Damon arrives to find Kael fully unleashed, his draconic bloodline activated. Kael attacks Damon with immense power, but Damon easily intercepts his punches. Damon then restrains Kael with blood chains and prepares to strike with a powerful blood spear.

The valley had turned into rubble.

The battlefield that once shook with hundreds of warriors was now nothing more than a shattered wasteland. The ground had collapsed into craters, cliffs had broken apart, and the air was thick with drifting dust and fading mana.

Only one thing remained untouched.

At the very center, a single blade of grass swayed gently.

Kael lay half-kneeling in the crater, breathing heavily. Golden blood dripped slowly from the wounds across his body. His draconic scales were cracked, several of them broken completely. He looked up. Damon stood in front of him. The spear had already disappeared.

But Damon turned away.

Kael blinked. "What…?"

Damon walked past him without another glance.

"You spared someone important to me," Damon said calmly. "…So I will spare you."

Kael's eyes widened, staring at his back, completely dumbfounded. "You're sparing a true draconian… after bringing him to death's door?" he asked hoarsely. His golden eyes narrowed slightly. "We hold grudges, you know."

Damon paused. Then he turned his head slightly. "I don't care." And he kept walking.

Kael watched him go, the expression on his face unreadable.

Damon approached the center of the ruined valley. The blade of grass stood there quietly, untouched by the devastation surrounding it. He reached out. The moment his fingers touched the blade, his body froze. His eyes lost focus as he entered a deep trance.

A powerful ripple spread through the valley.

High above, the watching elites reacted instantly. Seeing that Kael was wounded and Damon was also in a vulnerable position, nobody wanted to miss the opportunity. Many used concealment techniques to hide their identity and aura and quickly shot forward at lightning speed.

"That's the inheritance!"

"Move!"

But before any of them could reach him, a dark energy barrier flashed around Damon forming a protective layer around him. Necrogod clenched his fists and stood firm. Seeing him, the other elites only snorted in contempt. They did not care at all.

However, all of a sudden the group stopped. This was because beside Necrogod, a golden figure arrived. Kael stood up. His body was still wounded, golden blood still dripping down his arm, but the draconic aura around him surged again. The elites froze mid-charge. They had expected Kael to be finished.

The wounds Damon had inflicted were severe enough to kill most beings several times over. His scales had been shattered, his chest caved in, golden blood flooding the crater. Yet now, the wounds were closing.

Cracks in the draconic scales sealed themselves as if time had reversed. The golden blood evaporated into sparks of energy that flowed back into his body. Within seconds, Kael stood straight again.

He was not just healed. He was completely whole as if nothing has ever happened. The draconic phantom behind him roared once more, far clearer than before. Its wings stretched across the sky like a living storm.

Several elites abruptly stopped advancing.

"Regeneration."

"No."

They swallowed.

"That's true draconic vitality."

Kael rolled his neck slowly, the bones cracking loudly in the silence of the ruined valley. "What are you looking at?" he snarled. His golden eyes swept across the approaching figures. "I always play by certain rules." Lightning crackled along his arms. "But sometimes…"

He stretched his fingers, claws extending slowly. "I throw all the rules out the window."

The elites hesitated.

Kael's grin returned, far more savage this time. "I thought I already told you all to get lost." Golden pressure exploded outward from his body, slamming into the incoming beings like a wall. Several of them were forced to stop midair.

"What are you still doing here?"

No one answered. No one dared to. For several moments, the ruined valley remained silent. Then one after another, the elites began retreating.

Some activated their teleportation tokens immediately, vanishing in flashes of light. Others stepped back slowly, bowing toward Kael before turning away. Even the proudest among them did not dare linger any longer.

They had all witnessed firsthand a true draconian's power.

Even after being brought to the brink of death, Kael had stood back up as if nothing had happened. And more importantly… he had chosen to guard the one person who had just defeated him.

No one wanted to be caught between monsters like that.

Soon, the sky emptied. The crushing pressure that had filled the valley gradually faded, leaving only drifting dust and broken stone.

At the center of it all, Damon remained completely still.

His fingers rested lightly on the blade of grass, his eyes empty as his consciousness sank deeper and deeper into the inheritance.

Beside him, Necrogod stood like a statue, dark energy quietly swirling around him.

Kael glanced sideways at him. "You're a strange one."

Necrogod rolled his eyes. "I should be the one saying that. Who in their right mind would guard their enemy?"

Kael looked back toward Damon. His golden pupils narrowed slightly as he studied the motionless figure. "…That bastard," he muttered. A faint grin slowly spread across his face again. "He walks in, beats the hell out of me, steals the inheritance, and then leaves me guarding him."

Kael crossed his arms. "I should really kill him for that." The guy then laughed.

Necrogod didn't smile. "Do you really not care about such a treasure?"

"Meh. Sure, its a top-tier dao foundation treasure but I am a true draconian. I can fall ass backwards into treasures like that. There is nothing in this world I cannot attain. All I need is to will for it and it will happen."

Necrogod stared at him for a moment. Then he snorted. "You almost died thirty seconds ago."

Kael grinned. "Almost." He tilted his head slightly and looked toward Damon again. "But that bastard… he really is something."

For a moment the draconic overlord became quiet. His golden pupils glowed faintly as he observed the crimson mist surrounding Damon. The blade of grass swayed gently in the wind, its soft green color strangely out of place in the ruined valley.

"That thing is not simple," Kael muttered.

Necrogod's gaze also moved toward the grass. "I know."

Neither of them spoke again. The valley was silent except for the faint wind blowing through the broken cliffs.

Then suddenly, the blade of grass trembled. A faint ripple spread outward from Damon's body.

Necrogod's eyes narrowed instantly.

Kael's grin disappeared. "Oh?"

A pillar of crimson light shot upwards The moment it appeared, the entire valley trembled. Dust that had been drifting through the air froze in place. Loose stones stopped rolling. Even the wind itself seemed to pause as if the world had suddenly begun holding its breath.

The blade of grass glowed faintly. Then, the light expanded.

Crimson ripples spread outward in slow circles, washing across the ruined battlefield. Wherever the light touched, the broken earth hummed softly, as if responding to something ancient and incomprehensible.

"Dao manifestation…" Kael mumbled. "This is bad. Why is he attempting to breakthrough right now? Stepping into the next realm is not an easy task. Anyone can form a dao fragment and even anchor it to their soul." Kael sighed. "But forming a complete dao foundation is a very long, and arduous journey. Even if your friend is extremely talented, he shouldn't be attempting something like that. I am afraid this won't end well." The guy barely finished talking when the reality around them started flickering. Crimson threads started forming here and there. "What… the…" Without any warning, Damon's body once again turned into a huge and hungry crimson vortex sucking in anything and everything around them. To the draconian's shock, even the single blade of grass became crimson wisps and disappeared into Damon's body.

Inside the pillar of light, Damon slowly began to rise from the ground.

His body floated a few inches above the shattered stone. Crimson mist spiraled around him like a living storm. Within that mist, countless tiny symbols appeared and vanished, ancient runes formed from pure blood essence.

"Impossible…" Kael muttered in shock. "That treasure wasn't meant to be absorbed like that. It was meant to guide someone slowly… over decades… maybe centuries… until they could form a stable Dao foundation."

Right at that moment, a system notification flashed in front of him.

[Ding! Error! You are now being teleported out of the event]

"Fuck. Bullshit! I call bullshit! You are too mean! I need to see if he is succeeding! Don't leave me hanging like this, you bastard. I need to know the ending! No! We did not even exchange tokens!"

Before Kael could protest, the world around him started fading and he was mercilessly kicked out. Beside him, Necrogod was also kicked out.

The whole memory world collapsed and the entire realm trembled. A pair of ancient eyes opened in the sky above as they watched the crimson vortex with interest.

A hint of amusement appeared in the eyes. "You still have a long way to go but I have a feeling that we will be meeting really soon. Eat and grow more, youngling. The heavens have grown stagnant for way too long. Its time for yet another samsara."
