Ye Chen arrives at the precinct to find Political Commissioner Zhao arguing with Captain Zhou Susu and Officer Yang Wei. Zhao attempts to discredit Susu and Yang Wei, but Yang Wei retorts, revealing Zhao's earlier encouragement. Ye Chen decides to leave due to the unprofessional atmosphere, but Director Zhou arrives and expresses his desire for Ye Chen's assistance with a murder case, subtly reprimanding Zhao. Ye Chen confronts Zhao about his earlier remarks, leaving the commissioner flustered.

Director Zhou, witnessing the scene, immediately grasped that Ye Chen's evident displeasure stemmed from some prior incident.

"Younger Brother Ye, what makes you say that?" Director Zhou inquired, his gaze fixed on Ye Chen.

Ye Chen offered only a faint smile in response, remaining silent.

Director Zhou then turned his attention to Political Commissioner Zhao, asking, "Commissioner, why the profuse sweating? What precisely transpired?"

Political Commissioner Zhao ceased dabbing his forehead with a handkerchief and, with a look of grievance, pointed at Yang Wei. "Director Zhou, it is entirely due to Yang Wei that Mr. Ye is displeased."

'A truly cunning old fox,' Ye Chen mused inwardly, acknowledging how smoothly Political Commissioner Zhao had deflected the blame onto Yang Wei.

However, Director Zhou was not so easily swayed. Noticing Political Commissioner Zhao's evasion of a direct explanation, he reiterated, "Commissioner, I would appreciate it if you could inform me of the exact events that just occurred."

This prompted a fresh wave of cold sweat from Political Commissioner Zhao. Faced with Director Zhou's stern demeanor, his clothes became completely soaked.

He stood frozen, utter silence his only reply.

"Captain Zhou, perhaps you can elaborate on what happened?" Director Zhou addressed the female officer before him.

"Director, this is what transpired. As per your directive, I invited Ye Chen to the police station to discuss the case. However, Political Commissioner Zhao intervened, accusing me of procedural violations and stating that not just anyone could enter the station. He even threatened to revoke my eligibility for the national outstanding police officer selection," Zhou Susu explained the entire situation.

"Commissioner, is this account accurate?" Director Zhou questioned Political Commissioner Zhao.

"That is correct, but it was a complete misunderstanding. I have already clarified matters with Mr. Ye. Yang Wei informed me that Captain Zhou was bringing an unauthorized individual into the office. My sole concern was the potential damage to our police station's reputation, which prompted my remarks," Political Commissioner Zhao stammered nervously.

"Political Commissioner Zhao, have you lost your senses? Are you unaware of Captain Zhou's impeccable character? Such actions could genuinely alienate valued colleagues like these," Director Zhou remarked with a sigh.

"Director Zhou, I admit my fault this time. I offer my sincerest apologies to Mr. Ye and Captain Zhou," Political Commissioner Zhao stated earnestly.

He then turned to Ye Chen and Zhou Susu, adding, "Mr. Ye, Captain Zhou, the earlier incident was a misunderstanding. I apologize now and sincerely hope for your forgiveness."

Given Political Commissioner Zhao's explicit apology, Ye Chen and Zhou Susu saw no need to pursue the matter further.

'It seems somewhat excessive for a political commissioner to apologize to two younger individuals while still attempting to maintain some upper hand,' Ye Chen thought.

Truthfully, Ye Chen had no intention of causing excessive trouble for Political Commissioner Zhao; his actions were merely a stern warning.

Moreover, this incident served as a crucial lesson for Political Commissioner Zhao, making him reconsider any attempt to disqualify Zhou Susu from the selection process.

"Now that the misunderstanding is cleared, Younger Brother Ye, will you not stay for a while longer?" Director Zhou asked with a smile.

Ye Chen didn't answer directly but turned to Yang Wei, inquiring, "Officer Yang, do you still maintain that I have no right to be at the police station right now?"

Yang Wei had initially believed everyone had overlooked him. He was taken aback when Ye Chen directly addressed him.

"Mr. Ye, I was genuinely mistaken earlier. I am truly sorry," Yang Wei quickly explained.

At this juncture, Political Commissioner Zhao fixed Yang Wei with a look of intense animosity.

The glare from Political Commissioner Zhao caused Yang Wei's legs to tremble uncontrollably.

Ignoring the two men, Ye Chen then addressed Director Zhou, stating with a smile, "Given your kind invitation, it would indeed be a bit disrespectful of me to leave at this moment."

"Commissioner, you and your colleague may take your leave now. I have matters to discuss further with Brother Ye," Director Zhou announced to Political Commissioner Zhao.

"Director Zhou, please, proceed with your conversation. We shall all talk," Political Commissioner Zhao quickly replied.

Noticing Yang Wei still standing frozen, he sternly commanded, "Yang Wei, why are you lingering here? Come to my office immediately."

Hearing this, Yang Wei felt on the verge of tears.

Ye Chen and Zhou Susu exchanged a knowing glance; both understood that Yang Wei's fate was likely sealed.

Political Commissioner Zhao had initially schemed to leverage Yang Wei against Zhou Susu, using that as a pretext to revoke her professional qualifications.

However, he had never anticipated that his own scheme would spectacularly backfire, not only failing to achieve its objective but also incurring the wrath of Director Zhou.

'Ye Chen's strategy of playing the victim was truly masterful,' observed Ye Chen.

Yang Wei trailed dejectedly behind Political Commissioner Zhao as they exited Zhou Susu's office.

He harbored no illusions; he knew this time, he was utterly finished.

Director Zhou, after observing the departure of the two, offered a smile and said, "Brother Ye, I apologize for the earlier unpleasantness."

Ye Chen, with a wave of his hand, replied, "Director Zhou, there's no need for you to feel bad. This matter has nothing to do with you."

Hearing Ye Chen's words, Director Zhou felt a wave of relief wash over him.

"Brother Ye, please have a seat," Director Zhou said, gesturing invitingly.

He then turned his attention to Zhou Susu, remarking, "Captain Zhou, why are you delaying in pouring Mr. Ye a cup of tea? Is this how you treat our guest?"

At this command, Zhou Susu promptly moved to prepare hot water, but Ye Chen intervened, stopping her.

He had absolutely no desire to linger at the police station at that moment, nor did he wish to delve into case details with Director Zhou.

"Director Zhou, you truly needn't be so formal. I genuinely don't require any water, and we must indeed be leaving now," Ye Chen stated with a pleasant smile.

Director Zhou was taken aback by this statement; he hadn't anticipated that Ye Chen still intended to depart so soon.

"Brother Ye, are you perhaps still upset?" Director Zhou inquired quickly.

"Director Zhou, Ye Chen is not upset at all. We had already made plans to go out earlier today," Zhou Susu interjected with a smile.

"Ah, I see now!" Director Zhou's face lit up with a look of dawning comprehension.

Director Zhou was privy to the developing relationship between Zhou Susu and Ye Chen. Having not seen each other for quite some time, he surmised that their expressed desire to "go out" indicated they felt the police station was an inconvenient location for their reunion.

He mused that young people today had rather liberal ideas, and he, not being an old-fashioned traditionalist, found it quite understandable.

Observing Director Zhou's change in expression, Zhou Susu's lovely face began to flush with color.

She felt as though a significant misunderstanding had occurred.

Ye Chen, however, remained unperturbed. "Director Zhou, we will take our leave then."

"Go on, go on. Oh, and Susu, don't forget to discuss the case details with Ye Chen later," Director Zhou quickly reminded as Zhou Susu walked past him.

"Director Zhou, I understand," Zhou Susu replied.

Watching the pair depart, Director Zhou experienced a pang of wistful envy. "Ah, youth is truly a wonderful thing," he thought to himself.

As Ye Chen and Zhou Susu exited the police station, they encountered Yang Wei emerging from Political Commissioner Zhao's office.

At that moment, Yang Wei bore the defeated air of someone who had just lost a major battle, his head hanging low.

It required no great leap of deduction to conclude that Yang Wei had likely received a severe reprimand from the commissioner.

Witnessing Yang Wei's dejected state, neither Ye Chen nor Zhou Susu felt any sympathy; they believed he had thoroughly earned his unpleasant experience.

"Mr. Ye, Captain Zhou, I was truly in the wrong. Please, I implore you, help me plead for leniency so that I am not transferred to a remote police station," Yang Wei beseeched.

Ye Chen simply offered a shrug and remained silent.
