat pocket and appreciated the view as he followed the path.

As Jason moved, Jason couldn’t help but appreciate just how beautiful the forest was. Although there were monsters in here, there were also thousands of peaceful creatures coexisting in the forest, and the natural energy of the forest’s Qi allowed Jason to sense the emotions of these animals!
