Chapter 583: What the Dungeon Gave Them
Loriel rested in one of the bedrooms inside Leon’s house.
Her breathing remained steady.
Leon checked her condition repeatedly over the next several hours. Nothing was wrong with her body anymore. Her exhaustion simply ran too deep for ordinary healing to remove.
Ira and Seraphine refused to leave.
Vyra stayed as well.
The room remained quiet until evening.
By then, every survivor had returned home, and the settlement leaders had received the final list of casualties. Leon had ordered support for the families of the dead, but there was nothing more he could personally do that night.
Loriel still had not awakened.
They moved several chairs near her bed.
No one wanted to discuss rewards at first.
Vyra eventually broke the silence.
"My trial did not test my strength."
Ira looked toward her aunt.
"What did it do?"
"It took my strength away."
Vyra rested her arms across her knees.
"I was placed in command of several groups of Pyrans. None of them possessed their real strength. Neither did I."
"What were you fighting?" Leon asked.
"An army that never stopped."
Vyra explained without exaggeration.
Every battlefield had forced her to choose.
One group would be surrounded while another defended civilians. If she personally saved the first, the second position would collapse. If she remained behind and commanded, people she could have saved with her own hands would die.
"There was no choice that saved everyone," Vyra said.
Ira’s expression became serious.
"What did you do?"
"At first? I tried to do everything."
Vyra had fought at the front, commanded from a distance, rescued the injured, and reinforced every failing line.
It had not worked.
She could not stand everywhere at once.
Each time Vyra tried to carry the entire battlefield alone, more people died because no one else had been allowed to grow into responsibility.
"The final trial placed every surviving group under attack at once," Vyra continued. "I had enough strength to save one."
"Only one?" Seraphine asked.
"That was what it wanted me to believe."
Vyra had finally stopped trying to become the answer to every problem.
She divided authority among the surviving commanders, trusted them with their people, and strengthened them instead of replacing them.
They won together.
A golden panel appeared before her when the trial ended.
[Class Reawakening Complete]
[Class: Pyran Flame Sovereign]
[Class Rank: S]
[Class Rarity: Unique]
Leon stared at the class name.
"Unique?"
"That was the word."
"That is more important than you realize."
Vyra looked at him.
Leon leaned forward.
"A Unique class isn’t simply rare. It was created for you. Your race, your fire, your experience, and the choices you made inside the trial shaped it."
"There can be no other holder?"
"There might never be another person capable of receiving the same class."
Vyra fell silent.
Her new class was not built only for combat. Its authority could guide, strengthen, and unite the Pyrans beneath her.
Leon smiled.
"You did extremely well."
A small amount of pride entered Vyra’s expression.
"I am aware."
Ira immediately raised her hand.
"My turn."
Vyra looked at her.
"You could simply speak."
"That is less dramatic."
Ira stood from her chair and began pacing.
"My trial started in a sea of fire."
"How large was this sea?" Seraphine asked.
"Endless."
Vyra’s eyes narrowed.
"It was very large," Ira corrected. "Practically endless."
She described monsters rising from the flames. Each one had supposedly been larger than the last, until Ira was fighting creatures tall enough to crush mountains.
Seraphine listened with a calm expression.
"You defeated a mountain-sized beast at Level 1?"
"It wasn’t a real mountain."
"So it was smaller."
"Size is not the important part."
Ira continued before anyone could question her again.
The true heart of the trial slowly became clear beneath her heroic version.
She had been forced to protect a small flame while enemies attacked from every direction. Whenever Ira lost control, her own fire joined the inferno around her and endangered the thing she needed to protect.
Burning everything only made the trial harder.
"I could have destroyed all of it," Ira said.
Vyra looked at her.
"Eventually."
Ira had been forced to learn that fire did more than destroy.
It could protect.
It could guide.
It could provide warmth without consuming what it touched.
She had not become gentle. The trial had simply taught her greater control over the same violent power she already loved.
"And after I defeated the final monster with one perfect strike—"
"Three strikes," Vyra said.
Ira ignored her.
"—the dungeon finally admitted that I was incredible."
A panel had appeared.
[Class Reawakening Complete]
[Class: Calamity Flame Lancer]
[Class Rank: S]
[Class Rarity: Rare]
Ira crossed her arms and waited.
Leon grinned.
"That fits you far too well."
"It does."
"An S-rank Rare class is an incredible result, Ira. Especially after entering at Level 1."
Her proud smile softened.
"You mean that?"
"I wouldn’t lie about this. You earned it."
Ira looked pleased for several seconds.
Then she glanced toward Seraphine.
Seraphine remained perfectly calm.
Ira’s smile weakened.
"What?"
"Nothing."
"Why do you look like that?"
"Like what?"
"Like you know something annoying."
Seraphine adjusted her position in the chair.
"My trial was different."
Ira sat down slowly.
Seraphine had been completely alone.
The dungeon removed her equipment, her class skills, and every person she normally fought beside. It then created several versions of her.
One had abandoned Leon when he was still weak.
Another had chosen greater personal strength over loyalty.
A third had become bitter after spending her life protecting people stronger than herself.
"They said my loyalty was dependence," Seraphine explained. "That I could only stand because Leon, you, and the others were beside me."
Ira frowned.
"So you killed them?"
"Eventually."
Seraphine had fought each version while only possessing her own experience, Lightning affinity, Light affinity, and swordsmanship.
The final enemy possessed all the strength Seraphine believed she lacked.
She defeated it by combining her lightning and light into a sword technique created entirely through her own comprehension.
The dungeon rewarded her after the final strike.
[Class Reawakening Complete]
[Class: Stormlight Sword Saint]
[Class Rank: S]
[Class Rarity: Ultra-Rare]
Ira’s mouth opened.
Leon blinked.
Ultra-Rare.
Seraphine had entered the weakest of the three, yet she had achieved a class rarer than Ira’s.
"Stormlight Sword Saint," Leon repeated. "That combines your sword, lightning, and Light affinity."
"Yes."
"That is an exceptional class."
Ira stared at her.
"Ultra-Rare?"
Seraphine nodded.
"But you were weaker than me."
"I was."
"And you still got something rarer?"
"It would appear so."
Ira looked toward Leon as though expecting him to correct reality.
Leon only laughed.
"You all did better than I expected."
He looked at Vyra first.
"A Unique S-rank class."
Then Ira.
"A Rare S-rank class."
Finally, Seraphine.
"An Ultra-Rare S-rank class."
Leon did not hide his pride.
"Every one of you achieved something extraordinary."
Ira’s annoyance faded.
Seraphine smiled.
Vyra inclined her head.
A faint movement came from the bed.
Loriel’s fingers shifted.
Then her eyes fluttered open.
