Ye Chen's visit to the police station was disrupted by Political Commissioner Zhao and Yang Wei, who initially tried to prevent him from entering and threatened Zhou Susu's national outstanding police officer selection. Director Zhou intervened, clarifying the misunderstanding and exposing Zhao's attempt to use Yang Wei's report to his advantage. After apologies were made, Ye Chen and Zhou Susu left, encountering Yang Wei, who had clearly faced repercussions.

Yang Wei clung to the slim hope of trying, as he had already anticipated Ye Chen's refusal to assist.

Just as he suspected, observing Ye Chen's demeanor and actions, Yang Wei completely relinquished any hope.

Who could he possibly blame? It was none other than his own debilitating jealousy.

Ye Chen escorted Zhou Susu away from the police precinct and they settled into the sleek sports car.

As the vehicle began to move, Zhou Susu glanced at Ye Chen and remarked, "Ye Chen, isn't Yang Wei rather pitiful, don't you think?"

He hadn't anticipated such a sentiment from the young woman beside him, but he responded with a smile, "Susu, you truly possess an exceptionally kind heart. I don't find him pitiful in the slightest. Consider this: had I not been present in the office at that crucial moment, you might have been disqualified from the competition."

"That is indeed true," Zhou Susu conceded with a nod.

Then, as if a sudden realization struck her, she hastily added, "Aside from you, I wouldn't bring any other man into my office."

Upon hearing this, Ye Chen offered Zhou Susu a smile, musing on the girl's sharp perceptiveness, a quality befitting a police officer.

"Very well, let's set this matter aside for now. Where would you like to dine?" Ye Chen inquired, looking at her.

"How about we just grab some KFC? It's quick and convenient," Zhou Susu proposed.

Typically, Zhou Susu and her team would opt for takeaway, making fast food like KFC the most practical choice, minimizing time spent on meals.

Ye Chen rolled his eyes playfully and queried, "Do you genuinely have such a fondness for this? Have you not considered indulging in something else?"

"Let's stick with this. After eating, we must resume our investigation. I need to race against time to crack this case," Zhou Susu stated with resolution.

With a sigh of reluctant acceptance, Ye Chen agreed to take her to KFC, having originally intended to visit a different dining establishment along their route.

Witnessing Zhou Susu's fervent desire to solve the case, he understood that a leisurely meal elsewhere was unlikely, thus he acquiesced to her suggestion.

Ordinarily, Ye Chen would not have selected this type of cuisine, finding it somewhat uninspired and not particularly filling.

The two individuals arrived at the KFC entrance, and Ye Chen proceeded to park the car.

As he exited the vehicle, he noticed Zhou Susu remained seated inside.

"Susu, we've arrived; hurry and get out of the car," Ye Chen called out.

"Ye Chen, could you just buy me a spicy leg burger for me? I'll wait for you in the car," Zhou Susu replied, waving her hand.

Her words left Ye Chen somewhat at a loss for response; could she truly be content with just a burger?

"Susu, come on, let's go inside and order together; it won't take long at all," Ye Chen reiterated.

Hearing this, Zhou Susu drew her brows together and exited the car, walking into the establishment with Ye Chen.

Ye Chen placed the order for two spicy leg burger meals, supplementing the order with a portion of chicken nuggets and wings.

While awaiting their food, Zhou Susu appeared visibly concerned and inquired, "Ye Chen, why hasn't our number been called yet?"

"Hold on a moment; let me go check," Ye Chen said, rising to approach the counter.

Throughout this period, Zhou Susu repeatedly glanced at her watch, her expression etched with impatience.

After a short interval, Ye Chen reappeared, carrying a tray laden with their food.

"Susu, let's eat at a relaxed pace; there's no need to rush," Ye Chen reassured her.

Perhaps influenced by Ye Chen's calming presence, Zhou Susu's agitation subsided.

She commenced eating her burger and took a sip of her beverage.

"You see, that's much better. Eating too hastily isn't beneficial for your health," Ye Chen commented with a smile.

However, from the moment they began eating until they finished, less than half an hour had elapsed.

After all, within the bustling restaurant, despite Zhou Susu's eagerness, she was unable to discuss the case details with Ye Chen.

Once they were back in the car, she turned to Ye Chen with an anxious look and asked, "Do you have any insights into this case? How do you intend to solve it?"

Ye Chen offered no immediate reply, instead looking at Zhou Susu and saying, "Let's go. Take me to see the little girl."

"Understood," Zhou Susu responded, nodding.

Following the address provided by Zhou Susu, Ye Chen navigated the car and arrived at an exceptionally opulent residential complex.

This neighborhood was notably less grand than the one where Ye Chen resided.

As the car entered the premises, the security personnel offered no obstruction, allowing them passage with ease.

Ye Chen parked the vehicle and proceeded on foot with Zhou Susu.

They entered the elevator together, and Zhou Susu pressed the button for the tenth floor.

"Ding!" The elevator doors slid open, and they stepped out, proceeding under Zhou Susu's guidance towards a specific apartment door.

At that moment, a police cordon was conspicuously erected before the entrance.

Ye Chen's brow furrowed, contemplating whether the young girl continued to reside there.

After all, this was the scene of the crime, requiring police protection and prohibiting unauthorized entry.

Before Ye Chen could vocalize his question, Zhou Susu clarified, "Ye Chen, this is the little girl’s home, but she is not currently here."

"The little girl isn't here? Then why have you brought me to this location?" Ye Chen asked, rolling his eyes at Zhou Susu.

"Over the years, our standard procedure for solving cases has been to begin at the crime scene, as it typically holds clues left by the perpetrator," Zhou Susu informed Ye Chen.

Ye Chen considered Zhou Susu's logic to be sound, though he acknowledged that circumstances could alter the approach.

Since they had already arrived, Ye Chen decided it was best to proceed with Zhou Susu's suggestion, to avoid giving her the impression he was being deceptive.

Donning the protective attire, shoe covers, and gloves provided by Zhou Susu, Ye Chen entered the premises. However, once inside, Ye Chen deviated from the typical police methods of searching for fingerprints, footprints, or bloodstains. Instead, he conducted a cursory inspection of both the upper and lower floors.

After descending from the upper level, Ye Chen turned to Zhou Susu and stated, "Susu, it's time to leave."

Zhou Susu glanced at her watch, noting that less than ten minutes had elapsed since their entry until Ye Chen's declaration.

"Leaving so quickly, Ye Chen? Did you manage to observe everything clearly?" Zhou Susu inquired, her expression one of confusion.

"Yes, I saw everything quite clearly," Ye Chen responded dismissively.

The truth was, Ye Chen's method of case resolution was based on intuition, and his presence at the scene was merely to alleviate any suspicion Zhou Susu might harbor.

"Did you inspect every single room?" Zhou Susu pressed further.

"Indeed, I've examined every room. Chief Zhou, please don't worry; I wouldn't dare deceive you," Ye Chen replied with a smile.

Hearing Ye Chen's confident assertion, Zhou Susu nodded and agreed, "Very well, let's depart then."

With Zhou Susu's consent, Ye Chen felt a wave of relief wash over him. Remaining any longer would have been a futile expenditure of his time.

Ye Chen understood Zhou Susu's urgency to resolve the case swiftly, recognizing that further delay at this location would be unproductive. Their priority was to visit the young girl promptly.

The pair exited the building, with Ye Chen at the wheel and Zhou Susu in the passenger seat.

"Ye Chen, I'll take you to see the young girl now," Zhou Susu announced.

Ye Chen, however, offered a smile and countered, "Just a moment. Can we go somewhere else first?"

Zhou Susu looked surprised and asked, "Where are we going?"
