Damon's eyes snapped open. At their very center, a tiny golden star slowly revolved, radiating an ancient brilliance that seemed older than the heavens themselves. He looked directly into the Goddess's eyes.

The woman froze to the core. For the first time, she felt seen after countless decades, not as a God, not as a superior existence, but as prey. An instinctive chill crawled down her spine.

Impossible.

How could a mere B-rank mortal make a God feel fear? How could a mere B-rank mortal paralyze her? What was happening here? Why wasn't she able to move?

Before she could think, before she could gather even a fragment of her divine authority, sharp fangs pierced deep into her neck.

The Goddess's eyes widened not because of the pain. She had endured pains that could shatter worlds. No… It was because something impossible was happening. The instant Damon's fangs pierced her skin, an overwhelming suction force erupted from within him.

The Goddess instinctively struggled. Her divine aura erupted without reservation. Golden radiance exploded across the battlefield as countless divine laws materialized around her. The heavens trembled. The earth split apart. The oceans surged into the sky.

Yet Damon remained attached to her, completely immovable. Nothing could force him away. Every drop of dazzling golden blood that entered his mouth dissolved before it even reached his stomach. The Devourer Bloodline tore it apart with frightening precision.

But blood was not the main dish today. A new kind of warm energy trickled into him.

Damon shuddered. Chaos swirled within his eyes. He was only beginning to regain his consciousness. The last thing he remembered was hastily absorbing all of the bloodline fragments in a frenzy.

He was hunting for a fragment that could possibly give him soul energy, or rather help him devour soul energy. He was hoping that he could use some sort of soul attack to overpower his opponent, to stand a chance against the impossible situation. Not that he had much hope.

How could he possibly overpower a God with a simple soul attack? But this was all he had, and he decided to give it a try. He never once considered that his plan would actually work. Wait, did it actually work?

This wasn't exactly soul energy…

Damon's eyes widened. He had no idea what was happening, but he did not care about that right now. His body was getting something which he desperately needed. Every instinct in his body screamed the same thing.

Consume it.

He had to consume this to survive. He had to consume this to obtain the ultimate power. With this, he would be able to do anything.

All of a sudden, the numerous cracks in his body disappeared. His almost broken body, teetering on the verge of annihilation, started healing at a rapid pace. The most shocking part was that now his bloodline nestled in his body comfortably without picking a fight.

He could tell that this was still not the ideal scenario, but it was good enough. It was more than good enough. It felt absolutely wonderful to have his body back.

He could feel warmth flowing through every inch of his body. His muscles felt lighter. His bones felt stronger. Even his battered soul, which had looked moments away from shattering forever, had become incomparably more resilient.

It was as if every strand of that mysterious energy was rebuilding him from the very foundation.

He clenched his fist. Not a single trace of pain remained. His body had never felt so... alive. He slowly raised his head.

The Goddess was staring back at him. Her face had become deathly pale. The calm arrogance she had carried since her arrival had disappeared completely. In its place was disbelief, and beneath that… there was fear.

This was a God?

"What did you do?" Her voice trembled ever so slightly. However, she was unable to do anything else.

She stood transfixed as Damon continued to drain the woman completely. Warm streams of golden essence continued flowing out of her and into Damon slowly, relentlessly, like the sand inside an hourglass.

Damon remained silent. He didn't answer because he genuinely didn't know. His Devourer Bloodline was acting entirely on instinct.

Every strand of mysterious energy entering his body disappeared into the deepest part of his bloodline before spreading through the rest of him.

His body continued rebuilding itself. His shattered organs regenerated. His fractured meridians became broader than before. His flesh became tougher. His bones emitted a faint golden sheen before it disappeared beneath his skin.

It was not just his physical body, his mana core and his dao core had now completely disappeared. Instead, there seemed to be a new core forming. It was very minute and barely formed, but it was there. It was barely the size of a grain of rice.

Damon furrowed his brows as he observed all of the golden specs of energy entering this small thing. Not just the energy he was draining from the God, but also the surrounding mana, abyssal energy, even life energy from the planet. Everything continued to flow into him, into this small grain-sized core.

Damon stared inward in disbelief. He shuddered at the sheer power brewing inside the thing. He was hesitant to go anywhere near it. He had a feeling he might just blow up from the inside out if he even dared to touch that power.

What was happening? What was this energy? Just what sort of bloodline fragment did he unlock? What could possibly make him stronger than a God?

Answering all of his questions, La Rocha's voice reached his mind. "Master, you are evolving into a God."

Damon froze for a moment even as his body continued to greedily suck in everything it could. A God? Was this bastard joking? Yet, he already knew that La Rocha was not joking. This time when he used the Master, he had really meant it.

"Master, you are currently absorbing her origin energy. You have shattered all the shackles holding you and directly ascended to Godhood!"
