Damon absorbs the Goddess's Origin energy, creating an Origin Core within himself. The Goddess awakens, unleashing her divine power and retaliating against Damon. As his body is ravaged by the uncontrollable power, Damon embraces the Origin Core, pushing back against the Goddess and overpowering her.

Golden symbols flickered across the blood tendrils as they completely captured the Goddess.

"Devour!" Damon roared, madness burning in his eyes.

BOOOOOOM!

The Goddess's body jerked violently. "No!"

The blood tendrils themselves became extensions of Damon. Immediately, the Goddess felt that terrifying suction force return. Her face changed. Origin Energy erupted from her body in thick golden streams and poured directly into the tendrils.

The Goddess struggled violently. Her six wings spread apart and unleashed a blinding explosion of divine radiance. Several tendrils shattered, but they regenerated almost instantly.

More replaced them. Ten became a hundred. A hundred became a thousand. They wrapped around her wings, pierced through her divine barriers, and crawled across her body.

Golden energy flowed through the crimson tendrils before entering Damon. His Origin Core trembled.

THUMP!

Damon staggered, but a cold, vicious grin appeared on his face. "So that's how it works." He finally understood. Perhaps it was one of the Origin energy perks, but right at this moment he was the most connected with his bloodline, and he understood how it pulled out what it wanted.

"You can't!" The Goddess screamed.

For the first time, genuine panic filled her voice. Golden runes erupted across her body as she desperately attempted to sever the tendrils. "Do you even understand what you're doing?!"

"Nope." Damon tightened his fist. The tendrils constricted. "Don't really care either."

"DEVOUR!"

BOOOOOOOOOOM!

The suction force multiplied.

The Goddess screamed. Her six magnificent wings immediately began dimming. One feather after another lost its golden radiance. Her divine aura rapidly weakened.

Even worse, Damon was becoming stronger. The golden cracks covering his body slowly disappeared. His flesh stopped tearing apart. His bones no longer shattered beneath the pressure of his Origin Core. Every strand of Origin Energy he stole seemed to be doing more than simply adding power.

It was completing him and rebuilding him. It was turning his mortal existence into something capable of carrying what had been born inside him.

La Rocha stared at Damon in absolute disbelief. "Divine transformation…"

Damon heard him. "What?"

"Your body." La Rocha's voice trembled. "Her Origin Energy is transforming your body." His expression became increasingly strange. "You didn't undergo Divine Ascension, so you never received the transformation that normally accompanies it. Your Origin Core was trying to exist inside a mortal vessel."

La Rocha stared at the Goddess being drained before them. "But your bloodline is fixing that problem by force."

Damon's eyes gleamed. That explained everything. Why his body had initially exploded. Why each regeneration had become stronger. Why the Origin Energy was becoming easier to withstand. He wasn't merely adapting to the power. He was ascending.

THUMP!

His Origin Core pulsed again. A golden ripple spread through Damon's body. His heart stopped. Then…

THUMP!

It beat again. The sound echoed across the battlefield.

The Goddess froze.

THUMP!

Another beat. This time the surrounding space trembled.

THUMP!

The abyssal energy surrounding Earth recoiled.

THUMP!

The mana flooding the planet surged toward Damon.

The Goddess stared at him with growing horror. Her face became white. She suddenly stopped struggling. Her expression changed completely. "Wait."

Damon raised an eyebrow. A moment ago, she had been calling him an insect. Now there was something else in her voice.

"Release me."

Damon almost laughed. The Goddess hurriedly continued.

"You don't understand the consequences of killing me."

"Probably not."

"My Divine Mark is connected to my clan. The moment I die, they will know. They will know who killed me. They will know where you are. They will know what you possess."

That finally made Damon pause.

The Goddess immediately seized upon his hesitation. "You think the Gods who came here today were dangerous?" A bitter laugh escaped her lips. "You have seen nothing." Her golden eyes stared directly into his. "You don't even understand what a God is."

Damon remained silent.

"You don't understand the powers above us. You don't understand the beings who rule the Divine Realms. You don't understand what will happen when they discover a mortal somehow devoured a God's Origin and formed an Origin Core without ascending."

Her voice became quieter. "They will tear apart this entire star system looking for you."

Damon's expression darkened. For several seconds, he said nothing. Then he looked at the ruined Earth beneath him. The entire world was corrupted with abyssal energy. Everything was shattered and laid to waste.

Finally, Damon looked back at her. "You know…" The Goddess waited. "…everyone keeps telling me that."

Her brows furrowed.

Damon smiled.

"If you kill this person, someone stronger will come."

"If you offend that person, someone stronger will come."

"If you take this treasure, someone stronger will come."

The Goddess's expression changed. Damon's crimson eyes burned brighter.

"I am getting really fucking tired of it."

"Wait!"

"Let them come."

BOOOOOOOOOOM!

Ignoring her, Damon pressed harder, one last push to devour everything she had. Every golden symbol ignited simultaneously.

The Goddess clutched her head and screamed. Her remaining Origin Energy erupted from her body like a broken dam. Her wings rapidly lost their brilliance. Six golden wings became pale gold and then turned white. Finally, they turned to stone.

CRACK!

The first wing shattered.

CRACK!

A second disappeared.

CRACK!

Then the third.

One by one, all her wings exploded and shattered into mere dust. Her divine aura collapsed.

Damon watched without blinking. "You said I don't understand what a God is?"

The fourth wing shattered.

"Then I'll learn."

The fifth disappeared.

Damon pulled her closer. The Goddess stared into those crimson-golden eyes. For the first time in countless years, she understood what it felt like to stand before something that viewed her existence as nothing more than nourishment.

The final wing cracked.

Damon smiled. "Thanks for the meal."

CRACK!

The final wing shattered.

"No!" The Goddess's scream abruptly stopped. Her entire body stiffened. For one strange moment, everything became silent.

Then, BOOOOOOOOOOM!

A massive pillar of golden light erupted from her body and pierced straight through the heavens. The clouds vanished. The surrounding abyssal energy was blasted hundreds of kilometers away. Even the shattered pieces of land beneath them sank under the tremendous pressure.

Damon's eyes widened. "What the fuck?"

However, the pillar wasn't an attack. It was the remaining Origin, her divinity. Everything that had allowed her to exist as a God was collapsing at once.

The Goddess's once flawless skin rapidly lost its luster. Her golden hair faded to white. Wrinkles appeared around her eyes. She aged rapidly, everything about her deteriorating quickly. In a second, she became a withered husk.

"No… no…" Her voice became hoarse. For perhaps the first time since she had ascended, the Goddess felt something she had long forgotten, her mortality. Her eyes trembled. "I cannot die…"

Damon watched silently. More Origin Energy poured into him. Her cheeks became hollow. Her body shriveled.

"I am… a God…"

Damon stared directly into her fading golden eyes.

"Not anymore."

THUMP!

His Origin Core pulsed. The last torrent of golden energy ripped free from her. The Goddess's eyes bulged. "AAAAAAAAAAAH!" Her scream echoed across the ruined world. Then her body simply withered away. The golden pillar vanished. The divine pressure disappeared.

The ancient existence who had looked down upon Damon as an insignificant insect now no longer existed.

Damon remained completely still. He had done it. He had actually done it. He had killed a God. No. He had devoured a God!

Damon looked inward. The grain-sized Origin Core was still there. Except now it no longer resembled a grain of golden sand. It looked like a tiny star.

An impossibly small golden star floated inside the deepest part of his existence, slowly rotating while countless strands of energy swirled around it.

Mana. Abyssal energy. Blood energy. Soul energy. Even the lingering divine energy around him. Everything was being pulled toward it. Everything entered, and nothing came back out.

Damon swallowed. He was completely in uncharted territory now.

…

…

…

Far beyond Earth, across the cosmos, ancient existences simultaneously opened their eyes. Because somewhere in an insignificant corner, a Divine Mark had disappeared completely.

There weren't merely one or two Gods in the cosmos. There were hundreds of thousands of them scattered across countless worlds, star domains, Divine Kingdoms, secret realms, and ancient clans.

Gods died. Rarely, but they died.

Divine wars happened. Ancient grudges were settled. New Gods rose while old Gods fell. Even an existence that had transcended mortality was not truly eternal.

But a Divine Mark completely disappearing?

That was different.

When a God died, something remained. A broken Divine Mark or fragments of Origin or the remnants of a Dao. There was usually some trace proving that an existence powerful enough to call itself divine had once existed.

This time there was nothing.

It was as though someone had taken an eraser and wiped away a piece of the cosmos itself.

Naturally, not every God noticed. Most were too distant, too isolated, or simply too indifferent to care about the death of some random divine existence they had never met. But many did.

Across several Divine Realms, eyes opened.

"Hm?"

"A Divine Mark vanished?"

"Who?"

Divine senses stirred. Ancient artifacts awakened. Messages began crossing impossible distances. Most reactions were merely curious. One God laughed and returned to his cultivation. Another casually sent a subordinate to investigate. Several didn't even bother doing that much. But in one particular region of the cosmos, the reaction was very different.

Deep inside an enormous golden palace floating above a sea of stars, thousands upon thousands of Divine Marks burned within an ancient hall. Some were enormous, blazing like miniature suns. Others were merely faint specks of light. Each represented a God connected to the vast lineage behind them.

And among those countless lights… One had disappeared completely without leaving any trace.

An elderly man sitting silently upon a throne slowly opened his silver eyes. He was the same God who had descended upon Earth moments earlier. For several seconds, he simply stared at the empty position. Then his brows furrowed.

"Impossible." The word softly echoed through the hall.

Several figures immediately appeared below his throne.

"My Lord?"

The silver-eyed God did not answer. His gaze remained fixed upon the empty space. He had personally sent her. He knew exactly how strong she was.

More importantly, he knew where she had gone. That newly awakened world didn't possess anything remotely capable of threatening her. Even the strange mortal he had ordered her to retrieve had been dying. Yet her Divine Mark was gone.

The elderly God lifted one finger. A silver eye appeared in the air.

Countless runes revolved around it as an incomprehensible force pierced through space, following the final connection left behind by the Goddess.

The hall became silent. One second passed. Then another. The silver eye trembled.

CRACK!

A fracture appeared across it. The elderly God's expression changed.

CRACK!

The entire construct shattered. Nothing. He had found nothing. There were no soul remnants. There was no Divine Origin. There was no trace of her Dao. Not even enough residual energy to reconstruct the final moments of her existence.

That was when the silver-eyed God finally stood up. The entire palace trembled. The Gods kneeling beneath him immediately lowered their heads.

"My Lord?"

The old man ignored them. His silver eyes shone brighter. He remembered the mortal and the crimson-black storm. It was just another one of the abominations with the corrupted bloodline and the chaotic dao. What was different about him?

At first glance, the creature had appeared utterly worthless. But something had bothered him. Something he had been unable to identify. With the corrupted creatures, one could never tell. That was why he had ordered the Goddess to bring back the mortal's body, soul, and blood instead of simply killing him.

And now...

She was gone.

The old God's eyes narrowed. "Seal the information." The kneeling Gods stiffened. "No one outside the clan is to learn whose Divine Mark disappeared."

"Yes, My Lord."

"Send someone to retrieve her."

One of the Gods hesitated. "My Lord… if her Divine Mark has completely disappeared…"

The old man looked at him.

The God immediately lowered his head. "Forgive me."

"I did not say retrieve her alive."

The old man's voice remained perfectly calm. "Find whatever remains." His silver eyes slowly closed. "And find the mortal." This time, there was no indifference in his voice. "Do not kill him. Do not damage his soul. And under absolutely no circumstances are you to touch his blood."

The Gods below exchanged uneasy glances.

"My Lord… may I ask why?"

The elderly God remained silent for several seconds. Then his lips slowly curved upward. Because now he finally understood one thing. The prophecy had not been wrong. They had simply misunderstood what they were looking for.

"Because I believe…" His silver eyes opened. "…we found it."

"Take Minnahithaya and capture that abomination."
